Just like everyone else I awaited the arrival of this amazing masterpiece I have been Playing metal slug for years and had to emulate them or go to arcades or play bad xboxs ports and been in true video game love. and not being fortuanate enough to pick up a wii i had to await this release which was continually pushed back and ps2 still not released but that aside this was well worth the wait Metal Slug 6 never released in the U.S (ralph owns) the amazing 2d graphics Countless hours of nazi,Alien,Sasquatch,Mayan,Mummy and machine Blasting action and all portable to boot the only slight problem is a little bit of lag when you first boot up a game and the long load times but in the end a true masterpiece that cant be matched still END OF STORY
You have yet to ship this game so I have no way of providing a review. So much for a Christmas present that was ordered on Nov. 20th.
I love this game! This one has them all. I’m glad to own a physical copy of this classic.

This is the definitive collection of Metal Slug games, and it is a weird, wonderful journey indeed. From aliens to mummies, enemy soldiers to aquatic beasties, this anthology of unlikely adventures has you battling through some of the very finest games from the golden age of the arcades. All the titles are in the lovingly designed, hand drawn art (2D pixels), that the team at SNK infused with boundless personality and FUN.As far as I can tell, each of the games in this collection are arcade perfect ports, and they perform flawlessly. Each game supports 2 player co-op, drop-in/drop out co-op, perfect for a little mindless, laughter-inducing entertainment. It takes about 45 minutes to play through each title from start to finish, which is quite lengthy for an arcade run-and-gun title, and particularly when you take into account the remarkable diversity that each game contains.The Metal Slugs remain among the very best games from their genre and generation, and they stand as pillars of inventiveness and humor for design. This anthology is an outstanding value at any price, and I only wish it was made available on more consoles.

With 6 different arcade cabinets, a GBA release, two Neo*Geo Pocket games, a Nintendo DS game, and two PSP games (this is one of them, of course), it’s safe to say that this is a well established franchise. There’s a story in there, involving megalomaniacs, soldiers, aliens, aliens attacking other aliens, prisoners of war, and tanks. But it’s all pointless. All you need to know is this: Your enemy stands before you (and behind, above, and even below)! Destroy them! G.I.JOE says that knowing is half the battle. Well, the other half is violence, and that’s what this game focuses on!I say game, but it’s a compilation of seven (that’s right, 7) Metal Slug games. You get one through six, and the remake of Metal Slug 2, AKA: Metal Slug X. All have great responsive controls, all make you wish that your thumb could mash the shoot button faster, all make you giggle with glee as you blow up enemies, fight aliens, and get fat from picking up too many extra point items. It’s like Contra, but with a sense of humor.It’s great to pick up and play. Although initial load times are kind of long, once you’re actually in the game, it doesn’t take too long. In fact, I welcomed the load times, because I could give my hand a rest. Sure, I could use aut-fire, but wheres the challenge in that?Bottom line is this: This.
If you purchase this game via the PSN store there is nearly zero load time waiting, I don’t think I’ve ran in to a single loading screen that lasted more than 5 seconds. Avoid the slow UMD version (plus you could then put this on your PS Vita to)All of these metal slug games in this collection are uncensored they are NOT the bad US censoring “bleed white, missing some death animation” copies. Not only that but you can unlock content for your PSP and PS3 such as background themes.highly recommend the download to any Metal slug fan with a PSP.
When I first heard about Metal Slug Anthology it was being released for the PS2 and I was a little excited but when I read the reviews for the PSP I was exctatic. This game (or games) was made for the handheld universe. It’s pickup and play friendly, you can save anywhere in the game and you can set the game to give you unlimited continues. If you’ve never played a Metal Slug game just think Contra with its graphics and sound on steriods. The gameplay varries enough from sequel to sequel so you don’t get that “didn’t I play this level in the last game” feeling. On the downside some of the games (mainly Metal Slug 2) suffer from slowdown problems but these were simply inherited from it’s arcade machine big brother (Metal Slug X is really just Metal Slug 2, with the slowdown fixed). The only other issue is load times, something that seems to plauge every PSP title.
