First of all, anyone who gives this game less than 5 stars is crazy; don’t listen to anything they say. This is my favorite game of all time. It has three modes: the really fast run-through-the-level-as-fast-as-possible mode that is a trademark of Sonic games (for Sonic and Shadow), a mech-like robot mode for tails and Dr. Eggman (AKA Dr. Robotnik), and a seach for the object mode (Rouge the bat and Knuckles the Echidna). The game also has incredible replay value. There are three different stories: Hero and Dark (Which culminate in the same ending) and the Last story, which is the ending to the hero/Dark story. In adition, you must beat each level in 5 differnt ways to get a Sonic emblem. There are 180 emblems total and it takes around 5:00 to complete most levels, so in theory, it takes at least 9000 minutes (150 hours) beat the game completely. In practice, it takes a lot longer than that, so you don’t have to worry about finining the game and getting bored. As trivial as this may sound, the background music is also a huge plus. Only a handful of songs have lyrics, but each level has its own music that really sets the tone for the level (ex.: City escape has a fast-paced, upbeat song and the haunted Pumpkin Mountain has a spooky song. The old Sonic days when you got one song for each 4-level “world” is gone. The character designs and powerups are also awesome with one exception: Knuckles’s Hammer gloves look like colored blocks on his hands. But seriously, Shadow is the coolest looking thing ever. My kudos to his designer. All the other characters look cool too, but Shadow rules. Another really cool thing is the mini-games. Once again, you can take your chao on an “Adventure” with your VMU (the Sonic Games are the only games on the VMU that you can actually play), but that’s not what I was talking about. The 2 Player mode and Kart racing are increadible for the kart racing, think Mario Kart64, multiply the graphics by two, divide the number of tracks by three and take away the items. When you have to compare a mini-game to a comparable game, you know its a good one. In 2P mode, you can choose to play as Hero or Dark characters in a race, treasure hunt, or battle Royal. Another the cool new feature of SA2 comes as a result of the Sonic Team’s deal with Soap shoes: sonic and Shadow can grind with thier shoes. The last level in the hero story requires you to travel in space by grinding, which is hard but fun. This is the best game ever. Even if I didn’t own a Dreamcast I would at least consider buying one just for this game. This game is comparable in fun level to the entire Final Fantasy series as a whole…only it’s better.

This game has a few small flaws which ruin a lot of fun in the game.Graphics:Hah! Sony can never top this! Smooth, fast and highly detailed. You wouldn’t believe that the Sonic/Shadow-levels are still playable at such a furious speed. But… the camera is still bad. This doesn’t matter in the Sonic/Shadow-levels since you just run forward. In the Tails/Robotnik-levels it gets worse: there’s more platform-jumping involved. But in the Knuckles-levels it’s a nightmare; you’ll have to find 3 small gems in each level and the camera moves around you like a drunk. I even got dizzy from this!Speaking of the Knuckles-levels, who liked them in SA1 anyway? In SA1 you didn’t have to play them because you could choose with which character you wanted to play. This isn’t the fact in SA2: you’ll have to play the Knuckles-levels if you like it or not, so you’ll find yourself searching a stupid little gem for 20 minutes to be able to play those great Sonic-levels again……because the Sonic-levels are top notch! It really catches the essence of good old Sonic 1/2, although it’s a little too easy. The difficulty is compensated completely by the unbelievable graphics, though. The Tails/Robotnik-levels hang a bit in between. Sometimes it’s lots of fun to play, blowing up everything that crosses your path, but sometimes there’s far too much platform-jumping. This sometimes made me want to throw my beloved DC straight out the window. I don’t know what it is about 3D-platformers, I get frustrated much easier with them than their, in my opinion much better, 2D-counterparts.Lots of people hated the adventurepart in SA1. I think it was a great idea but it wasn’t executed the way they intended. It added a lot of depth to the game, although I admit it could be quite frustrating from time to time. That’s also a thing that SA2 misses: depth. The rich and sometimes even touching (that robot had to deactivate his own “brother!) storylines of the original are completely missing here. It wasn’t a good idea to sacrifice this for speed. You’ll finish the game quite quickly. After that you can do some extra missions for each level, but the fun wears of very fast. The multiplayermode is also very dull.So how does is all add up? Making the game liniair was a big mistake. You won’t be able to skip the game’s bad parts, and it has got quite a few of them. So why did I still give it a reasonable mark? The Sonic/Shadow-levels are awesome, that’s why. And altough there are only 10, 3-minuteduring ones of them, it still makes the game kinda worth your money. You’ll keep playing through the flaws to reach these levels. So I think you should buy it, even though I don’t think it has the charming character of the first part, nor the challenging gameplay of the oldies. And ofcourse to give Sega a final round of applause…

This game lacks some of what sonic 1 had you can’t go around town square and talk to people. Sonic One was a lot more adventure filled than Sonic 2. I think If you want to save money just get sonic 1 and wait for the price of sonic 2 to drop
This is one of my favorite videogames! There are a lot of differences compared to Sonic Adventure 1!1.The graphics-The graphics are so much different than those of Sonic Adventure 1!2.The stages-The levels are longer and harder. There are much more differences! The harder level is Cannon’s Core. Its so long and hard that its my favorite level! There are more than 30 levels and the Chao! They are more cute and intelligent! Now there is a Kindergarten that has the Health Center, Classroom, and Principal office. And if you get all 180 embles, you get a reward! A 3d Green Hill that appeard in Sonic 1! If you don’t have this game buy it!

I was eagerly anticipating this game in the mail. It’s a bit rare nowadays so I didn’t mind the fact it took almost a week to get to me after I ordered it with 2 day shipping. When it finally came, I open the envelope but it turns out instead of Sonic Adventure 2 the full game like I was promised, I ended up with Sonic Adventure 2: The Trial. I basically paid nearly thirty dollars for a demo disc marked incorrectly.

Beautiful video game. Revolutionary Sega Dreamcast graphics. Great classic and a must-have for every Sonic The Hedgehog nerd, out there.
This game has everything the original sonic adventure had and then some. The game has some of the best and fastest graphics on the dreamcast. The games feel is incridible speed is the name of the game and with six playable characters and two different story lines ( one for good and one for evil) the game has lots of replay value. SA2 even has something the original doesn’t a multiplayer mode. While its only for 2 players its still a lot of fun. This is a shining peice of work in the sad sad sad last days of dreamcast. Is this its dying breathe, well… not exactly but it’s still a whole lot of fun for a great price. If you at all liked the original pick this one up now!!!!!! you won’t regret it

Well.. sure, they can have a childhood just fine without it, but I pity them. This is the best Sonic game anytime between 1991 to 2005.
One of the last great games to send off the Dreamcast, Sega pulled out all the stops in this sequel to their top launch title. Sonic Adventure 2 takes everything the first game was, and refines it and tries to top it as much as it can. The levels are huge (although some are not as vast and distinct as those in the original) and the action is super fast, but the ultra smooth frame rate never drops and the graphics are sharp and some of the best to ever grace the system. Sonic Adventure 2 is not as challenging as the first, and some of the harder and more challenging aspects of the first game have been made more simpler (raising Chao is easier than ever) and the game is easier to get into than ever before, even if you’ve never played a Sonic game. All in all, if you still have your Dreamcast then there is no reason why you don’t own this as well. Sonic Adventure 2 is one of the finest games for the system, and it is a fitting farewell for one of the beat and most underrated systems of all time.
