The Good: Great new song selection, the new tracks mode adds depth, unlocking comes at faster rates, tighter menusThe Bad: Still not enough to change the seriesDJ Max is probably the best rhythm game on the PSP, but that isn’t saying much since there aren’t too many on the system. The game has been well-known for its great song selection, and addictive rhythm game play, but after so many iterations of the same thing people were longing for some changes, and thankfully Portable 3 adds something new. While it may not be enough the game tightens some of the sloppy menus, and other minor issues with the long running series. The new mode is 3.2 and 4.2 tracks. You use the analog nub to new side bar that have purple streams running down them. You play the middle bar as usual, but when a purple stream runs down the side you move the analog nub accordingly. It remixes the songs, and adds a new layer of depth and fun to the game and makes it even more addictive. If you aren’t familiar with the series you press the corresponding button (depending on difficulty) to the track icons running down the screen. You are scored on timing and a percentage will pop up after each hit telling you how accurate that note was. You will see a little meter filling up in the middle of the screen and when it’s full you activate your fever mode to double your multiplier. In Portable 3 you can stack these up by getting your meter up again fast enough to add-on top of the multiplier. Once you finish you are sc.

This review is short and simple for those who like to go straight to the point.(Disclaimer: Review made in Oct 25, 2010, and having unlocked quite a deal of stuff in the game. Which means, some features may not have been reviewed due to still being locked in the game. The review will be updated if necessary):+ New songs. Amazing tunes, as expected from Pentavision. With genres that range from Reggaeton to k-pop to techno to ambient to rock to all sorts of tunes, this game has a song for everyone to enjoy.+ Old tunes, remixed. For those who are familiar with classic DJMAX tunes, you’ll be pleased to know some of them are back with a new kick to them.+ New Remix mode*. Aside from 4 button and 6 button, the game now has a 3.2, 4.2, and 6.2 (B) button mode (now named T, for Trax).+ Stunning Visuals. Pentavision has never failed in delivering a good deal of eye candy. It was also kind of strange to have a video that used a real life model. In Portable 1 and 2 they were always animated or pre-rendered videos in both 2D and 3D.- Classic Intro no more. In Portable 1 we had an awesome 2D animated intro. In Portable 2 we had another awesome animated intro but in 3D. In Portable 3… we got no quality animation intro whatsoever. We get the name of the producers and a picture of 3 girls… Kinda lame and lazy from their part.- 5 button mode is completely gone. I still don’t understand why they took this one away. It was so much fun and a great learning step for those who wanted to move f.
i’ve played almost every version available on PSP, aside Black Box, and this is one of my favourite. Great Songs, still boasts the insane DJ Max Difficulty (though may be a little easier than past games – still harder than DJM Fever I.M.O).Fun nonetheless, definitely recommended!
R&B songs: Check.Techno songs: Check.Rock songs: Check.Pop songs: Check.Really pop songs: Check again.Really, really pop-py songs that make you wanna scream “This is better than Justin Bieber” songs: Check and check. If you don’t know what DJ Max Portable is, it’s a video game exclusive created by Koreans and was made for PSP, PC, and Arcade. DJ Max is technically the Korean equivalent to Dance Dance Revolution with some setbacks, as in you only use your fingers than your feet. It has many music genres and each song is unique to their own. From a Techno song that is super fast-paced to a very girl-y and romantic pop song to a….(If you played the first and second DJ Max Portable, you’ll know what I mean) a song that quacks?????This series is a very upbeat and fast-paced game that can allow the player to customize their gear, DJ photo, and play settings by leveling up your status and gaining more stuff to further customize the game for you.If I were to compare this game to the other DJ Max Portable games (I have Black Square and Clazziquai and played all the other DJ Max Portable games), this isn’t as good as the other. BUT!!!!! If you look at this game alone, it’s good IMO. It’s very simple and easy for the newest players to pick up and easily get how to play this game. There’s a tutorial in the beginning. Even though there isn’t as many options in the main menu anymore, I like the simplicity of the menu:ArcadeMissionLoungeOptionsThat’s all there is in the main menu..

Holla DJ Max, and welcome to America. Thanks to PM Studios (and Pentavision!), this game franchise has finally seen it’s way West, with a totally new, and fresh game for our Stateside audience. While DJ Max Fever came out here, in North America, it was a rehash, and not quite what DJ Max #3 brings to the plate, this outing. This review is more of a review of the Limited Edition package, and less of the game itself. Look for a re-edit at a later time, after I get a chance to wrap my thumbs around the new gameplay. I have played a bit, though, so I’ll note a few, key new offerings.Firstly, the package is understated, compared to it’s past offerings most notably DJ Max Portable 2. I have all the Limited Editions, for every PSP release, accept for DJ Max Portable 1. This package contains the UMD version game, complete OST on CD, and color picture book of graphical drawings of gameplay visuals. I also got an alternate artwork UMD cover, with my copy, which shows the young, hip, girl, eye candy singers, on the cover. I’ll try to upload a photo of this alternate artwork, as well as pictures of the Display packaging, and contents. The box is a bit difficult to open, and is not as classy a packaging as say “Hot Tunes” (Japan only release) or DJ Max Portable 2. The box is significantly smaller than every prior release. All in all, I was not dissapointed, however, as others I’ve seen mention on the various message boards. The CD is enclosed in a fairly normal plastic casing, but n.
This game is much better than dj max 1 and 2, the graphics have improved that’s pretty much it and there’s also a new game mode where you can use the analog with the normal keys.
