I love sonic and my kids enjoy this game as well. It’s pretty much like the Sega Genesis versions, BUT I just wish these games would recognize the cheat codes. For example, when I try to activate the cheat code in sonic 1 (up, down, left, right, A, START) I hear the ring sound, but when I try to press A and START it just starts the game at the very first level, and Sonic 2 doesn’t have the sound test menu where you input the code: 19, 65, 09 & 17 followed by the UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, A, START code at the main menu.
Looks good!!
Bought this for my son and he loved it! The game is age appropriate and I even played it a few times! It’s a great game for everyone.
Honestly I think I like this game more than my son lol. Hes 7 and may be too fast paced for him. I don’t regret getting it though as he likes to watch me play.
This was ordered for my son’s birthday. He loves it!
It’s pretty straightforward: the first four Sonic games on one cartridge. Considering that the series was at its strongest in these 4 titles, that should speak for itself. There are just a couple of small changes I’ve noticed. They added a "save anytime" to sonic 1 & 2, but the title is misleading; it brings you back to the start of the zone where you saved. Just be aware of that.I deducted one star for the other difference: I ran into a lot more lag than the Genesis versions. It doesn’t hurt it too much, since the controls are still responsive, but the "blast processing" is clearly absent from this port.Still, graphics & music appear spot-on, and gameplay is intact once you adapt to using the different d-pad. I recommend it to nostalgia-seekers and people who want to know what Sonic games were like before they started sucking.
Great game and good price.I love to see my wife having fun;-)
My only complaint is that there is a bit of emulator lag, even though I’m playing on a 3DS XL. Sonic 1 is the worst offender, but the others seem to have occasional slowdowns too.The Sonic 3 3D sphere stages are very jittery. I remember the later 3D sphere stages would lag down on the Genesis, so I can’t imagine them running very well on the the DS or 3DS.
Kids love playing this game. I would recommend it highly, just because of the hours of entertainment.
Purchased for my grandson and he loves it.
