The new design not only makes the console more durable by removing the need for hinges, but its button placement also makes it easier to focus on the top screen while following the action.
POWERFUL PROCESSOR
Its main central processing unit is a dual-core ARM11 MPCore-based processor clocked at 266 MHz. One processor core is dedicated to games and applications, while the other core is exclusive to the operating system, enabling multitasking and background tasks. These tasks are handled seamlessly in the background during gameplay or while the system is in sleep mode. The system also contains a single-core ARM9-based processor, enabling backward compatibility with both Nintendo DS and DSi titles.
OUTSTANDING PARTICULARITIES
The console retains the 2 cameras capable of taking 3D photos and videos, a built-in microphone and battery, this time with an increased play time, being able to last up to 9 hours on a charge, depending on the games you are playing. Also, you have the same 2 generous screens, the bottom one being a resistive touchscreen and while the system includes 2 GB of flash memory, it can be expanded by another 2 GB through an SD card.

- The 3DS was initially believed to be a failure, so in order to make up for the losses, Nintendo executives took a pay cut, with the company’s president cutting his salary in half. However, the system turned out to be one of the most popular that Nintendo ever released!
Stopped working after 6months of receiving it. Nintendo support won’t help because this company sends devices that are not from the US. The serial # is from another region and the only support Nintendo will offer is to exchange it for a fee of over $50.

Less expensive than a 3DS, only complaint it that it can be a little difficult to connect to wifi initially, I had to trouble shoot this for an hour or so. But other than that it is great. My daughter likes it better than her DS, and downloading games is a nice option.

I got for my grandson. Its Very easy to use. Came a few days early. it was the right color I ordered. It came packaged very well no dents scratches no cracks very nice.. I’m ordering more for my other grandkids because they liked his so much.
Design wise, the New 2DS XL has all of the best design choices of the 3DS. Loss of 3D isn’t bad, my one critique is the stylus is too small.
I am absolutely in love with my new 2DS XL. I’m a 32 year old man reliving his childhood with the old school Zelda games. Currently playing Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons soon to follow. I am keeping my fingers crossed they re-release Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask on the Switch this year before I end up purchasing them for the DS.To be honest I am not a fan of how Nintendo has select re-released games on the Switch and the DS line. If able without hacking I would have loved to play these games on my Switch, but Nintendo has to keep the DS line alive somehow right?Anyways, I love it. It feels cheap compared to a Switch but I love it. Get one if you’re into older games that can’t be played on the Switch. You won’t regret it.

Bought it for my daughter. It comes with a 4GB SD card. I bought a 64GB SD card and swapped it in. (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XX29S9Q/ you need to format that 64GB card to FAT32 in order for it to work in the 2DS) Battery seems to last for about 2 days worth of playing. Screen picks up a lot of prints, so get a cover for it.
What can I say? I love it. Great build quality. Plays most of DS games, except those that utilized the GBA slot in some way, and all 3DS games. The lack of 3D can be an issue with some games that make heavy use of it, but if you are like me and 3D made your eyes hurt and gave you headache then you would have had it turned off on the 3DS either way. Before getting this I had a DS Lite, I pretty much would have skipped on the 3DS if it weren’t for the new 2DS XL. Great product, I love it!

I had was a DS Lite back in the day, on which I played probably more of the available catalog (NDS and GBA) than I have on any other console. After a couple years it ended up in a drawer, and eventually I gave it to a friend whose DS had broken. I felt I’d gotten more than my money’s worth on the system and I’d moved on to other things.I skipped the entire 3DS generation – I’m one of those people who gets sick if I watch a 3D movie for too long, so as the 3D effect was an early driver of the system, I just passed. When the 2DS came out I was interested – the form factor looked nice to play – despite loving the DS Lite I wasn’t 100% a fan of the clam shell design, but I also didn’t like that it wasn’t going to fit into my pockets. Couldn’t have it both ways.When the New 2DS XL was announced, it was the first time in a long time that I wanted a new console on day one. Normally I wait a long while before picking up a new system, waiting for reviews, etc, to see if the platform has a future that excites me. But as we’re probably getting closer to the end of the 3DS era, I looked at it from a different perspective, looking back at ecosystem already available.I’ve recently begun getting back into portable consoles, and I like having access to as many generations as possible. I’d sold my GBA when I bought the DS Lite back in the day, but I was craving some classic Game Boy action, so I splurged on a custom, backlit modded, GBA so I could play GB/GBC/GBA games from my childhood. I’ve been steadily collecting and playing though all of the games that I didn’t get to as a kid.What sold me on the New 2DS XL was perfect combination of ecosystem and hardware. I love the look and feel of it. I like that it’s thinner than normal 3DSs. I love that I’m not wasting any power on the 3D I’ll never use. Most importantly, I love having a single device that bridges the entire ecosystem of portable Nintendo games post Game Boy. DS/DSi/3DS/N3DS – I have access to all of them. There aren’t a lot of games that need or are enhanced by the “New” processor, but I like not having to sacrifice that along with the 3D.I go back and forth on the screen size – sometimes I’m very grateful for the XL, sometimes I wish the system could be a little more pocketable like my GBA. I also don’t like that the battery isn’t easily replaceable – as I’m planning on having just one system, and playing from a large backcatalog over a long time, I accept that I’m probably going to have to replace the battery a few years from now. In fact, the only thing that stopped me from literally buying the console on day one was my wait for a teardown video to see what replacing the battery would look like. It looks like a little hassle, but easily in my comfort zone.Ultimately, I’ve never owned an NES, SNES, or N64 – but I love that I still have access to ports of their best games via my GBA and now my 2DS. I love that I can finally go back and replay some of the DS games I enjoyed, and also try the games I passed the first time around. I’m also really loving the 3DS catalog – I’m buying everything digital because these days I avoid carts if I can – and I find it very hard to not take advantage of the sales and rewards in the eShop to build up my 3DS library.I’m not sure about the value to people who are already invested in the 3DS ecosystem and already have a console – but for me, the New 2DS XL is perfect.
