If you have played through Pokemon Sun or Moon already then the ‘Ultra’ versions are not going to be adding too much for you. It’s basically the same game as those versions with a few minor tweaks to the story regarding a new ‘Legendary Pokemon’ or ‘Ultra Beast’. Really the game doesn’t change much at all till after you’ve beaten the Elite Four and go into post game. Still it does streamline the game a bit, but adds some minor annoyances too. Really wouldn’t recommend spending the money on it though if you’ve already got Sun or Moon, but if you haven’t picked up either of those then go ahead and get the ‘Ultra’ version.

SO GOOD! So much more to do than Pokemon Moon or Pokemon Sun. Great expansion of storyline. I was kinda on the fence because I wasn’t sure how much more they would include, but it was just awesome.
Didn’t know this was just a re-hash of the most recent games when I got it. The "extra content" is basically just like a DLC pack. I just bought it without checking anything so that’s definitely on me. Still, isn’t it a bit soon for a remake? It’s still my favorite in the series so far, so I won’t mind playing it, but I’m not looking forward to it as much as I would if it were a true sequel.
I actually bought this as a gift for my girlfriend–and it was completely worth it. She loves it even more than the original Sun and Moon–which I would later find out that I did too! (Sadly my copy wasn’t from retrolio, but oh well.) One of the best games in the Pokemon series. So says I and so says my lovely girlfriend who hands my keister to me in battles on Ultra Moon.
I’ve not yet finished this iteration of Pokemon, but so far it’s been a mostly neat new experience. At times it doesn’t quite feel as exactly the Pokemon games of old, but if they take these new experiences and refine them when they get to a Switch version then I believe it could be something grand on a platform that could support many more possibility then the now aging Dual Screen systems.
Excellent game! I like it better than the first ones. It arrived a day late probably the driver. At least they said they were sorry and that it was running late.
I originally played all the Pokémon games since Yellow version and gradually the series have improved in both story and graphics. Unlike Pokemon Moon, Ultramoon has a plot twist in the story and more things to do at the end. I know every player wants some legendaries in the past games so you can catch them here! This is the last Pokemon game on the 3DS and can’t wait for the Switch version!
Looking back to where pokemon games started, it is truly incredible that we’re here now
