I wish we could play it! The only downside is that I can’t play this game without a game pack. I did not know this and the shop did not include that information in the advertisement.
Awesome holo, boots up first try. I couldn’t expect better. Will be buying from Mainely Gaming again.
This is a side story in the Zelda series. It is strange, and nowhere near as good as Ocarina of Time, but it is oddly amusing. It is a lot of fun to collect the masks and figure out what you’re supposed to do with them. Get all the masks before you go to the moon to reveal a very cool mask that is useful in the final Boss battle! It is also fun to roll around as a Goron, Fly in the air as a Deku sprout, and play the guitar and swim as a Zora. Your fairy, Belle(or Tatl in the English version) can get a bit annoying however, even more so than Navi was. The time limit is also annoying – you can’t take more than an hour to beat each dungeon or you have to start all over. Definitely get this game if you like weird stuff or just Zelda in general. I must warn you, however – Princess Zelda is not a part of this at all, and it doesn’t really have much to do with the vague but existent Zelda storyline. If you have a choice between this and Ocarina of Time – get Ocarina of Time.
*This is more a conceptual than a game play review*Majora’s Mask is probably the most controversial installment in the Zelda franchise, save maybe Windwaker and the DS Zeldas, but Majora’s Mask isn’t interactively or graphically alienating off the bat. It continues with the same engine as Ocarina of Time with plenty of graphical enhancements as well, but the similarities end there. Majora is the black sheep in the Zelda series (who ever heard of the phillips cdi anyways?) with its exapansive and initially disorienting nonlinearity. It has the least amount of dungeons of any Zelda I’ve played and a frequent critique I often hear comes from a disjointed feeling within the overall franchise. It’s true that Majora lacks many real character elements that the majority of the previous and post Zelda games have included. There is no Zelda or Ganon, and the Triforce is completely absent as well. Majora was the first time since Link’s Awakening where the series sought to replace Ganon with another villain (I’m not counting the Bizarro Ganon from the Windfish’s Nightmare in LA)and since it came out at the same time as the Oracle Series (a great series if you’re into handhelds) on the GBC I completely forgive it as I can go fight Ganon in Holodrum all night.By far the biggest complaint about Majora’s Mask comes from its time feature. If you’ve managed to read any of the reviews about this game in the decade or so that it’s been out you probably know that there is a time “limit.” I use qu.
Works great, money well spent!
The Legend of Zelda:Majoras’s Mask is a beautifully designed RPG with great graphics and exellent game play, in which you must prevent the moon from crashing into the Earth in three days (72 minutes real time.) However, you have the aid of the Ocarina of Time, a mystical instrument on which you play many songs, including the time-altering Song of Time. This game follows in the footsteps of one of the best RPG’s of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is different because you must play many things over and over to trigger certain events. You also must collect many masks. Some of these masks are only good to get a heart piece or another mask, but others allow you to transform into different creatures such as a plant like Deku scrub, a large bomb weilding Goron, and a sleek water creture, the Zora. The game has four basic temples which you must conquer, a horse to get back, a story to settle with a Skull kid(who stole Majora’s Mask) and even a romance to fix. All in all, this is a great game which should be played by all gamers.
Where to begin? I should get the technical aspects out of the way first. Back when Majora’s Mask was re-released as part of the Legend of Zelda Collector’s Edition on the Gamcube, it had some bugs that would cause it to freeze up during play. You should know that’s all been fixed for the Virtual Console release. The game runs as smoothly as it did in its cartridge form, and uses the same control scheme that they used one the Gamecube version, and you may use a Gamecube Controller or attach the Nintendo Classic Controller connected to your wiimote. In the N64 version, Link could equip three items he could control with C-Buttons. On the VC, you control those items by using the C-Stick on the Gamecube Controller, or the right analog stick on the Nintendo Classic Controller, or by using the X, Y, and Z buttons. (C-Left is Y, C-Right is X, C-Down is Z) Usually, when using weapons, you’ll want to use the X. Y, Z buttons, but when trying to play the Ocarina, you’ll want to use the C-Stick/Right Analog instead. And “Z-Targeting” has been changed to the Left Shoulder Button on both controllers (the L Button.) Despite all this, the game hasn’t been changed to reflect these changes. Your fairy will still advise you to use “Z-Targeting” even if it’s now controlled with the L Button.Admittedly, these changes take some time to get used to. In the N64 controller, the B and A buttons are up and down from each other, so I usually found myself pounding on the Y Button of my Classic Controller wh.
Works great, money well spent!
This was the exact game that my granddaughters wanted for their new Nintendo 64. They haven’t stopped playing it yet.
Majora’s Mask seems to have risen from its ashes. When this game was released, it didn’t have quite the same fanfare as Ocarina of Time. But these days, it’s a consistent favorite amongst the Zelda faithful. You should probably check out the almost universally revered Ocarina of Time first if you’re looking for one of those Zelda games for this console, but Majora’s Mask is a good follow-up to that game.Story: The main plot is quite straightforward. After a mishap with Skull Kid, Link accidentally arrives in the parallel universe Termina. Then he discovers that Termina’s moon will crash into the planet unless Link awakens the four guardian giants within three days.Gameplay: Link is dubbed ‘The Hero of Time’ in Ocarina, but one could say that he really distinguishes himself as such in Majora’s Mask. You’re constantly working against time in this game. It’s basically impossible to awaken the giants within the given three days, so Link must use the Song of Time to travel back in time if he runs out. After completing a dungeon, your progress is essentially permanent even when you go back in time. But if you fail to complete it before going back, you have to more or less start over. There are sidequests galore in Majora’s Mask, all of which are centered around the amount of time Termina has left to live. You could spend quite a bit of ‘time’ trying to complete all of those sidequests.Controls: They work the same as Ocarina of Time, but for whatever reason, MM’s striking patterns,.
