My kids love this game.
I have played Bust-a-Move in the arcades and it is even better on the 3DS!
Do you like Bust-A-Move?? YES!Do you want a fresh spin on the boost items? YES!Do you want SUPER CUTESTY LIL DRAGONS THAT EXPLODE BUBBLES?!?!?!?! YES!!Then this is the game for you my friend. I got this as a gift from a friend and I absolutely love it, it’s just as addictive as the first iteration and it does not disappoint. The only thing that’s bad about it is the repetitive Bosses but even that is spiced up after you get through the first 3!
When the Nintendo 3DS made its debut in the spring of 2011, Bust-A-Move Universe was one of the first titles to be released in the U.S. The graphics and the background have much improved, but I can’t say the same for the musical soundtrack. Also, the gameplay modes are a bit more limited to just Puzzle Mode and Challenge Mode. Those are the minor complaints that prevent me from giving this game 5 stars. However, I do appreciate how the 3D effect causes the graphics to POP.In Puzzle Mode, you will have to traverse through several worlds in order to rescue your fellow friends by unlocking keys. If you manage to get all of the keys, you will receive a rapid-spin power-up to help you defeat each boss (just hold down the A button to throw bombs until the boss is finally eliminated). As usual, the object of the game is to eliminate 3 of the same colored bubbles. One of the additions to the Bust-A-Move series is a Special Gauge (seen on the right side of the screen). When it fills up to Level 1, you can press the X button to use a Spark Bubble (this will change the bubble color), Wild Bubble at Level 2 (it can be treated as ANY colored bubble), or Laser Bubble at Level 3 (this is the best power-up; it lets you virtually eliminate an entire left or right side of bubbles!). I prefer to wait until Level 3 to use the Laser Bubble because it’s the most effective.Challenge Mode lets you burst bubbles within a 100-sec or 300-sec time limit. You will put to use some Gimmick Bubbles,.
I originally purchased this game around the holidays for $5 as a title I thought I would probably open up at some point when I was bored, just to play for a day or so and then probably sell. What initially was a title I was less than excited about, turned out to be a very addictive and fun game that I have played for about 15 hours now.I played through the Puzzle Mode first and beat that in about 2.5 hours. I then moved on to the Challenge Mode and played a continuous game of non-stop bubbles that lasted about 8 hours before the difficulty level reached a point where I couldn’t proceed. At that point I had unlocked a good portion of the awards available in the game. I then proceeded to try and collect the remaining awards I was missing, ending up at this point with only 3 awards left that I’m not making much progress in achieving.I really liked the colors and 3-D graphics in this game. I think the developers did a really good job in creating this game, making it attractive, intuitive and fun. I liked the music and also enjoyed the colorful pictures of Bob that pop out of the screen when you accomplish something special. I may be alone in this, but I also really enjoyed the dotted path for the bubbles that was present throughout most of the game. I played a few levels without it and found that I wasn’t having as much fun that way.As far as things I didn’t like?…I guess the non-stop bubbles mode didn’t seem like it ramped up in difficulty fast enough. I was literally shocked.
This game is just what I expected. I have had hours of fun with it.Stays in line with all the other bust a move type games.Would of been nice to have online features though or verses modes. All in all very good game and hey NO GLASSES needed for the 3D.
This game is challenging and a lot of fun. I feel it is the best Bust-A-Move game ever produced, and it is one I will never get tired of playing.
I think the other reviewers have covered the topic pretty well, except I’ve found the controls to be difficult to use. The circle pad and D-pad are not sensitive enough (or too sensitive) for precise aiming in the game. I often have to turn back and forth several times before firing a shot. Maybe my 3ds is defective? It doesn’t seem to be on other games, though. Anyways… overall it’s a fun little game with nice 3D.
Good game. Arrived without any damage.
Perfect!
