I recently purchased a 3DS, and picked up Resident Evil Revelations as well. The first major point to make about this game, is how amazing the visuals are. Regardless of whether you utilize the 3D effects or not, this is one amazing looking game. The gameplay is also solid, reminiscent in execution to that of Resident Evil 4, while keeping some of the more intense atmosphere of the original games. Things never get too stale as you do a bit of globe trotting as multiple different characters, so you never become bogged down by the intensity of the fight for survival on the cruise ship (the main setting within the game). Some reviews from sites like G4tv.com have complained about the controls, in one capacity or another. This is a bit nitpicky. I found the controls to be solid, even without the addition of the Circle Pad Pro. The controls are exactly what fans of the franchise will expect: similar to that of the 4th and 5th installments in the franchise. Often times in Revelations, I found it much easier to hit my intended target than in previous Resident Evil games. This game also has tremendous replay value. Their are multiple difficulties to test your sanity on, and the Raid mode adds hours upon hours of gameplay. Playing online in Raid mode, or alone, is intense and fun. Working with another player is awesome, although sometimes you can become separated easily (doors don’t stay open for long) but working as a team adds to the experience. The multiplayer even adds to the single.
This is an addictive game, to be sure. A lot of my work-related stuff did not get done because I was preoccupied with this game leveling up. Generally, I don’t care for “scary” games, but this has a good balance between action and drama. However, the story is not something I was particularly interested in following because the lengthy cut scenes delayed my continued exploration of the ship. The game is also an effective shooter since you have such a wide range of weapons and ordnance. There are also a few different challenges more than just playing the campaign that make the game well re-playable. Pretty good stuff.Let me say, though, that the monsters sometime fall straight onto you from the ceiling and you can’t see them at all, which is somehat unfair. If you can memorize when it happens, you can avoid it. Still it’s frustrating rather than fun.
This is my favorite RE since Code Veronica back in the day. Its still much more action driven than back in day but I like it. I also own this on the PC in HD and found it to be a terrible port. The fun just wasn’t in it. When you play it on the 3DS you can tell it was made for a handheld. You wont be disappointed in this one!
Resident Evil Revelations is a wonderful addition to the series. For any fan of the series or someone looking for a strong game for their 3DS, this is for you. The presentation is incredible, the quality is as visually pleasing. Voice acting is pretty solid, which whoever remebers comes a LONG way from the first game in the series. You progress through the well laid story, in a episodic fashion, from multiple points of view. It’s good for newcomers because you don’t necessarily need to know the backround of each person, since they just say “like Raccoon City” a few times. The controls are very responsive, and going into first person view when aiming is a welcome change. The ablility to strafe around the corner is another great addition to the control scheme. Both aformentioned changes are new to this game in the series so far. If you’re a fan of a game that will make you jump, this will do it. If you’re not, you probably wouldn’t like any of the Resident Evil games anyway. I highly recommend this game, as a long time fan of the series, and a gamer who loves a game with a compelling story and presentation.
Got this to play with the circle pad pro peripheral for the 3DS XL and I wasn’t disappointed. Great gameplay, storyline and 3D graphics. I’ve played the RE series, since the original, and I have to say that besides the first one, this is my favorite. Tons of replay value with the different modes and characters. Unfortunately, I heard that the sequel will not be ported to the 3DS which is a shame. Highly recommend this game. It’s one of the best I’ve played for the 3DS.
Good game I love the graphic you can also adjust the 3d dept making it more intense, the controllers feel the same as any other resident evil but im still getting use to them about 2 hours in to the game, all I can say is that its one of the best games out there for 3ds, I was getting bored just playing puzzle games this is just what I need it to pass the time since it has good exploration dept.
This is my first 3DS game and the best choice I Ever made, Resident Evil did a wonderful job on it and I’m joying this storyline but mmmaaaannn the gameplay is wicked :) I love this purchace and the game, scares and keeping your hands active, not much use of the touch screen but this game has use for it but man is this a great game!
I used to watch my uncle play resident evil games when I was a little kid and I didn’t even know they had games for the 3ds so I was very excited when i found this. I personally found the game to be really fun. I’m not very good at video games at all I’m a casual gamer so I found this challenging but i was able to finish the entire game which was so exciting for me. The story element in the game was great it was really enjoyable and interesting.
I really dig the scarcity of resources. You learn to savor every bullet you find. The Genesis scanner is a nice touch, too. I use it constantly to tease out hidden items. Weapon upgrades are another feature that adds depth to the game.I have found the controls pretty easy to use. There are definitely times in the heat of a fight that I wish I could maneuver more responsively because there will be an enemy standing on my head and I can’t see it.Overall, this game is very enjoyable and pretty scary. Highly recommended.
I haven’t been this addicted to a game since I was a teenager.WOW3-D has me hooked all over again…I can remember the FIRST Resident Evil and how awesome it was and scary and addicting for the original Playstation…If you are a fan, you will probably love this game.I only ever played Resident Evil 1 and 2. I can follow it just fine.
