We have a winner.DEATHROW: MOST UNDERATED TITLE OF THE YEAR.Disclaimer: Have children? DONT GET THIS GAME, it has the most obscene language I have ever heard in a video game and it is ultra violent. Now to the meat. YOU CANT GET MORE ACTION THAN THIS.. Think rollerball on speed, fist fights, matrix slow downs.. Violent soccer… The action is RELENTLESS, it has tons and tons of things to unlock so the replayability is through the roof.PROS:1-GREAT ACTION2-GREAT ACTION3-LOTS TO UNLOCKCONS:1-PROFANE FOR THE KIDS2-DOESNT REALLY CHANGE MUCH IE:ITS STILL VIOLENT SOCCER EVERY LEVEL.
I recently dusted off my old xbox and started collecting some of the games and I kept seeing this one mentioned online as one of the best underrated xbox games ever and it did not disappoint!First of all, I normally hate sports games. I also hate fighters but somehow this game managed to combine the 2 for one of the funnest games I’ve ever played..period! The graphics are awesome for 2002 and it looks even better on the 360. The controls are easy to learn and the gameplay is very smooth. The action is fast paced and intense and every match is a new experience so the game never really gets old. It’s just plain fun in the same way Super Smash Bros was. You just wanna keep playing another match. As for the actual game play..its awesome. It’s rated M due to violence and mostly language which is why it’s so much fun and downright hilarious. Imagine seeing someone on the other team running across the arena and out of nowhere you give them a Chuck Norris roundhouse to the face and call them a d*ck head. I’ve had to pause this game from laughing so hard. I would not call this game outdated at all. If you can’t have fun with this one I feel sorry for you. So even if you hate sports and fighting games like me please give this one a shot. I found it for $5 at my local retro game store and the fact that its such a good game and works on the 360 makes it a no brainer. This game is a timeless hidden gem of kickassery.
This is by far one of the best xbox games ever made. It is the most overlooked game ever as well. It features insane sports action along with fighting and platforming. The swearing is abseloutely great, and uterly hilarious to listen to. As far as fighting goes, the violence is very mild. I don’t know why everyone says it’s ultra violent because it isn’t. The violence is similar to a fighting game such as Virtua Fighter 4. The blood is not a big deal either. You see little drops of it but it’s definately nothing to get bent out of shape about. The ability to play with friends on and/or offline is excellent. Online gameplay is via gamespy tunnel, which means xbox live is unneeded. Overall, I really like this game, because it requires a lot of strategy, and keeps the adrenaline pumping from beginning to end. A must buy.
Deathrow is truly one of the great X-Box games released this year. Deathrow takes place in the distant future, where a new ultra-violent sport has risen. Blitz Ball has become the most popular sport in the world and you are in control of a blitz ball team. The game is a mix of ultimate freesbie meets WWE. Its very violent, has alot of profanity and has few rules. Action is fast past sporting a overhead view and an action view (3rd person view) which you can pick from. Fights occur often, are fairly simplistic, brutal and throughly enjoyable. The game has dozens of unlockable features including players, arenas and other types of gameplay. This games also supports 4 players on 1 X-Box as well as many more through the system-link. This is a truly awesome game that everyone should enjoy. Not to be played by children who are not used to blood, violence and liberal use of profanity.
The goal of the game is to get a "frisbee?" into the opponents goal. It’s like soccer/football/basketball/hockey rolled into one. Definitely an interesting and original mix. You can punch and kick the other teams players to knock the frisbee outta their hands or knock them down, you can also intercept passes just like the NFL or jump to block them from scoring. You gotta give it to the creators for coming up with something new. I wish more sports game where made like this now. Definitely worth a purchase if you enjoy sports or beat-em-up type games.
Once you get use to the controls this game is addictive. You can use the network feature with xbconnect.com and play online (which I haven’t tried yet). Gamespy.com possibly will support internet play also. Give this game about an hour cause the controls and camera take sometime to get use to. I’ve seen many game companies in the past that have tried to make a futuristic brutal sports game but SouthEnd Interactive has succeeded.
I just purchased this game a few days ago and I can’t put it down. It is somewhat a variation of Speedball Brutal Deluxe. At first Deathrow may seem to be shallow game. But after you understand all the nuances of it you will find there is a depth of strategy and skill to it. You need to be aware of your teams strengths and weakness’ as well as your opponents and play the game accordingly. The controls couldn’t be any simpler. But it will take a few games until doing the moves that make up the player control become second nature. There are two basic camera views to choose from. Sports and Arena view. Sports view is wide angle view that gives you a good view of the overall arena but with the sacrifice of the incredible action and deeper graphics that the game offers. The Arena view is a just behind the player in a 3rd person view. This view really puts you in the action and allows you to take in all the great textures, lighting and hitting that goes on. This view takes a lot more practice to get comfortable at but the payoff is well worth it. Despite one review earlier you can simply press the right trigger button to swing your view directly to the disc or the opponents goal if you are already holding the disc. If you want you can even hold this button in most of the time and you will always be aimed at the disc or the opponents goal. You can also use the D-pad to change your teams overall strategy to 1 of 5 settings on the fly. Full defense, mostly defense, neutral, mostly offense,.
i Just want to say that i’m not a "gamer" nor am i a sports fan. Those two things are used to describe this game too much. That you have to be a gamer to be able to enjoy it, or a big sports fan. So this goes out to all those people out there who are just looking for a cool game to play. Deathrow is extremely fun. i Got it quite a wile ago, and i’m certainly not bored with it yet, nor expect to be. If you’ve read anything on the game, you know it’s a futuristic sport, where you score on the other players goal, but it’s also a fighting game, where to get the disk away from the other team, you get to punch, kick, and do some really amazing grabs and throws. i Do admit that to learn to play well enough to play on anything but the lowest difficulty setting, you do have to play and practise, but it’s so much fun, that you won’t mind. Plus you’ll be earning credits wile practising, so that as you move on in the conquest, you can unlock more players, teams, arenas, difficulty settings, and something really crazy and fun, multi-disk, where you are playing with three disks instead of one. This game is very fun to play with your friends, you can play cooperatively, or against one another, or to play by-yourself. The AI of the game is hard enough where you are very challenged playing alone. i Would like if there were a Deathrow II, because though i still have fun with this game, it would be great to say, be able to play the Angels in conquest mode and get them victory over the.
I just bought my XBox and was looking for some good games. I went to a site that rated them and found this one on there w/ a 9.6 out of 10 rating. So I went around to various places looking for the game, nobody had it. Found a recon one online and bought it. Just like other reviewers say about this game, once you start to play…you CAN’T STOP! This is truly one of the most addicting games I have ever played. The best part is when you completely wipe out other teams that are “bad … Marines” or “Jail hardened convicts”, etc. One note, LOTS OF FOUL LANGUAGE! Not for the kiddies.
This is an awesome game and it completely met my expectations. I am very pleased with this game. Get it!
