HALO

Halo is set in the twenty-sixth century, with the player assuming the role of the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier. The Chief is accompanied by Cortana, an artificial intelligence. Players battle various aliens as they attempt to uncover the secrets of the eponymous Halo, a ring-shaped artificial world.

The best-selling Xbox Original game with over 8 million copies sold, in Halo 2 the player assumes the roles of both the human Master Chief and the alien Arbiter in a 26th-century conflict between the human United Nations Space Command, the genocidal Covenant, and the parasitic Flood. It features a new game engine, added weapons and vehicles, and new multiplayer maps.

Move through the shadows for concealment whenever possible as the game displays a “light meter” that reflects how visible the player character is to enemies. With the help of vision goggles and limited weapon ammo discover secrets and reach your goals as skilled agent.

• Prior to launching, anticipation for the Xbox was high, with Toys ‘R’ Us and Amazon reporting that online preorders had sold out within just 30 minutes.
• A special event was held before the launch at the Toys ‘R’ Us store on Times Square, in which 1,000 systems were shipped to the store to kick off sales.
• Bill Gates was present at the event, personally selling the first system as well as greeting people in line and playing games with them at the numerous display units present.
