I bought this game after reading the raving reviews and found that I enjoyed it as much as the other reviewers. I expected this to be a fun and unique game, as I was an owner of the original Spy Hunter, made for the original Nintendo. I was addicted and happy with the original, as I am with its successor, Spy Hunter for PS2.The game puts you in the driver’s seat of a high-tech, gun-shooting, missile launching, smoke and oil spraying [and more] car/boat. This game is unique in that you control a high-tech car/boat, and in that is an original type of game.The story line for the game is that you are a secret spy single handedly trying to stop an evil man, who is trying to steal the earth’s energy. Spy Hunter is a brilliant rendition of the arcade classic!! Excellent play control, and awesome graphics, as to be expected from the various game systems out there. Hidden routes are to be found, and the different backgrounds add a realistic touch. A real must-have for any fan of the arcade classic!!!
Hey all, this has turned out to be a very enjoyable game. I remember playing this when it was at the arcade and it definitely is better than the arcade version. Very nice graphics, smooth gameplay and controls and just overall a good gaming experience.
It’s a fun game, but way too difficult. It’s great to see an update to an older game like Spyhunter that allows people like myself to relive some of the fun I had with the original as a kid. There are some nice weapons to use, as well as seeing that your car can convert into a speedboat and a motorcycle as well.One of the pitfalls of the game is it’s difficulty. Even the training mission caused problems for me at first because I didn’t understand what I was supposed to do with certain parts such as the boat sequence. That could have been explained a little better. Also, the controls are good, but I think it’s not as realistic as something like Grand Turismo 3.Overall, it’s a great game that can be fun, but I wouldn’t buy it for someone who isn’t an expert gamer.
If you ever dreamed of fighting off bad guys in a cool car with James Bondian gadgets–this is the game for you! I love pushing a button and leaving an oil-slick for bad guys to skid into. I especially like the idea that the vehicle automatically converts from boat to car to motorcycle whenever the situation calls for it. For example; in one level you can speedboat through the canals of Venice blasting bad guys in boats. In certain areas of the level the boat can go up a ramp and will switch to car mode and allow you to drive alongside the canals. The control configuration is logically laid out and similar to GT3. One of the best things about Spy Hunter is the theme song–which is the same one from the old Peter Gunn T.V. show. The song is updated, sounds great and a good choice because it really psyches you up for a great futuristic spy adventure.

I was walking around in GameStop, because at the time I got my PlayStation 2, all I had was Grand Theft Auto. Flipping through the games, I found SpyHunter. There was no case, just a disc, and I had never heard of it surprisingly. So I got it.This is the awesomest game I have ever played.Needless to say, the first time my Spy Car transformed into a boat instantly after driving into some water, I was hooked.To keep the story as low as I can, the plot involves the NOSTRA Corp., which wants to use EMP to shut down all the worlds power and thereby rule the earth. Here comes SpyHunter, time to put an end to them with your machine-gun rocket launcher equipped car full of badass.Although you follow a track when playing, there are many secrets and other ways to go to on the way. On level 2, you navigate a parking deck and drive through a warehouse to blow up a helicopter, which is pretty awesome, and on level 3, you drive a boat by the docks. Or, you can drive ON the docks and transform into a car to destroy armored vehicles.You have a few vehicles you can transform into: Car, Boat, Motorbike and Jetski.The car is cool, the boat is epic but the motorbike and jetski are on the verge of lameness. Once you locate a Weapons Van or Boat, you can drive up unto it to repair your vehicle.The way you advance is by racking up points by doing certain obstacles and objectives on previous levels, then using them once you have enough to go to the next. Personally, I’ve got mixed ideas on this. Whi.
To put is short and sweet….this game ROCKS!Just played the demo and eventhough it wasn’t what I expected, I played it for hours. If you like the speed of GT3 and the arsenal of Twisted Metal, you will not be disappointed. The graphics in the levels are tight, the car transition is very cool, the control…dead on, and it is actually challenging! You MUST check this one out
This is a great game if you like fast action and cool cars. I think they did a great job re-designing this classic arcade game.
