So cute I loved this cartoon when I was little and my daughter qhis three loves it also…..shipping was fast and arrived unscathed
Glad that we finally got an official release of this show from Paramount. Although on tv there was two segments per episode. On this dvd each segment is its own episode so when your binge watching you have to sit through the opening theme and end credits a lot. Minor complain though. Love the set.
Perfect addition to any Teen Nick fan collection. Brings me back to my childhood. We plan to get additional seasons!
My daughter loves Rugrats, however this show is no longer part of Prime and I am not going to pay $1.99 per episode for her to watch it.My daughter loves Rugrats, however it is no longer part of Prime. I am not going to pay $1.99 for her to watch a much older tv show. Quite a lot of shows on retrolio Prime are old shows. Not impressed with retrolio Prime. Netflix doesn’t have you pay for anything once you pay your monthly fee.
I love the Rugrats, I just wish I hadn’t waited so long to buy them on DVD. Now half the seasons are no longer available. :(
This is such a classic and defining show of the nineties, and while it’s a shame to not see a proper release of the show on DVD, I’m glad for the opportunity to at least own the episodes in chronological order on these Made On Demand DVD-R’s. This set collecting the first season contains the following thirteen episodes from 1991-1992:1 Tommy’s First Birthday2 Barbeque Story / Waiter, There’s A Baby In My Soup3 At The Movies / Slumber Party4 Baby Commercial / Little Dude5 Little Miss Lovely / Tommy At Bat6 Ruthless Tommy / Moose Country7 Grandpa’s Teeth / Momma Trauma8 Real Or Robots / Special Delivery9 Candy Bar Creep Show / Monsters In The Garage10 Weaning Tommy / Incident In Aisle Seven11 Touchdown Tommy / The Trial12 Fluffy Vs. Spike / Reptar’s Revenge13 Graham Canyon / Stu-Makers’ ElvesHaving now watched all the episodes on DVD I can say that the audio and video quality is not something you should be worried about when buying these Made On Demand sets. I am very uptight when it comes to the quality of the things I own and I can say that all the episodes were presented in the same, if not better than, quality they originally aired. My only issue as far as any of the retrolio Made On Demand sets is that being a purist I’d like the opening theme to play before every episode and not just the first one on each disc, but that’s a very minor issue.I personally had no issue playing the DVD-R type discs on any of my DVD player’s or even on my Sony DVD Recorder. I have p.
Happy to finally own season sets (this one and season 2) of the Rugrats. Glad Paramount/Nickelodeon finally decided to release official pressed discs. Never bought any of the previous MOD (retrolio Exclusive) releases because they are all DVD-R. Can’t wait for the rest of the seasons to be release. Hopefully season 1 and season 2 DVDs sells really well to convince Paramount/Nickelodeon there are fans out there wanting to own the show.
This DVD set is great. My boys & I love everything about it. It came well packaged, all dvds are in great condition, and they all have the correct episodes on each disc. Its amazing watching all of these episodes again, this was my favorite show as a child and watching these gave me that same feeling I had as a child, its mesmerizing..honestly. I am 100% happy with this purchase and I recommended everyone to buy it.
So hard to believe that out of all of the classic Nicktoons, they still have not released the official Rugrats seasons. This is as close as we’ve come so far. It’s a Made On Demand DVD, and honestly do not expect it to look anything better than homemade. The DVD menus lack animation or music. It looks like someone downloaded a desktop background, slapped some Rugrats font on it, and half-***ed the menu out of Roxio or some other home use software. The DVD case isn’t bad, but still looks homemade. When arriving it came in a Manila envelope without protection so damage may occur in shipping. That’s the bad. There is good though in this. The quality of the episodes is nice. Let’s be honest with ourselves, up until now we’ve only had VHS copies we’ve recorded from the past or episodes we’ve found online (I won’t judge you) and the episodes are riddled with horrid Nick splashes in the corner, obtrusive overlays for upcoming episodes, or commercials. About ten to twelve minutes of commercials per episode. This is none of that mess. It’s great quality 4:3 episodes on DVD. Sure you could download the seasons from retrolio or iTunes probably cheaper than the DVD, but then you have the dreaded mess of ensuring you have and will continue to have to storage for it.Overall, for what it is its a good buy at a steep price. But who can put a price tag on nostalgia? I’ve found even today’s generation of kids can enjoy this show, and as for us adults it is an experience strolling down memory lane.
What started as an “infant thought” from Arlene Klasky and Gabor Csupo, parents to a couple of toddlers, where their children had adventures behind their backs ended up becoming one of Nickelodeon’s longest running cartoons in a 13 year run from 1991 to 2004, which the crown would later be passed to SpongeBob SquarePants, which celebrated 20 years on the air in May 2019.The Season 1 set I have is the 2 disc by Paramount. It contains the 13 half hour episodes, each broken up by story with the opening and respective credits for each story. It’s a step up from the 3 disc MOD burned disc set and I should warn there is an auto-play feature not unlike the early Disney FastPlay where, if left uninterrupted, will run until input is entered.I don’t have the proper equipmentprogramming to check for closed captioning like traditional television instead of the absent English SDH that some companies go with. I will check on this on a later date.Worth Mentioning: In “Real or Robots?” and “Special Delivery” Chuckie’s mother is mentioned as alive. It’s worth it. Paramount and Warner Brothers are notorious for being slow with their NickToons and Cartoon Cartoons stables respectively.
