Silicon Valley was intended to be the most technologically advanced amusement park civilization has ever known. Shortly after take-off, it disappeared. Now, in the year 3000, it’s back and on a collision course with Earth! The game features over 30 levels of remarkably well put together missions that have players doing everything from jumping into the bodies of hovering sheep to taking over farting rats in order to solve puzzle-based challenges and advance. It’s all great fun but remember, the fate of the world is in your hands!

As soon as Spacestation: Silicon Valley was inserted in my Nintendo 64, I really had no idea what to expect. I had read some articles in the past on the game in my favorite magazine, N64, and it seem to be shaping up to be a good game. However, I never thought that SSV would be one of the best games I had ever played. Well, SSV is just that: one of the most original, twisted, challenging, and addictive games available on the market today. Some, if not all gamers, have never even heard of the game. Well, to start, let me give a brief background on how the game begins, and how it is played. The game starts off with an introduction scene, in which a news station reports that SSV, a huge floating space colony, is still missing in space (making it 1000 years since it vanished). They have sent out various crews to find Spacestation, but have come up empty handed. Here, is where Evo (you), a robot, and Dan, the companion, come into play. They are a bunch of space freaks, who happen to accidentally crash land in SSV after arguing about what music to listen to. The landing breaks Evo into pieces, which float off into space; except for one key piece: the piece that is used to posses other robotic animals. This is one of the most created aspects of SSV, and there are more than forty different animals you can take control of. As you may have guessed, each animal has its own abilities, ranging from the classic water spray the elephant has, to the exploding brown mines the ra.
One of my favorite games from my childhood. I’m glad I’ve repurchased this and play it all the time on my N64.

So many of the early Nintendo 64 games, despite their now creaky graphics, remain the very best video games of all, and as much fun today as they were in their heyday. Along with Super Mario 64, and Banjo-Kazooie, this one of great 3d platform games, though not nearly as well known as the former. It features a series of stages in which you, a silicon chip, assume mind control over various animals so that you can use their unique capabilities — the strength of a hippo, the smallness of a mouse, the ability of a monkey to climb, a fish to submerge — to accomplish mission-like tasks and, thereby, make progress in the game. For each stage, it is necessary to apply to correct capabilities in the right sequence to solve various problems on your way to accomplishing the mission. It involves imagination, skill at manipulating each creature you take control of, and clever problem-solving. And there’s a bonus: like some of the other early N64 games, the background music is just wonderful.
