Mega Man 2 was a game that came at the right time, with all the right things. The game set the platform for all future Mega Man games to follow. Simple things such as letting the player decide which route they wish to take through the game. Having a simple functioning easy to use password to save your progress. Being able to continue right outside the stage boss gate unlike Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden where you had to start from the middle of a stage instead of right at the level boss. Along with the idea of subtanks to refill your life and help you overcome difficult sections of the game was a great idea. Those are just 4 examples of game improvements, but they went a long way in making this a great game. Of course what would Mega Man be without the ability to acquire all the boss weapons and use them to your advantage through the game and against the other bosses! At the time following Atari most Nintendo games were games you had to play straight through with no password battery backup or save feature. You had to beat an entire game in one sitting, whether that took you 20 minutes or 2 hours. So right off the bat the replay value for the Mega Man series was off the charts all thanks to the layout and design of Mega Man 2. That is not to mention the awesome rock music that kept the atmosphere exciting and fun.The box cover art looked kind of dull until Mega Man 3 came out we didn’t get the true essence of the look of the Blue Bomber and all his glory. The first gam.
Worked perfectly fine! My friend who I gave it to reported no problems

One of the Greatest Classic sidescrollers of the 8-bit era. You can’t go wrong with Mega Man 2
While the first Mega Man adventure is a classic in every way, it was still a concept game and was very hard due to the lack of energy tanks and so forth. Mega Man 2, however, proved to be the true beginning for the blue bomber. In this game you get energy tanks and the “Item” weapons, which were very similar to Rush. I love how this game connected with the first one, and it’s a shame that the games stopped connecting with each other after Mega Man 4. The music and sounds are more fine-tuned here and this game is much easier. I heartily recommend this one to the first-time player of the series. The original is good but it’s very hard (see my review for that one). If you find it somewhere, GET IT. You won’t regret it.
I played this game a long time when I was in elementary school! And I’am sure that my nephews would love it to!Thanks!Dee Smalls!Decatur GA!
I don’t know how one who has never experienced this game in childhood will react. If you’re one of the lucky folk who played this in the past and are succumbing to a nostalgic rerun, then what are you waiting for? If you’re just getting into Mega Man or some aging 80’s kid told you how great this game is, then yep, go for it. You may not get that warm and fuzzy feeling that nostalgia brings, but you will still get a great gaming experience.I go way back with this game. When I was a little kid, say maybe six or seven, I ran from the video store like a screaming banshee and put this one in the old grey box right away. Few games have ever put such a lasting impression on me. The music, the story, the atmosphere, the way you could pick up at any of eight stages just blew my mind. I hummed the tunes in my head, I died continuously (thanks Quckman and Heatman), and I just fell in love with it.The controls are still very tight, the music and colorful graphics are still just as charming as ever, and like most games in the orginal and X series, it’s just a solid experience from beginning to end. The game has nonstop action, and the rock-paper-scissors boss mechanic ensures that it will never be the same twice. The order you pick is everything. You will beat the game, and then you will beat it up again and again, finding ways to improve each time. Many Mega-fans argue that 2 is one of the easiest of the series, and I will agree. Still, it’s a Mega Man game, and I’ve heared.
