When Metal Gear first came to the PSP with Metal Gear Acid, the result was widely mixed. Metal Gear fans waited for a true game worthy of the Metal Gear name on the PSP. Now we’ve got it. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. Which is everything a handheld Metal Gear game should be and more. There are few PSP games out there as good as this.Six years after the events of Snake Eater, the U.S. government has secured half of the Philosophers legacy. The other half, however, is still out there somewhere. The FOX unit believes that Snake knows the whereabouts of the other half, and so they capture him. There’s a lot of gold here. The story is everything you expect from a Metal Gear game. Deep. Enduring, and full of plot twists and conversations that will blow your mind. Portable Ops, like other MGS games, is a very memorable story that will beg for you to play through the game again. The game has a breathtaking look to it. It looks almost exactly like the MGS games on the PS2. There aren’t that many PSP games out there that look this good. It is a great looking game, that doesn’t falter too much when running. It’s also a great sounding game too. Technologically, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops is a huge advancement in portable gaming. The story isn’t told by traditional means, though. Normally, a Metal Gear Solid game is told through fantastic cutscenes with great voice acting. Portable Ops isn’t able to present this entirely. Instead you’ve got still-life cutscenes simi.
This is a good game for a portable system. But if you are follow the mgs story line, you must play this!!
Well I bought the game close to a month ago and so far haven’t beaten it. Its not that its not fun because it is, its just hard. If you are thinking of buying this game do it. Its a lot of fun, however you should try to get a strategy guide for it.
I’m not really going to describe the game itself as you can find that on GameFaqs or IGN, but the product was sealed and no scratches to speak of. Game runs great! Thanks.
Probably the most underrated Metal Gear game….well next to Metal Gear Solid 2. IMO So much better than Peace Walker. If you enjoyed the stealth gameplay from MGS3 THEN YOU’LL LOVE THIS! Interesting characters to recruit to your cause (in game bosses, famous metal gear characters, etc) , good boss fights…well at least imo better than the ones in Peace Walker. The story is good but I admit it’s not necessary to play this game to understand the series. However if you’re interested in how Big Boss got the idea for Outer Heaven and how Foxhound was formed than get this game! It’s a fun play!
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops is one of the top games for the psp, and there is a good reason for that. Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops has basically the same gameplay as Metal Gear Solid 2, but in a portable sense. You can control a league of somewhere around 300 soldiers with sneaking units, spy units that provide better map details, and medical and technical units that increase the equipment selection available to your teams. The storyline continues from Snake Eater, and gives you a good idea of the events leading up to Outer Heaven and Metal Gear Rex. If you like Metal Gear, then you’ll like this game.
The game follows Metal Gear Snake Eater, and it it gives you back story of big boss (aka naked snake). The game incorporates a feature which allows you to recruit enemy soldiers after they have been interrogated by your team to help you along your mission(s). With the enemy soldiers you can put together multiple sneaking units to do the missions, spy units to uncover more details of the map, a medical unit to research life recovery and stamina recovery supplies, and a tech unit to research and develop new weapons for your convenience.Metal Gear Portable Ops’ camera is hard to get use to at first, but it can be controlled and adjusted with the D-pad. The Boss battles in the game aren’t too complex, but they pose quite a challenge for the player. Overall the game has a great story, good strategic game play, new interesting characters, and awesome graphic novel (comic style) cut scenes with audio over it. The cut scenes aren’t nearly as long as an average MGS cut scene on any other of the games in the series, but the length is necessary because they all get straight to the point. Overall, the game is an excellent game for MGS fans, or for anyone that likes stealth mission based games.
This games controls were difficult to set up for me at first, but I am a huge metal gear fan and I enjoy this game. Can’t wait for phantom pain.Controls TIPS: it helps if you have stalking set to toggle when you push the button! I chose config B because it’s closer to that of peacewalker.
This was bought as a gift for my husband and he seems to really like it!!
Vary good game!
