If you have multiple copies of this with Xbox’s and the original Steel battalion controllers. You can still play this. But it wont be cheap. Back in the day I had this and bought it even though It wont work just to have in my collection. I cant afford to buy multiple Steel battalion set ups to use it.
This game is listed as LIVE PLAY ONLY – The LIVE support has long since been terminated with the shut down of the needed servers.LAN MODE (System Link) is FANTASTIC! It has been a few years now, but I think in LAN mode it supports up to 10 players, but it may only be 4. To use this you will NEED for EACH PLAYER the following items;1. An original Xbox console2. A copy of the original game in the series Steel Battalion, which includes the SPECIAL CONTROLLER! Check retrolio or elsewhere, expect to pay $200 or MORE for used depending on condition.3. A copy of THIS game, Steel Battalion: Line of Contact4. A TV/monitor/sound setup for each of the ORIGINAL Xbox consoles – I HIGHLY suggest a minimum 27″ TV size for each player, as well as a full surround sound for each player for full effect! CRT also preferable for reduced game lag.5. A table or special built console to hold the controller during play. This is not a controller you can really hold in your lap. I have seen some people make cool chair setups for this controller! In addition to the above items for EACH player, you will also need the following to connect the systems together;1. Ethernet Switch, capable of 100 mbit connections. Do not attempt wireless, you will be disappointed in system lag most likely if you go to the extra cost and effort to go wireless.2. Ethernet cables. You will need one cable from each Xbox back the Ethernet Switch.3. Basic networking knowledge. You can study for this, I prefer Stati.
