This game is beyond fun! The original nine members of the Wu go on a quest to save RZA’s mentor from the hands of a demonic nemesis… each member has a difernt style of martial arts madness: ODB is a drunken boxer (what else), GZA has a mic attached to a chain with a blade (his fatalities are great!) Ghostface is a grappler with Iron gloves, Raekwon is a shadowboxer (fast as hell), Deck uses his fingertips to strike pressure points, Masta Killa is a faceless ninja, RZA has massive swords, U-God has some kind of obnoxious Muy-Thai kick boxing style, and Meth has a gargantuan hammer (with teh world’s easiest 11-hit combo).The characters aren’t so well rounded out. Some easily overpower others. Meth and RZA can win just about any encounter, even if played by a novice. Deck and Raekwon are more finesse characters. There is a nice practice mode where you can slowly learn the individual attacks and combos of each cahracter- using whomever you choose as your punching bag (usually it’s U-God in my home).The fatalities are great and bloody- when they’re not that they’re just plain funny (such as when raekwon tosses his defeated foe into a massive green cauldron and pulls from it a bottle of Wu-Brew). Each character has 4 different fatalities.OK, the story is kinda lame and at times it’s almost impossible to win with certain characters. The graphics aren’t top-notch, even by the standards of the game’s release (’99 I think). And the music/beats get a tad repetitive. So what!?! Just ki.
If your not a fan of Wu-Tang or Hip-Hop/Rap, don’t worry, Wu Tang: Shaolin Style the game is only related to them through their background sounds (only beats, no words except for the menu) and the names and appearance of the characters.Wu Tang: Shaolin Style offers a wide variety of character to choose from in order to fight in up to four person battles. Each character possesses their special weapon and/or fighting style and offers the chance for you to master each of them. The game starts with the master (sensei or renshi or grand-master) of the Wu Tang Clan being abducted by a past enemy, who is essentially jealous of his knowledge and ability, and his students. You must follow and defeat the culprits on one-on-one to one-on-three combat and obtain the secrets of all 35 chambers in order to fight the main enemy and save your master from certain death.A combination of unique maneuvers and hard to master combos makes the game a challenge. The beauty of the 3D environment you play in is that you do not have to worry about the direction you are facing, each maneuver is the same when done in reverse and helps to prevent confusing situation where you don’t know which direction to go in order to perform a certain move. The 35 chambers are difficult to obtain and will not be obtained until you have practiced all of a characters maneuvers, including the most difficult of them, the 10 hit combo.This is an excellent game and I recommend it to anyone who is intrested in hard to ma.

It seems this game is no longer being published. I had to get mine on auction. Pity. A very solidly implemented game with some very good ideas, making it more fun than the average fighting game.Although this is basically a kung fu fighting game, it adds enough to make it more interesting than the rest:1. story mode that has decent lengthed videos that actually tries to tell a coherent story2. freeze-and-spin-Matrix-effect that occurs just before a fatality is pretty cool.3. the gathering of 35 chambers is a neat idea and motivates you to actually try out more combos rather than sticking with the ones that get you a safe kill. It’s kind of like earning your different colored belts in Karate.4. teaming up with multiple comrades during some fight sequences is fun.5. comes with a USEFUL and FUN training mode where it shows you a new move and lets you try the steps until you achieve it. This makes practice mode more engaging.6. instant action mode lets you just fight ala Mortal Kombat style.7. good save game feature that lets you save off the game after EACH fight.8. this could be a pro or con. It has lots of blood, dismemberment, and impalement. Actually it’s video game blood so it isn’t really grotesque.9.
