This isn’t your classic battleship game you played years ago, it’s been updated, but for the best? In my mind “noâ€. They’ve added planes, but that just adds 3 more shots to win & they’re not even the same planes, ones a bomber & ones a fighter jet, they both have 3 holes, but isn’t the battle about sinking each other’s armada? Plus,1 of the planes is too tall to shut the top when set up, so no stopping a game in the midst & shut the lid. Isn’t the deal to have the same ships? If we have the same ships shouldn’t we have the same planes? Who ever sunk a plane by dropping a bomb? Ok, I know what your thinking, man, this guy sure is making a lot out of a nothing, but I grew up sinking my opponents likewise military. If you feel like me, get the classic battleship game or don’t add the planes when playing. Now on to something that DOES matter..they made the “hit/miss†pegs bigger at the top to hold on to, having dexterity problems I thought this would be a plus, but once you dump them all out into the handy “take anywhere traysâ€, you’ll find they don’t all fit if you want to close the lid, so you have to leave some in the box. If you don’t take the box with you, the way it’s designed you take the chance of running out, we personally never have run out during a game, but after losing some, this may be a problem.I would suggest anyone who played the Classic Battleship game & want to relive those days or show the kids how it was in “the good old daysâ€, get the classic game, if you jus.
My students love this game now that they know how to play it. It is a shame that the younger generations don’t know how to play board games. They spend way to much time attached to technology. In my class they have the opportunity to play board games as our school has a no cell phone policy that I enforce in my class room.
Game is just as good as it ever was but I knocked a star for the pieces. First, there are so many pegs and the red and white are just thrown into the same bag, which means you have to sit there and sort them out so that each player gets equal amounts of each. Why couldn’t they have put the white in one bag and the red in another? My kids were losing interest while I was trying to sort them out to start the game. Second, the ships and planes are attached to these plastic pieces and you have to break them out – half were easy enough to snap off but the other half were really hard to remove and I had to break out the scissors (and even then it was ridiculously hard to get one of the planes out of the plastic). Help us out a little here, Hasbro. Parents – I highly recommend doing setup before inviting your kids to the table to play.
The only problem with Battleship is that it seems to be a game for the parents. Kids today are just not into it. Maybe we were brainwashed by commercials in the early 90s?! My kids don’t seem to be able to sit through the game.My husband and I? We have a tournament going…Game quality: it’s perfectly fine. I don’t particularly care for the new planes. They aren’t designed as well as the regular battleships. Otherwise, it’s, you know: a plastic game with plastic pegs. I have no issue keeping pegs on either screen. Works a-ok as far as I’m concerned.
Good quality game. To start, the cases are sturdy and thick enough that I don’t think it’s going to fall apart soon. The size of them makes them almost portable for in-car games. The details inside, from the board to the ships, are nice. It could improve on the grid lettering and numbers, it can be a little hard to read because it blends evenly with the board itself. That might not be a problem for older kids or adults that know which is which, but a younger one can take longer in figuring it out. But I’d say that’s a minor thing. The pieces themselves, the pegs, could definitely fit a little better. As is, they are quite loose with the pieces sitting in the holes rather than fitting in them. The slots to the right for storing the boats don’t, they are to loose. So a little shake will loosen pieces quite easily. That would be my main complaint. I’d still recommend this game though (just don’t shake it too much :)
Love this game. Its one of my favorites. Ive been teaching my grandma how to play and she still gets confused on where to put the pegs. We’re working on it. There is a strategy to this game.Came with all the pieces. You have to apply the stickers on your own and I accidentally ripped one so be careful. Once you stick them down they will rip if you try to take it off.
No issues and came with all the pieces. Played this game at a brewery the other week and it brought back memories of commercials and hours playing this game as a kid. Had to get it.
Great game. Love the extra planes. Yes, they are made with a different materials then the ships but that’s no big deal to me. All the pegs seem to fit fine in the little holes. I don’t see any issue with that. All the little red and white pegs fit in the side container that’s meant to hold them. I put the extra planes in with the ships and it closes fine. I put an extra rubber band around it just to make sure it stays closed. The game case seems sturdy. I don’t foresee any issues. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it!
I’ve been teaching my six-year-old grandson how to play this game it’s so nice to step away from video games and have that one on one interaction and it’s fun to watch them strategize on where to place their ships
My husband and I bought this game for our two girls. They are nine and ten years old. I don’t understand how they did not get the game. Maybe it’s because we grew up playing it? We played the game with them so they could see how to play. I still hear, “I don’t get it” and “What’s the point?”.The adults enjoyed it. Kids? I think they are spoiled by electronics. Oh well! Still worth it! :)
