After a disappointing part 4, Tekken 5 came back with what really took the approach to going back to what made the series a benchmark not only for fighting games, but video games in general. The PSP version not only has the two great new characters, but packed with bonuses, extras, and add-ons. Great fun to play with many levels of depth, magnificent movesets, colorful characters and great story. My only concern is the fact that the PSP button layout is not ideal for this kind of game, so it’s tricky sometimes to pull off certain techniques. But rest assured there is no better game on the PSP still.
Yes, this is a good game for the PSP and I will not repeat all the good things that have been described in the previous reviews. However, this is not a perfect game and some issues remain:The first one is inherent to the PSP joystick, it is very difficult on a PSP to do a diagonal. And Diagonals are very important in Tekken: you have moves that include diagonals and often you cannot do them; the timing to press 2 buttons at the same time is very, very difficult to get and it seems more often than not that it is just luck.The second issue is related to on-line tournaments: you can register for a tournament only if you were able to perform 10 move combinations, and guess what? These combinations include diagonales… So far I was not able to compete against others and this is saaaad…
Good old PSP game days, coming back to me some time in the future whenever I can afford a new 1 again…Customization was the best part of this game, along with bowling. But the customization was the best. I turned Marduk into Mr. T Banana Man…just make sure you put him in all yellow, give him a mohawk & bananas & you have yourself a Mr. T Banana Man. I wish they had this in the PS3 download before I bought it…
IVE BEEN A FAN OF TEKKEN everysince the ARCADE versionbut over the years my selection of characters have changed with every new tekken game.1. GRAPHICS – I love the graphics in TEKKEN5:dr , they’re soo nice tolook at.2. CONTROLS – The contol scheme is very fluid with each button being pressed and its easy to link up your combos3. Minigames- the mini games give u break from all the fighting and they’re just as challengin and fun.OVERALLI give TEKKEN5: DR a 10/10 and now I just have to sit back and wait til FINAL FANTASY DISSIDIA and TEKKEN 6 come out!!
Tekken Dark Resurrection is the first game since the debut of the PSP to “wow” me. It has unbelievably crisp graphics, in fact it looks almost as nice as Tekken 5 for PS2 on a similar sized display. The sound effects are also along the lines of part 5, where they were given a little extra depth. The music is also phenominal, and really shines on a decent set of earphones. There are a slew of game modes, in addition to bonus games (Tekken Bowl is back!), and a really fun customization system, where you can alter players colors and add lots of unusual accessories. Most importantly, the gameplay is as precise as ever, although it will take a few rounds to adjust to the PSPs slightly more cramped controller.This is not only the best looking PSP game thus far, but also the very best fighter ever released for a portable system by a wide margin. If you own a PSP, this game is essential to your collection.
Although i’m not a huge “gamer” this game is extremely addicting. If you just want to kick some booty, this is a great game to do so with.

It’s hard to believe that more than a decade has passed since Tekken premiered in the arcades. It’s even harder to believe that we have a portable Tekken game on the Playstation Portable that we can play on the go but we do. While I’ll admit that my interest wained after Tekken 3(even though I’ve played them all), my interest and fever for the series is back in full force with this installment.Except for the Devil Within & Arcade History modes, everything from Tekken 5 made it over to the PSP. Several things were improved upon, like the character customization mode as well as the adding of two new characters. Mini-games like Gold rush, Tekken Bowling and Dojo Mode are extremely cool. Tekken: Dark Resurrection will surely be the game all other PSP fighters will be judged by from now on.One thing that Tekken: Dark Resurrection proves, most of all, is that great console fighters can be brought to the PSP with no problems. That’s really promising for fans of such technical fighters such as Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive. Their dreams of portable versions of these classics could actually come true if developers were inclined to do so. Personally; I’d love to see portable versions of my favorite console fighters myself (like Street Fighter EX, Project Justice, Bloody Roar, Naruto, and Super Dragonball Z).In conclusion, if you’re looking for a tremendous 3-D fighter that can show what the Playstation Portable is capable of graphically and otherwise, look no further t.
