it was a gift for a friend
This game really leaves you w/ a sense of accomplishment the more you figure out and the farther you get. You grow stronger and pick up new friends. I did happen to get stuck and miss something important, not have the guide, look online, realize I had to go back, got lost, and I REALLY didn’t want to restart the dungeon and re-travel the ghost roads!! I re-rented this game 2 or 3 times and i really liked it, but i got frusterated and never bought it. i reccommend it if you do everything in order and follow the guide! Then it’s SO much fun.
This game is one of the biggest suprises for me this year. I bought it the same day as MGS2 and never played through the game untill a few weeks ago. The game starts out a little tedius and the battle system is very simple. The story however, after about 15 hours of gameplay, is VERY VERY good. This was a huge suprise to me expecting it to just a game of run around kill the evil kings and bring back stan. If you are willing to stick with the game for 10-15 hours you will not be let down.
A great game. Though when it came the plastic holding the box art was slightly damaged. It still gets 5 stars of course for it had all the components. Manual, Game, and Case. I highly recommend getting it here. Came quicker than usual too.
The characters and their unique personalities are the best features of Okage. The graphics are good, the towns are designed quite well, the plot is good and original.. It’s just that some parts of the game can be very frustrating, such as the many dungeons you have to get through. The battles can be tedious or pointless [because the enemy is killed in one hit]. Overall, it’s a fun game, and a twist on the usual RPG.
got it for my grand daughter for Christmas she wanted it I found I got and she was happy and so was I
I went to EB Games and looking at some new games I wished to buy and when I went up to the counter to purchase this game the employee said he thought it was a game. Buying it for only $8.99 I took the chance! This game has an excellent plot… Their is a family (Grandmother, Grandfather, Father, Mother. Annie, and her older brother. Well Annie is put under a curse by a ghost (she can only speak pig latin) And then King Stan and servant James maggically appear at the house offering tio lift the curse in exchange for "evil servants"! And she is lifted of the curse and Evil Stan takes over the older brother’s shadow. you play as the older brother… and the fun continues! In addition to the great plot the gameplay and graphics are awesome.
This game may not be for everyone, but is worth renting to find out if it is for you. Okage adds a new humorous twist to the rpg genre. The characters are very well developed. The battle system adds some unique features, like being able to combine all three characters attack’s into one for extra damage. The story line is very strange but will keep you hooked and entertained. I have owned the game for one week and already on the last chapter. Do not think the game is short though (I beat final fantasy 8 in about the same amount of time). I hope you will give this game a try. This is the only rpg for the PS2 that I’ve been satisfied about buying, and I own almost all rpg’s for the PS2. I own 42 PS2 games altogether and am most satisfied with this one…
Very good artsy turn based rpg. It’s story and sense of humor are where it shines, the gameplay is a little wonky though but anyone who is willing to buy such an old game won’t mind anyway. I’d spend anywhere up to 20$ on this.
There are flaws, which I believe have been mentioned. Yes, there are some long load times. Yes, occasionally the game seems to go on boring stretches. And yes, going into the dungeons and fighting the "evil kings" is repetitive. But if you stick with the game, everything changes, and you can forgive the flaws easily. One of the themes they play on at the very beginning of the game is the old "Don’t judge a book by it’s cover" adage. This holds true for the game itself – I’m just now beginning to unravel the actual, real plot of the game, and I’m almost ten hours into it – a great mistake by the game makers, but it is an incredible story. The game really isn’t for everybody; the humor bears greay resemblance to that of "Earthbound" or the Monkey Island series, and the long conversations can only be enjoyed by honest RPG fans. However, if you are looking for a compelling game (And you don’t mind spending some time dragging yourself through some rather tedious missions), then you can’t go wrong with "Okage."And if you’re still not sure, rent it and play it for a good ten-fifteen hours before you make a decision – that’s where the MAJOR plot twist comes in (I don’t want to spoil it for anybody who doesn’t know).
