The game is exactly what I expected! Great purchase for a great price!
It was delivered quickly and met all expectations. Great price compared to stores and comes with all the cards :)
Persona Q is like a jelly donut. It’s the Etrian Odyssey mold with a Persona filling–a pastry which, when you finally get to taste it, turns out to taste maybe just a little less sweet than you had hoped for. All the ingredients are there, but it’s missing something special. But what the heck…Rei would still eat it and want more, and probably so would you.Let’s start with a breakdown of what exactly Persona Q is relative to its “parents”. It’s got your Etrian Odyssey dungeons and character formations, with some major changes based on the Persona combat system. Unfortunately, herein lies the problem, albeit a small one. The game really feels like Atlus threw some Etrian noodles at the Velvet Room wall to see what stuck. Obviously the abilities and Persona Fusion mechanics scream “Persona” gameplay, but they are forced into an awkward equilibrium with Etrian Odyssey mechanics. See, Persona games are all about an extremely simple combat system. That’s right, Persona fans, we play games with a simple combat system. Get used to it. Persona is all about using SP to hit weaknesses and knock enemies down. Do that and you get to move again, and–depending on whether you prefer grinding or plot (P3 vs P4 joke…)–you’ll either cause that enemy to lose a turn, or you have to hit him again and he’ll be stunned. This works great. It’s simple and it is enjoyable enough when coupled with the other mechanics of persona to provide a good 50% Dungeon Crawler/50% Visual Novel experience. Et.
Quick shipping, good item.
I love the game! I don’t like some of the mechanics, like everyone being able to see the Velvet Room or everyone being able to summon multiple personas, but the game over all is well done!
I love this game!
Persona 3 and 4 are some of my favorite games, ever. The arena ones not so much…. If you liked Persona 3 and 4, just get this. Seriously… Was so nice to be with all the characters again. The gameplay is definitely different, and you won’t have the social link elements, but there are tons of side missions and interaction activities to hang out with your friends, as it were…What this game really is is Etrian Odyssey, with a Persona skin. I love the Etrian Odyssey games as well, or at least…. I always want to love them. I love the mapping aspect, and the combat is just fine, but Etrian Odyssey never has more than a token generic story, and I get bored. This game is a perfect mix of the two, even though you wouldn’t expect that to actually be good. :) It just is. Everything clicks nicely, you get Etrian Odyssey style dungeon crawling with demon fusions, a genuinely interesting story, and all the personality of the Persona series.
The first copy of this game I got slightly defective, and errored out in several places (including at the start of the final battle…). The second copy (this one) had none of these errors.
VERY GOOD
If you love both persona q and etrian odyssey your going to LOVE this game… I am one of those that loved both series so I am enjoying this game tremendously right now. I actually LOVE the little chibi version of the crew its adorable and it fits the 3ds well. And i love all the new features on the map making tools that previous etrain odyssey did not have. Its great to see the cast back with the same vo actors as well. I hope they make another one:)
