I’ve played the original Link to the past, and the more i play this, the more i actually felt like playing more of the same, but it’s a GOOD more of the same (if that makes any sense at all.) The puzzles are challenging at times (had to look up a walkthrough for my second playthrough when i get to it) but are rewarding in the end. I like the ability to merge into walls to bypass many obstacles. (Especially in the skull woods dungeon-The wallmasters can’t touch you in the walls, now can they?)All in all, although it may look easy, it is. However, it is this way to give people who haven’t played a Zelda game in their entire life to give it a whirl. The hardcore players might get a nostalgia trip, the casual gamers can get into the pick up and play aspect of it, and the newcomers have a chance to experience what made Zelda such a staple in Nintendo’s history in the first place.I know a lot of other people have been giving this game a hard time, and I think that they’re wasting their time. From their reviews, I feel like they haven’t even played the game. And to them I say this: You can’t make accusations about something that you haven’t experienced. Learn to grow up and stop trolling everything that you think isn’t good enough. That ends my review. Have a nice Day.Kunai
I’ve been attempting to get into the Zelda series since the 80’s when the gold cartridge came out for the NES. I always found the series to be just a bit to complicated with it’s puzzles and story to follow. Nonetheless I tried all of the games through N64 gen before I took a break from the series.Decided to give Link Between Worlds a shot and WOW was I surprised! It manages to be a very deep RPG and yet avoids the pitfalls of being overly complicated.Exploring Hyrul is a blast and the puzzles not only make sense, but are a heck of a lot of fun.If you feel like I do about previous Zelda games and are on the fence about getting this, don’t be. You are in for a fun experience with this one.
I have played many 3DS games that I liked. Luigi’s Mansion and Paper Mario 3DS come to mind. Those games were incredible to the limitations that handhelds present. The problem I had was that the overworld was lacking. I wanted to explore larger worlds and have a bigger game. I was afraid that this Zelda would be much the same. FEAR NOT! The overworld isn’t daunting, but it is quite large for a portable game. It takes me back to the days of Link’s Awakening, but with nice graphics. Don’t get me wrong, this is no PS4, but it’s stellar considering that it is in fact, a handheld. Wonderful game that brings out all kinds of old school 2D Zelda nostalgia!
I love the Legend of Zelda franchise and this is no exception. The problem solving in the dungeons is well done and takes me a while to figure stuff out, forcing me to really think. The maimai subquest is really fun and makes exploration a must for this game. One major downside is unlike the other game, sub items are not found in dungeons and instead are rented or sold by a guy in your house, but this makes rupees even more important in this game than any other and in most Zelda games, I rarely even use rupees.
Until the release of Breath of the Wild, this was my favorite Zelda game. This is WELL above Ocarina of Time [even the 3d version] or Wind Waker (yes, I know, THE HORROR). In terms of handheld entries to this franchise, this is by far the most fun I’ve had playing Zelda. The core mechanic of merging into a 2d space to solve puzzles is worked in really nicely, and it’s used about as far as it can go without overextending its usefulness (which is hard to do with Zelda gimmicks/mechanics).Admittedly, it does pull its map and Light World/Dark World transition from A Link to the Past, but it works much more nicely. I think the ability to switch between worlds at various cracks in the wall (rather than having to go way back to your one warp spot) works better. If you liked Link to the Past, you’ll probably like this game. If you like Zelda and are looking for a challenge, especially in Hero Mode, I’d recommend this over any other Zelda game. Except for Breath of the Wild, of course, that takes the cake. But ignoring that, this is well worth the price and its replayability is much higher than other Zelda games.
This is one of the many games Nintendo has released in the last year that are just stupidly good. Every decision they made seems to work for me. All the little nuances that you might find annoying (like losing your gear on death) give way to means to avoid them (permanently purchasing the item). Each dungeon has a great feel to it both aesthetically and design wise. I can’t really find anything about this game that gave me grief other than it feeling a little light on secrets.Though each time I say that I find a new secret. So maybe they just did a great job of hiding things.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past has always been my favorite Zelda game for many reasons, but A Link Between Worlds takes it to a whole new level like never before. In this world of Hyrule we get to revisit an area we haven’t seen in years and travel to another world similar to the Dark World yet very different. This game may be similar, but there are many things in it that are relative to other Zelda titles such as Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword. Anyways I just cleared my first play through of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and I must say it has the exact same appeal that A Link to the Past has. This game is new, lively, refreshing, and very nostalgic, but very much a breath of fresh air and a great homage to it’s predecessor. I’ve collected everything in the game, viewed the amazing ending, and unlocked Hero Mode for a more challenging difficulty the next play around. For anyone who wants an amazing Legend of Zelda filled with lots of new and old enemies/ puzzles look no further. This game is very well made, graphically beautiful, and all of the music from A Link to the Past is back and better than ever. This is one of the best original titles on the Nintendo 3DS and hopefully we get more like it in the near future!
I read that A Link Between Worlds was a sequel to A Link to the Past, I knew I had to play it.The game is a good game, but it isn’t as great. Bored me sometimes.A Link to the Past was one of my favorite games, the missions or task in a link between worlds and easy/predictable but if you want to relive that childhood you won’t regret buying it.
After all this time, I’ll review it. This is the most clever Zelda game in a long time, and most fun I’ve had with a Zelda game since the Ocarina of Time.A Link Between Worlds crushes the original DS titles, and the titles on GBA as well – taking the cake for best mobile Zelda with ease. The puzzles, are not obvious but not irritating, and leave you satisfied in solving them, you can play the game however order you’d like, everything is readily available from the start – yet still challenging. In summation – get this game.
Played the game myself and loved it, think of it as a hybrid of being a sort of HD remake of Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past combined with also being a sequel, this games biggest difference from the rest is going through the game and buying your equipment instead of dungeon crawling for them, which in turns means you can go through any dungeon in any order so replaying won’t seem boring at all. I bought this as a gift for a friend and he agrees it’s a great game as well.
