I have nearly finished the game, and it is indeed a fun game to play. One plays as Nick Kang, a rogue cop that gets things done around L.A. The graphics is fairly decent, better than Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, but the kicker comes in the fact that there are still many, many collision bugs and on occasion, the graphics chug. For instance, one time, my car actually got stuck in the ground literally! Another instance was that Nick Kang went through the wall during a stealth mission. The controls are okay, but they are not great. For fighting sequences, generally button-mashing gets the job done (think Enter the Matrix here). For shooting sequences, however, the great fault lies in the fact that sometimes Nick gets pulled into zoom-in sequences when you don’t want it. Lastly, sometimes, Nick suffers a tremendous delay in reaction, which results in him receiving damage. Now onto the good parts…The story is well-done, and because of their development of the character Nick Kang, one can actually sympathize with him. The branching storyline is excecuted fairly, but I wish that it was much more fluid (aka Deus Ex or Grand Theft Auto: Vice City). The cinematics is like actually watching an old-school Jackie Chan flick. The inclusion of a street map is great! I wish that The Getaway offered such a counterpart. Lastly, the multiple varieties of cars and crimes offer good diversions.Overall, this game is okay, but Activision needs several improvements in gameplay and contro.
I am still playing the game and enjoyed it up until get got freaky with the whole fire breathing dragon, zombies, and dont not to mention the flaming skulls. Yes I think this game is a rip off of GTA and the getaway but the getaway got boring after awhile and they tried to hard to make it look real. I have never plyed Max Payne so I dont know how the "originator" looked but I like how if you hit a car in a certain spot it will blow up. Now if anyone is a true GTA fan then they shouldnt get mad at this copy. The plus up it does have is the fact there is soo much more roads and streets to go down., Hell it has a working freeway!!!
A little dirty but still worked.
Love this game to the fullest
like that cable because is more used in the phone. Verry Good Good Good Verry Verry Good Good Verry Good
I live in LA and let me tell you, when I’m playing this game I don’t have to go outside see LA. I can go anywhere in LA just by playing the game. Playing True Crime is like watching an episode of Cops, you can stick to the main story or you can chase down little street crimes. True Crime is one of those games that no one will forget.
I was surprised by True Crime:Streets of LA. I was thinking it would be a cheap, GTA knock-off but it’s actually a game that stands alone from GTA.Good–Excellent graphics, sound, gameplay, and controls.Bad–Hip Hop/Rap soundtrack with very few Rock songs mixed in, a little more diversity would’ve been better. But, thank the lord for the Xbox soundtrack. Also, the targeting system was a little annoying until you got the first 4 upgrades because you’d be standing in one place for about 3 seconds while the enemy was whailing into you so you could target them. A manual targeting system would’ve improved this greatly.Ugly–Storyline was cheap and cliched. I mean, how many times have you heard the storyline of a "borderline cop who does things his way and doesn’t want a partner"? Or "a young cop just out of the academy trying to fill his father’s shoes"?
i’ve been lookin up this game alot, when it comes out you defenitely will want it. If there is a game to compare this to, it has to be GTA vice city. But in this game you r not the BADGUY like in GTA, your a wacko COP! but, you can still do as you wish because you are no longer on the force. (the real cops still give you recognition, wich is good.)The story is said to be very intriguing as you try to take down mob organizations and other randomly selected crimes. yayaya, whatever! the nice part is that if you fail a mission it wont just end, and you wont just start over, it simply starts another branch to the story or your mission. enough about that, wat about the gameplay? well unlike GTA there is a much more bigger deal about the fighting part of it. there are several different martial arts and pro wrestling fighting styles you have to learn. as for cars they are just as good as GTA. No word on the bikes yet. Instead of stealing a car you will simply show your badge to take over a civilians vehicle, or you can buy them the honest way. For guns it is a much different than GTA. you cant just hold down the aim and fire button to take out a group of people. (dont worry) you will go firing ranges to learn that type of stuff. Hopefully there will be lots of cheats for this game. that is one of the best things about GTA. sound effects and voiceovers r great.(i seen a movie already) GRaphics should be oustanding, much beter than GTA since its on XBOX. wow i wrote a lot here, im get.
…this is no GTA, SO STOP COMPARING IT. Games should be reviewed on how good they are, not compared to other games, so this is the last time GTA (see its over now) should be mentioned. You are an ex cop on some special crime busting team. You can do the missions to crack down on crime or you can respond to regular 911 calls (Cops any one?) such as domestics, muggings, robberies etc. Instead of offing anyone you see, you must arrest them (unless you getting shot at, then cap em). This game is a lot of fun, and I reccomend it to anyone whos a driving, fighting, shooting, or police fan.
After a lot of sceptisism about this game i finally picked up a copy. I have to say i was pretty impressed. I won’t bore you with the story, its the usual cop story – investigating a crime – personal friends get kidnapped etc.. I’ll weigh up the games credentials. On the plus side: The first thing i noticed about the game was how cool it was to target. Holding the R trigger in brings the camera to your shoulder and gives you a pretty zoomed view of anything in front of you and slows it down, giving you more time to target your enemies, or their vechicles. This is useful if you want to shoot someone in the leg, not that there are individual body effects (but there does try to be). The driving is quite similar to GTA, theres a variety of cars and some of the missions in the Game focus on this. You can also shoot from the car, which is helpful if you are persuing a suspect and want to shoot out his wheels- this being perhaps the best feature in the game. You can also shoot the engine – but its close to impossible sometimes. Theres a lot of missions to keep you entertained, plus you can also cruise around the city – ‘policing’ random crimes. the game is satisfying. Imagine the scenario. It comes over on the radio that two cars have been spotted street racing – you arrive to the scene and the cars are racing around the block, you can approach it by staying in your car chasing them – take their wheels out and chase the criminal on foot. Alternatively you can shoot at his engine – pe.
