I got this for my 11 year old daughter and she’s been playing it for two days! I tried my hand at it, and my Pokemon ended up looking like a cat! lol. She is much better at it at me. I’m not sure how far the levels go, for now she is on the more basic ones I think. It makes them feel good, especially when a drawing of an artistically deficient character renders your child”s picture a masterpiece! My daughter loves that part of this game a lot.
my kid loves making his own drawing of pokemons with this game.
I bought it for myself and ended up giving it to my niece. She loves pokemon. The gameplay, if I should call it that, is very thorough and gives tips when it comes to drawing your favorite pokemon.
Game in perfect condition. Didn’t come with box or manual.
So this is my first entry into the Art Academy series and I’ll be honest in saying that I would never have bought one of these games before this entry. I picked this up because I love Pokemon and I really enjoy having games that I can unwind and relax with. I got this game on release and I can’t put it down.I would definitely consider myself a beginner as an artist. My only experience comes from drawing Disney characters at Hollywood Studios in Disney World. In those lessons an animator teaches guests to draw a simple sketch of different Disney characters. This game goes MUCH more in depth. The lessons in the game are very well taught in my opinion and help you every step of the way in the beginning. But like all things in life you eventually have to learn to do things on your own. After a few lessons the game does start to become more advanced and no longer bothers helping you by showing you how to do things taught earlier on. I personally only think this is a problem if you are a beginner and only do the main lessons and move on. The mini lessons are to help practice and reinforce things taught in the main lesson.I’m currently playing this game on my regular sized 3DS and while I see where an XL would be very efficient, I’ve had no problems with my 3DS. The zooming in really helps when getting those details down.I have yet to try drawing in Free Paint mode but I will soon to see how I do solo. Posting your art to Miiverse is nice and looking at others’ drawings and comparin.
Even better than past Art Academy titles, the new and improve features in this version should be standard on the next incarnations.
Pros:-A lot re-playability, Lessons can be taken as many times as you’d like-Different modes to practice/draw in-Lots of different Pokemon to draw!Cons:-May be difficult for anyone who’s unfamiliar with drawing-Although you can complete drawings at your own pace, the game itself doesn’t go into too much details about perspective, shading, shapes, etc, making it additionally difficult for anyone who’s not familiar with drawing-Helps if you have a 3DS XL. The 3DS screen was way too small for me personally. You can zoom in the canvas, though.Overall, I recommend this game to any Pokemon fan/artist. I draw for fun and didn’t for awhile until I picked this game up. It’s oddly therapeutic, but fun to do. I’ve spent many hours drawing already :)
My daughter wants to draw Pokemon, and she’s tickled that this game shows her how. I was a little disappointed that it relies so much on tracing but this can still be useful as a learning tool and free hand options are also available in the game. She was pleased that the game ties in with Art Academy Lessons for Everyone. You are paired with a virtual drawing partner that isn’t quite up to your level, but still likes to compare their work with yours and helps boost your confidence. My daughter loves the music and seeing her work turned into her own virtual Pokemon card.
A surprisingly effective piece of software. I’ve been doodling a lot lately, trying to improve my drawing, and this game breaks down drawing Pokemon into steps you can not only use on paper, but for other drawings. I am strongly considering picking up other games in this series.
I purchased this for my son , an animation student. He absolutely loved it. The shading, and getting the proportions right really helped improve his freehand drawing. Getting to unlock different charactors and raising the level of difficulty made it more appealing.
