Great role playing game. I love it and the story line, even though you do not have the option of being a male or female, and no changing the characters looks, the game is still amazing. The characters are great and I recommened it to anyone.
Rune factory 3 and 4 are the better made games out of the Rune Factory name.
This is easily the best game in the Rune Factory series, which is nice, since Rune Factory 2 was more of a lateral shift than an actual improvement. The farming simulation is deeper. The combat is more kinetic. The characters are better-developed and more entertaining. There are lots of neat little stories to experience. The main character is probably the most interesting of the series (which surprised me, since the character design concerned me slightly… but in personality, he’s significantly less girly than other RF characters). And once you reach a certain level of friendship, you can actually bring villagers along with you.Probably the best improvement is that time passes indoors. There always came a point in the earlier installments when I found myself going to bed at noon simply because there was nothing left to do, and I needed time to pass. In this game, once my farming chores are done, there’s talking to villagers, or training, or working on requests, and because time passes indoors, all of these take time out of the day. You actually have to manage your time, which keeps the suspension of disbelief going quite well. The only downside with regard to gameplay is that money management is not necessary. Money comes easy in this game, almost from the beginning. But it isn’t that much of a detriment, since time management is important enough to keep things interesting. The girls are really over-the-top. They all seem crazy in some way, fitting various anime archetypes: t.
I bought this game for my 8 year old daughter, and we both take turns playing it ( I need to get my own copy, even though you can save two different games on it.) I love the graphics; they are amazing. I like the story line, the characters…everything about it. It is a game that even if you ‘read it’ that you will definitely go back and start from scratch to enjoy again. I am thinking of buying the other Rune Factory ds games that came before it for her (and me) as well..I would recommend this for any one over age seven.
Love this game. Been wanting to get it for a long time now. Definitely one of the better Rune factories!
Will love this game. I believe there is a demo for Rune Factory 4 for the 3ds on the eShop. Check it out!
I’m posting under my husbands account as this is where the purchase was made.I absolutely loved RF4, and I’m currently waiting on SoS to come out, so I figured I’d pick up something else to play to hold me over until then. While this game is not nearly as captivating as RF4, I’d definitely say it is worth $20.Pros:~ Interesting Characters~ Beautiful artwork~ Easy to make money (I don’t feel like I have to grind my farm for every last coin)Cons:~ Some of the mechanics feel a little awkward (examples: the stacking of items, trying to pick things up, sorting your bag)~ I can’t find townspeople when I need them?! When they are in a house, you can’t see them on the map!~ I also prefer the gameplay to be on the top screen with the map on the bottom.
Great game
I’ve played Rune Factory games for every system and, honestly, this is definitely in my top 3. The art style for all of the characters and landscaping is gorgeous, only issue are the sprites but you’re never really looking at it.
Rune Factory 4 was my first game in the series. It set a very high bar that, unfortunately, RF3 was not able to meet. It’s a nice game, but compared to RF4 the dialogue is more repetitive and dull. In addition, the equipment crafting system is fairly simple (which might be a boon to some, but not to me) and you’re stuck playing as a single gender. The protagonist, Micah, has the most aggravating voice ever and sadly there’s no option to mute sound effects. My last main gripes are that the controls can be wonky (I can’t consistently dash when playing on my 3DS), the shipping box acts as a miniature black hole from which items cannot be retrieved, and similar items don’t stack when held so weeding takes a long time. Other than all that, I’d say completionist gamers who’ve played other Harvest Moon-esque games will find plenty to be satisfied with in this installment.
