It’s been over a decade and still a good movie. It does have a surprisingly large amount of violence for a children’s movie but it is the animal kingdom after all.
When I was finished watching this movie, I was outside looking for trees to climb and swing from. This is a great movie that will make you want to live in a jungle for the rest of your days.
I suppose we are meant to wait for Disney to give this a decent two-disc treatment. Right now there are few extras on the dvd (though the languages are rather amazing). The movie, the well-known tale from Edgar Rice Burroughs, is very well done, with terrific songs from Phil Collins, very nice voice work and delightful animation. There is some violence and four deaths, though they aren’t bloody.Extras include a trivia game, a storybook version of the film with optional read-along, a Collins music video and a behind-the-scenes studio session with Collins. The film can be heard in English, Cantonese or Mandarin; and subtitles are available in English, Mandalay, Bahasa, Thai or Korean!
This movie has been a favorite of mine since its initial release. I saw it in the theaters and was blown away by the sheer beauty of the locales and Mr. Collins’ music. I went to see it twice and then eagerly anticipated the VHS in February 2000, trust me, it seemed like forever!Anyway, I skipped the DVD from the 2000’s and was very happy to grab this Blu-ray edition. The movie is of-course a first rate Disney classic with state of the art technology, catchy music and the obligatory sidekicks and gags. This being a regular release, as opposed to the Diamond Editions, it lacks in bonus features and will not resume playing from where you’d left off which is a pity as I had gotten used to it already. Why does Disney do that?Anyway, the picture quality alone is worth your purchase, And of course it doesn’t hurt that it’s a great film.
Correct version. Good movie
Disney has apparently decided to flex their DVD muscle with the release of Tarzan. After several disappointing (bare-bones and overpriced) DVD’s from their animated classics archive, Disney has created a masterpiece! The transfer is one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen. Enhanced for 16:9, bonus materials include previews, a Tarzan storybook, DVD-ROM materials and a couple Phil Collins videos. English, French and Spanish language tracks are available. Phil Collins even sings in French or Spanish on the respective tracks. VERY COOL! To the folks at Disney, congratulations on a spectacular release of which you can be proud. To consumers- BUY IT!
ItĂ¢â‚¬â„¢s one of my favorite movies.
Great movie
This is an excellent DVD for both young viewers, and us older fans of the Disney animation studios. The characters are well rounded, and given excellent voice by Tony Goldwyn and Minnie Driver. The part of Kerchak is lent it’s gravely tone by Lance Henriksen of Terminator, and Aliens. Don’t miss Rosie O’Donnell either as Terk.On the technical side the transfer to DVD is flawless. Video and audio are well synched with no drop outs or jumps. One small annoyance. The DVD forces you to sit through untold previews of up and coming Disney attractions, web sites, advertising, etc. You can only keep pressing your fast forward button to get to the end of them. Thankfully they seemed to have gotten away from that in later releases (Emporers New Groove)
Bought this for car drives. This was a great price and love the dvd. Both of my boys (3 and 5) love this movie too. I like it as an adult too!
