Nintendo 3DS XL Console – FeaturesExperience the first console to successfully integrate 3D into gaming without making it seem like just a small gimmick. The Nintendo 3DS XL Console takes everything that was great about the DS and heavily builds onto them. It gives an amazing gaming experience, making it one of the most successful consoles, that is used and loved to this day. With the 3DS XL, Nintendo packs in a larger screen and even longer battery life. Eventually, allowing you to play your games for even longer!
AMAZING 3D CAPABILITIESOne of the most prominent features of the console is its ability to display stereoscopic 3D effects. That too without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories, powered by the Nintendo Network. Augmented reality using its 3D cameras and Virtual Console allows you to download and play games originally released on older video game systems.
POWERFUL PROCESSORThe main central processing unit is a dual-core ARM11 MPCore-based processor clocked at 266 MHz. One processor core is dedicated to games and applications, while the other core is exclusive to the operating system, enabling multitasking and background tasks. These tasks are handled seamlessly in the background during gameplay or while the system is in sleep mode. The system also contains a single-core ARM9-based processor, enabling backward compatibility with both Nintendo DS and DSi titles.
OUTSTANDING PARTICULARITIESThe console features 2 cameras capable of taking 3D photos and videos. Also, a built-in microphone, and a lithium-ion battery with longevity between 3 and 8 hours, depending on the games you are playing. Also, you have 2 generous screens, the bottom one being a resistive touchscreen and while the system includes 2 GB of flash memory, it can be expanded by another 2 GB through an SD card.
Nintendo 3DS XL Console – GamesEven though it features backward compatibility with older Nintendo DS videogames, the console has an impressive library on its own. It features over 1300 fun titles to play all day!
MARIO KART 7With almost 19 million copies sold, Mario Kart 7 is the number 1 best-selling Nintendo 3DS game. As with previous games in the Mario Kart series, players participate in racing on various Mario-themed tracks. They played as one of seventeen different Mario characters. While racing, the players make use of power-up items that either assist their character or hinder opposing characters. New additions to the game include hang-gliding attachments for karts. Also, the ability to drive underwater, the ability to drive in the first person, and the ability to fully customize the vehicles’ builds.
SUPER SMASH BROS 3DSLike the rest of the Super Smash Bros. series, this is a non-traditional fighting game where players use different attacks to weaken their opponents and knock them out of an arena. The games are crossover titles. They feature characters, items, music, and stages from various Nintendo franchises, as well as from several third-party franchises.
POKEMON XAlong with Pokémon Y, Pokémon X is the second best-selling Nintendo 3DS game and follows the journey of a young Pokémon trainer and friends, as they train Pokémon. This time, the game takes place in the Kalos region—based in France—with the objective being to thwart the schemes of the nefarious criminal organization Team Flare. X and Y introduced 72 new Pokémon species. It also includes new features such as the new Fairy-type, character customization, updated battle and training mechanics, and more.
LEGEND OF ZELDA OCARINA OF TIMEThe player controls Link in the fantasy land of Hyrule on a quest to stop the evil king Ganondorf. You do it by traveling through time and navigating dungeons and an overworld. The game introduced features such as a target-lock system and context-sensitive buttons. Which are common in 3D adventure games. The player must learn to play numerous songs on an ocarina to progress.
LUIGI’S MANSIONTake control of Luigi, equipped with the Poltergust 5000, a ghost-eating vacuum cleaner, and embark on a quest to pacify the spirits of Evershade Valley and save Mario from King Boo by gathering the shards of the shattered Dark Moon. Nintendo 3DS XL – Fun Facts
- One thing you may not know is if you blow into the 3DS microphone while on the “Home” menu, the icons on the screen spin around.
- If you’ve always wanted to visit the Louvre Museum in Paris but don’t have the time or money, you can use the official Louvre 3DS app to take a tour of the museum from the comfort of your sofa.
- The 3DS was initially believed to be a failure, so in order to make up for the losses, Nintendo executives took a pay cut. Also, the company’s president cut his salary in half. However, the system turned out to be one of the most popular that Nintendo ever released!
Beautiful device and lots of fun! Does NOT come with a charger, though.
Previously I had used my DS Lite for many years. I own a ton of games for that and I’m really happy I can still play them on the 3DS! I thought I was happy with that but just wanted a larger screen. I also like the idea of 3D gaming since I also own & enjoy 3D TV. The 3D on this thing is incredible! Outside of those two things I was suprised to learn I LOVE how I can download classic & new games on this & store them on the built in micro SD card. I bought a bunch of my favorite retro games & a few newer ones & I don’t need the carts for them! I know this isn’t a new thing but it’s new to me. Add on the 3D games that utilize the dual cameras, the 3D picture/video function, the Mii functions, Netflix & Hulu ability, this thing is just so awesome. I went from casually playing every few days to playing & using my 3DS every day! My wife who doesn’t like video games even used it & really liked it. I may need to buy one for her & the kids too. lol So if you’re an old school gamer like me & owned a DS or Wii (or any of the 80’s/90’s systems), go for it! I really feel like it was worth the money. One thing, I had to buy the power adapter separate. What is up with that Nintendo??? It makes no sense.
Note that “New” is part of the product name, not a description of what you will receive. The shop I purchased from sent a decidedly used unit (in good condition, but with quite visible blemishes) in an unsealed box very different from that displayed in the listing, a relatively plain box clearly marked “refurbished” and Gamestop’s verbiage for that, “Recharged”. This poses a potential embarrassment for gift-giving!The unit was not refurbished by Nintendo, either; “Recharged” is a Gamestop refurbished brand and does not uphold the manufacturer’s warranty, nor was any warranty provided by Gamestop or the shop. I could have purchased a Nintendo-refurbished one for $5 less from Nintendo’s website, or a Gamestop “Recharged” one for $30 less from Gamestop’s website.I’m keeping the one I received for myself, despite the price I paid being high for a used console, because the shop (mtgnw — avoid!) seems unbothered by the confusion and unlikely to do anything about it without more effort than I have time for and because it’s in perfect working condition and good cosmetic condition. I’d give the console 5 stars if it were new and under warranty; since it’s neither, and I was expecting both, this listing for it gets only 4. Nevertheless, be aware that “New” refers to a physical redesign of the original 3DS XL and does not guarantee the quality of product you will receive, its warranty status, or the packaging you’ll receive it in.My refurbished model came with an AC adaptor (loose in the replacement “Recharged” box) and nothing else. It does have an SD card installed and a stylus. The box was not sealed in any way, and in fact was open inside the shipping carton; if it originally came with anything else, I have no way of knowing what might be missing. If you’re okay with a used console, or sure you’re getting a new-condition one and not just a new-model one, should you get a “New” 3DS XL? Definitely. Especially coming from a DSi (and a DS Lite before that, and a DS “phat” bef.
Just FYI – This is the first ever gadget I have bought that DID NOT COME with its own CHARGER in the box .. has to be bought separately … that’s just out right LAME.
