Suspense at it’s best. Saw this as a kid and it enthralled me much in the same way Red Dawn did. Watched it again today at the age of 47; still blown away (pun not intended). Should be required viewing for students, military, and anyone holding any office.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Despite its age, it is still super great to watch. The old computers used in the movie definitely brings nostalgia to anyone who has used or has an interest in old computers. I love the lesson to be learned in this movie, that the only way to win a nuclear war is to not play the game.
I enjoyed this movie a lot other than the few times God is used as a curse word. I watched this movie several times when I was younger and wanted to see it again. This movie shows what could happen if computers or robots ever took over the decision making from humans. It makes me wonder how accurate some of this movie really was. This movie was worth renting even though I saw it many times long ago.
If you keep in mind that this movie was made in the early 80’s, you’ll find it clever and enjoyable. Matthew Broderick is quite young in this role, and he pulls off the geeky tech nerd quite well. It’s really entertaining to see the throwback hacker technology and green screen PCs and 5" floppy disks. I keep hearing we are due for a remake, but I think I’d be kind of sad.How about a nice game of chess?
A great movie for a great price!
I haven’t seen this movie in ages. Noticing it was available to stream the Prime, I watched it all the way through. I was amazed at how relevant the message is, today: don’t remove the humans the from the loop. I’d put it this way, what do you prefer, a human driven car hitting you in traffic or an ai driven car hitting you in traffic? Broderick, Sheedy, Coleman, John Wood, and Barry Corbin are all great and well cast. The movie is also an enjoyable look into “high tech” of the 80s for younger folks who might have had toys with more powerful tech than what was available to the government, at that time.
Mathew Broderick stars in this long before Ferris Buehler’s Day Off. It’s a great movie that could really take place in time now too.
Left the computer on saying “Would you like to play Thermonuclear War”
Arrived as described and expected.
Classic movie , fun , cold war theme.
