THEN GET THIS GAME! Seriously, it’s an absolutely fantastic follow up of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I warn you though, it’s addictive but for all the right reasons. I haven’t got through the whole story yet but if you’re a fan of SRPGs you’re probably less concerned about it than you are how well the battle system holds up. It’s essentially a slightly refreshed version of FFTA’s system, however, the user interface feels much smoother. The touch screen is usable but not really necessary and sometimes the things you have to touch are so tiny that it’s not worth it and the buttons do the job so it’s really not worth it unless you’re a touch junkie and WANT to do it that way (not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course). I’ll finish up saying I’m not even that much a fan of SRPGs and can really enjoy this game. It’s challenging but easy to get into.
Love this game so much. It has so much charm and is pretty dang polished. FFT is my favorite game of all time, and even though this doesn’t match it in some ways it improves in others. It’s a game where the grind is fun and I keep getting just a few more quests done while I vacation and am on a plane or something.
Good game good price enjoyable and one of my favorites
This game is as much fun as the original Final Fantasy Tectics game, however it is still not as good. I did not gave it a 5 star rating for all the reasons already discussed by previous reviewrs. The most important being: limited character customization, average story line, kind of easy (even in hard mode) and repetitive quests. If you are a fan of the original title or you like turn based strategy games, this title is definetly for you. I would highly recomend the game.
As someone who thoroughly enjoyed the Final Fantasy Tactics series installments on handhelds, A2 satisfied that craving for turn-based strategy incredibly well on the DS. In comparison to previous installments, the game feels much more accessible to casual gamers (those who might pick up and play on occasion) but absolutely holds enough deep content to reward those who have played FFT before who may really want to invest their time finding every side mission and secret weapon. The premise of the game is much more on the light side and feels something akin to a children’s book at the start. But DO NOT let that stop you from trying out the game!! The story inevitably comes into its own and becomes more rewarding the further in you get. The battle system alone sets the game apart from most RPG’s as well as how much fun the job system adds to fully customizing your crew of mages, soldiers, and archers (amongst many many other flavors of warriors). This game is great for long road trips or as a gift for the more meticulous and strategic minded gamer. I highly recommend giving this one a try.
Item came new and sealed. Game plays great. Classic Tactical RPG
The only Final Fantasy games I’ve played are this one and Final Fantasy tactics: war of the lions. I wouldn’t say that this is better than WTL but it is a man interesting follow up and has had me hooked from the start. The difficulty isn’t on WTL’s level so I think this would be a good start for a first turn based RPG. Even though it is a DS game it is worth hunting down to play on 3DS.
This is a nice game and to me improves allot in comparison to its predecessor on the gameboy advanced. The graphics are nice and smooth and there are tons of features and job classes to sink into as well. My only complaint is with its ridiculous law system. The laws sometimes state you cannot cause more damage that set amount or your not allowed to miss a target. I mean its a little absurd. Another thing I am not happy about is the fact that random battles do not occur to help you train through the classes and get your characters stronger for quests you want to take on. The last thing I am disappointed with is the fact that you cannot keep monsters you tame in Final Fantasy Tactics on the PSOne you could not only capture monsters to join your team but level them up to become advanced versions of themselves and sometimes you would even get them to breed and you could raise new ones to help you fight in battle. But I guess allot of my disappointments arise from the fact that I really really liked the first Final Fantasy Tactics and nothing has come close to reviving its glory.
PROS:- Better graphics (particularly dialogue pictures and spell effects)- more jobs/weapons- more challenging (fighting king blue for the first time will shock you)- option to dispatch a person or go on quest yourself (for a lot of quests you use to could only dispatch someone in FFTA)- dealing more damage from enemies behind/sides than from the front- more play time (as if the one on the GBA didn’t have enough)CONS:- storyline is not even close to being as good as the original FFTA. You start with a little punk with no respect for people.- I don’t think judge system is as good (some of the laws are practically impossible to keep) in that the enemy does not have to worry about the laws. If the rules are not to use MP, your enemy can still dish out MP w/o any penalty. This is especially frustrating when fighting against other clans. I liked the old rigid law system better.- There isn’t as much penalty for hitting a person face to face. (The % chance of hitting them is the same as if you hit them in the back) I prefered a bigger punishment for hitting people face on. Expect a lot more spells to be successfully performed on you (doom, sleep, confuse, and my least favorite, charm)Overall, I enjoyed the game, even though I liked FFTA for the GBA better. If you are as thorough as me, you will get 120+ hours out of this game.
Anyone who loves tactical org this is a must be game to own. Everything is awesome
