I have to disagree with John L. completely. The N64 transfer of Hexen was great. As far as I know, the main game is functionally identical to the PC version. I am not aware of any missing characters, weapons, items, or levels from the PC original. Pleasantly surprising in and of itself, compared to most PC ports of the time, which usually had missing or redesigned levels.Furthermore, the programmers of the N64 port actually made some very cool exclusive additions (besides the little paragraphs between levels). For example, it has a custom soundtrack remix. In my opinion, this remix is superior to the PC version.More importantly, it has support for four player split-screen deathmatch or co-op on a single console. Hexen 64 was the first console FPS to implement this. 4P co-op was groundbreaking for the time, and a feature that is still somewhat uncommon on console FPSs today (via split-screen, or even system link for that matter). 4P co-op FPS play on one PC is nearly unheard of, and to even have 4P co-op play via LAN/Internet on Hexen PC would probably require a mod. Also, while it is cool that they’ve added better lighting and 3D models to the PC version source port, it’s also worth noting that these are fan-created modifications. This port was made years later than the original game, and it’s not even authorized by Raven Software. Judging the N64 version’s graphics by this port would be sort of like condemning the original Mac version of Marathon: Durandal because th.
Great classic game. Even came with the directions, both in good condition.
Remembering lemings..?..the great fun you would have..but the graphics…. Yes I admit this game could do alittle upbeating to it’s gfx. All and all this game is great for those who love puzzles and shot’em up’s. It’s like "Goldeneye" sorta. You have objectives (unclear in this) you do the objectives a new objective come’s. When you complete an objective in this, it opens new worlds and doors in different levels..I love this game!… Great sounds and music. Poor pixelation (who cares!?- you put up with doom). Great Game.
I am a big multiplayer person. Every time I go to a used game store i always look for a game that either I’ve heard of or has multiplayer. Once I found on YouTube that this game had 4-player co-op (obviously locally because this isn’t a PC or Xbox 360), I had to pick this game up. Once I found this for a decent price of 5 bucks, I immediately clicked buy, and boy am I glad I did. Now I have never tried out 4-player co-op completely, but I have actually plugged in 4 controllers and it looks amazing. Now I know some people have said never to try this because of “Blurred graphics and limited view,” but I don’t care! All I care about in a game is gameplay, sound, controls, multiplayer, and music. The controls I had to get used to, but it wasn’t horrible or impossible. The sound effects are awesome and the music is also better than the PC version. The game does have difficult puzzles but they are not impossible and the enemies are really awesome. I have played co-op and deathmatch with 2 players and I can say that the game has amazing multiplayer. If you are a really big multiplayer fan and would like to play a game that has co-op and deathmatch and also is good by yourself, I recommend buying this game.
