works good
The Final Fantasy Legend (known as ”Makai Toushi SaGa” in Japan) is an RPG for the Gameboy. This is actually the first game in the ”SaGa” series, but it is also considered to be part of the Final Fantasy series. It was the first RPG for the Gameboy, and one of the first Final Fantasy games to be released in North America. This game contains both fantasy and science-fiction elements. This is a pretty fun game. You start off by creating your own party. You choose which class and sex you want to play, then you go on a quest. The story is about a tower that supposedly leads to Paradise. You play 4 characters who must travel to different worlds in order to find their way up to the tower. The leveling system in this game is similar to the Japanese Final Fantasy II. You don’t gain levels. The Humans get stronger when you use potions called ”Strong” and ”Agility” on them. Mutants get stronger as they fight and they are the only class that can use magic. And monsters get stronger and change when you give them food that is dropped by enemies. This is a pretty good RPG. It is definitely a classic game and I do recommend it, but it is a little confusing at times. I recommend to use a walkthrough when playing it.
Got this out of nostalgia. Had this as a kid but lost it from all the moving around we did. Glad to have a copy again. Still a fun game
This is a very fun game. Very quality. Plays as it should. Virtually new!
I rate this game well not only because it is a good game, but it also started my favorite Squaresoft series (SaGa). Give the game a chance if you can. It does not have great graphics/music/story, but it is an older game so be forgiving. Besides, the gameplay more than makes up for that.
A fairly good game, although it didn’t truly deserve the name of Final Fantasy. It simply didn’t catch essensce of the FF games, It lacked the engrossing story. It was too…Simple. But, when I started playing, I was hooked. A fun game to play when BORED.All in all, a game to play when you are tired of those annoying car songs on road trips.
Worked on super game boy. The save games from the last owner were super funny, and inspiring. My real rating is 4 1/2 stars, because I did have to clean it again.
Final Fantasy Legend is a versatile, robust RPG that i would liken to the Diablo of its day. the story line, which i grant you is occasionally flat, is more than made up for by the generally innovative game interface which involves limited weapon uses, versatile, randomly developing characters (mutants), mutating monster characters, a scalable party (you can have anywhere between 1 and 4 characters, and add more, up to four of course, at any time), etc., etc…. If you liked Diablo I and its randomly generating levels and weapons scheme, and thought that these aspects more than made up for its light plotline, I think you will appreciate the (admittedly less honed, more hidden) sense of replayability that Final Fantasy Legend delivers. Both Diablo I and Final Fantasy Legend also share a classic sense of item-fetishization: the idolization of the elusive, sought-after item, whether it be a platonic ideal "perfect" item in Diablo, or the glass sword in this game. If you, like me, are a rarity finder, a scourer of levels, in short, an item-fetishizer, you will love this game. I digress. I think that in this situation, an opinion may prevail over an argument: my favorite aspect of final fantasy legend is its quintessential old-school feel and general sense of mood and peculiar, veiled beauty. I say that there is no sweeter song than that played on a square wave synthesizer and know that there are those of you out there who agree with me. I believe, also that when one cr.
Mine came with a dead save battery, once I changed it, It was smooth playing from there. love the game. Simple and Fun! And easy!
When Squaresoft (the original name for the NA branch of what is now called Square Enix) brought this game over, they used the popular Final Fantasy name to sell the game.As stated in other reviews, this is NOT affiliated in ANY WAY with Final Fantasy. In fact, the game is NOT part of the series or it’s respective spin-offs. It is, however, affiliated with the SaGa series. Much like Final Fantasy, these games were developed with independent storylines and characters.Second of all, this is a GAMEBOY game. Not color, Advance or DS. ORIGINAL GAMEBOY. Two colors people. Black and white. That being said, for the time, they packed a HUGE amount of detail into that cartridge. The sprites are fairly detailed, and though you have the same sprites being used over and over again (if it was on the original NES, they would have been palette swapped aka Final Fantasy and Zelda), they are full of personality. In fact, one of the same sprites used for a mentor character in the beginning of the game is used for a female character later in the same part of the world. Again, it is a Gameboy game.Third, the music actually rocks. The soundtrack is varied, and the music (being that it is MIDI, composed WAY before digital music was mainstream) is really good. It sounds really good coming from my GBA console, and those speakers are more advanced than those of the original Gameboy. Finally, the story. Ahh, the heart of the game. It is pretty basic. Not much to really look at, like the o.
