While I credit Konami for producing different games on the two competing system of the early 90’s (Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, respectively), this is the weakest "split release" between the two systems. Unlike Castlevania Bloodlines vs Super Castlevania IV and Contra Hard Corps. vs Contra III The Alien Wars, Hyperstone Heist doesn’t differ enough from Turtles in Time.It is true that Hyperstone Heist is one of the better Sega Genesis games. Visually, it looks great. The colors on the Turtles are very bright and visually appealing. The sound obviously is grainier than the smooth Turtles In Time soundtrack, but the biggest noticeable difference is that the Turtles can’t throw foot soldiers toward the screen. This is a difference worth noting since the player gets 3 points for pulling this move off in Turtles in Time. However, the repeated slam move can still be pulled off, but it only yields 2 points even if it takes out other enemies. Other than that, the control is executed well. The intro/story and several of the bosses are still very much the same. The most disappointing is the Super Shredder boss at the end of the game, which really should have been a different fight. I think Tatsu is the only new boss, and Rocksteady and human Baxter Stockman are recycled from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game. The end screen when you beat the game, is also the same…and if I’m not mistaken, that is Sega Genesis’ rendition of Pizza Power, which doesn’t soun.
There is so much to say about this game but the reviewers above have pretty much said what the game play is about. I would like people not to compare turtles in time to hyperstone heist. I have played both games numerous times they are totally different yet extremely fun. Also you must note Hyperstone Heist came first. So it makes sense why the second one turtles in time made great improvements on little game play ideas. If you look close to both from playing Hypertone Heist Turtles in Time is just a improved version of Hyperstone Heist. There is no game like Turtles in Time in style and gameplay improvements. Turtles in Time didn’t fall out of the sky it came from Hyperstone Heist. In the end you got two great games totally different but much improved. I have played no TNMT title since to give me the excitement of these two Genres.
TMNT The Hyperstone Heist is a VERY underrated TMNT game. I’ve noticed many people have this misconception that it is a Turtles in Time rip off, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. How can it be a rip off if both games are made from the SAME COMPANY??? The perfect summarization of Hyperstone Heist is that it is a remixed and combined AMALGAMATION of both the 1989 arcade game and Turtles In Time, while having some new/exclusive content put in, wrapped around a new storyline. In TMNT The Hyperstone Heist Shredder has stolen the Hyperstones from Dimension X and has used them to shrink and steal Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. From there the turtles are up and running to stop Shredder and get Manhattan and Lady Liberty back. There have been complaints that the game is shorter then Turtles In Time, but that again is false. Yes while HH comprised of 5 levels (compared to 10 in T.I.T) the levels in HH are much longer. 4 of the 5 levels consist of 3 sections each while level 4 is a gauntlet stage (a long boss rush) where you must defeat the previously defeated bosses’ again. In actuality both HH and T.I.T take just about the same amount of time to complete. The graphics, while not as bright and colorful as T.I.T, are still very good and the turtles (and every other character in the game) have more detail and frames of animation resulting in them looking better and smoother then Turtles In Time. Now on to the bosses, which is 1 of my only 2 negatives with HH. The bosses co.
I bough a game from this shop and he e-mailed me personally and told me that he upgraded the shipping for free because of the distance between us (Missouri-Organ.) So far really like this shop and would encourage others to buy from him also. Thanks again for the great service.
this game maybe the best turtles in time game but for what ever reason genesis got this game hyper stone heist and snes got turtles in time both games are made by konami so i have no clue why there different but in some ways there the same in hyper stone heist there are five levels each one except level 4 have three parts. part of level part 2 in h.s.h is the intire second level in t.i.t level 2 part 2 h.s.h is level 6in t.i.t but the design isnt exactly the same. level 4 h.s.h is half of level 5 t.i.t minus the dinosaurs. level five h.s.h is part of level 4 and most of level 9 from t.i.t. level 2 part 1 h.s.h is level 3 t.i.t. the bosses are different except shredder and leatherhead. you fight baxter but in h.s.h hes human with a mouser machine, in t.i.t hes a fly. h.s.h is the only turtle game that has tatsu in it wich is strange since hes from the first and second turtle movie i recomend this game highly if you have a genesis pick it
I was one of those Nintendo fans who wouldn’t have anything to do with anything Sega all those years back, but those days are behind me and thanks to emulation these days on PC I’m finding so many cool games I never knew existed from the days of yesteryear. This is pretty much another version of Turtles in Time found on the Arcade and SNES. A sequel to the original TMNT ARCADE smash hit. It’s very much like Turtles In Time, but its no way the same game. starting off in this one in a sewer and taking on the foot, aliens and mousers till you reach Leather Head who has the stupid most lamest subtitles I’ve ever seen, in fact, all the boss’ do.You get through him and go surfing on hover boards to a badly named Ghost Ship, there is no ghostly activity of any kind but a few hundred more foot & rock soldiers. and then so on and so on…The lame thing about the game is the dialog of the boss’, but more importantly the reason I suspect this game wasn’t as popular, is the fact that its pretty damn hard. You get about 5 lives, and you go through them pretty damn quick. I suppose with some practice you could master it, but the good thing about emulators is they come with the game genie built in, so after I turned on an infinite life code, I cruised through the game to see what else it had in store. The boss’ are Leather Head, Rock steady, Baxter Stockman, Krang and the Shredder, and the most notable boss I found was Tatsu! The Foot Clans #2 man from the movie actually made it to the game!.
Received in a timely fashion, this is a great game hasn’t left my genesis since I got it. I would say this game is a must have for any genesis owner who wants to play a hidden gem of a game!
