My family has a fairly extensive Wii Games Library including pretty much all the major market games. We got Wii Party about 1 month ago and my 11 year old daughter and 8 year old son have been enjoying it immensely to say the least. The other games have not got much of a look-in since Wii Party arrived. That there are so many games included, all very wholesome, including many that test cognitive / mental ability in an entertaining way, is a huge plus. Even my wife has been getting into it and she is not much of a gamer! Whilst I have not had the time to take a very close look myself, I feel I am in position to recommend, and do so unreservedly!
We purchased this game hoping that our soon-to-be six year old twins would be able to play along. It would be an understatement if I said Wii Party has been a big hit with the kindergarten crowd in our house. After some initial help learning the controls on the various minigames my kids have really taken to the game. They love “Board Game Island” and ask to play at least twice a week.Is it Mario Party? No, it’s not. It’s fun in a whole different way. My kids love seeing their little Mii’s play in the various minigames, and the rules for the board game are easy for them to comprehend. The adult puzzle game addict that I am, I really enjoy the “Marching Orders” and “About Face” challenge games. They are addictive and tons of fun if you enjoy the “match a bunch of colors to clear a board” sort of “Art Style” games.Overall, it’s been money well spent.
Great family party game. No doubt about it. My only wishes (so far)…1) I like that the minigames aren’t really long, but a bit longer would be nice. Most last between 5 and 20 seconds. 20-40 might be better. Or longer versions of them in a different section would be really cool.2) I also wish you could switch who’s playing without exiting the minigame section. When playing with a group of people we often end up playing with other people’s miis. This isn’t a super big deal, but when you play with the wrong mii, records are kept inaccurately, and it’s hard for spectators to keep track of who’s who. It would also be helpful for the “1 vs 3” games – it would allow participants to take turns being Player “1”.3) I guess the other “mii” games are like this too, but when playing against the CPU, I wish they’d pick a random mii of mine as my opponent, rather than a character they’ve created.4) Some parts have time limits that aren’t really necessary. For example, in the Friend Connection game, participants are asked a series of questions, but are only given 5 seconds to answer each question. This is fine for adults, but not really long enough for young beginning readers.5) And maybe this should be #1… Replays!! Most games end without an instant replay of the action. People love seeing the replays!6) Records (personal bests and overall for the minigame) should be accessible from within the game, while playing. And, why pre-stock the records with phony scores for prete.
I was really getting this one for the kids but I was shocked at how much I play this one with them. The mini-games are awesome and they are not too long. I have a 4 year old, 7 year old, and 10 year old and this game is balanced where even my 4 year old can win some of the mini-games. I like the variety of games too. I didn’t really care for a couple of the mini-games like hiding the wii remote in the room but my 4 year old loves that game so I have to play it. LOL! If you are looking for a fun game for the entire family then this is it. There’s not anything that I would consider to be inappropriate for kids either. Good fun with some nice action to get your blood pumping every now and then. I think this is one of the Wii games that we are going to be playing for a while. We have had it for a couple of months and we are still playing the heck out of this game. I paid a lot more for this game than what the price is now and it was over $25 when I bought it. Get this one today!
The youngest step-grandkids are delighted I have this game & played it immediately. Clearly, they have played this before & consider it a lot of fun. Attention span is about an hour for one child playing & about 2 hours for 2 or 3 children playing. (Would be considerably longer amount of time but due to their young age, I limit their consecutive Wii time as a mandatory break to play outside or with toys or coloring before returning to Wii games).LOVE being able to use the Mii characters (I think every Wii game should have the option to use Mii’s). There are a lot of cute & fun games to amuse & occupy small children. Anyone can play & the older kids will play sometimes to be nice to their younger siblings/cousins. It’s really popular for young kids ages 3 – 6.
I have purchased a lot of wii games that end up being disappointing overall, or only fun for a while and then forgotten… but this game is really great! There are tons of games to choose from, and there’s a good variety for 1-4 players. My girlfriend and I (ages 25 and 30) pretty much only play this game. It’s good for when you just want to spend time together on the couch. You know how some games are great, but then they get to the point where you are just frustrated that you can’t get past a certain level? That doesn’t happen with this game. It’s a bunch of board games and mini games within board games, so it keeps you entertained but doesn’t peeve you off. And you can pick games by their approx. completion time so if you know you only have an hour or half-hour to kill, you know which games you’ll have time for. Overall I’d say the best thing about this game, besides how much fun it is, is that you buy one disk but get so many different games to play. Sometimes it’s hard to choose!Another great thing about Wii Party is it always gives you the option before each game to hear the game rules and see how it’s played. So if you have friends over and you want to play, it’s very easy for first timers to understand and play along.
Awesome game for multiple kids to play together, especially kids with varying skill levels. There are many mini games to choose from in which players are pretty equally matched despite age and experience. My children can play this game for hours – usually laughing hysterically – and no one gets bored or frustrated. An ideal game to turn on when we have guests over since it’s so accessible to all. You can play this game alone, but the fun is really in competing against friends.
I saw many good reviews on this product and decided to try it. No regrets at all. It has A LOT of FUN games in it. In every game, there are some minigames in it where you compete with other players/computer to be the first to roll in the next round. All the minigames can be challenging as you choose a higher level skill. The game also give the approximate time for each game (range from 5-60 minutes) so that you can decided if you want to play a short game or a long one. Overall, the wii party is for those who likes to play a lot of minigames.
I bought this game so i could have a good wii game to play when i have friends over (most of the other games i owned were one player games). I have had it for about a week and so far i have played it with my sister (she’s 20, i’m 17) and i have played it with my parents as well (they’re in their 50s) and it has been such a blast! Every time I have played it, with different people we have had such a great time. The main games are fun, but the mini games are what makes it so great.I did try playing the game by myself once, and it wasn’t quite as fun, but it really is a perfect game to play with a group. I definitely recommend it!
Having played Mario Party games since the 2nd iteration, I grew tired of them after number 4 and then decided to buy Mario Party 8 for the Wii in hopes it would be a great party game I could play with friends and family that showcased Wii Controls. Unfortunately, that game was a complete mess, but where Mario Party 8 went wrong, Wii Party got things right. There are plenty of minigames and most all of them are enjoyable and simple enough to pick up. Then there are the different extended games, Bingo, Around The World, etc., which have play times ranging from 15 minutes to 60 (which they conveniently list for you if you’re looking for a longer or shorter game). All of these are a blast to play with three other people and differentiate from one another enough to make them all fresh experiences, rather than the old days of Mario Party where the board games were all too similar. Another great feature about the game is that say you don’t have 4 people playing but only 2, or 3. Well the game can actually make suggestions for you for what you should play, including several 2 person specific game challenges which are quite enjoyable. If there are any complaints I could make about the game, its that it is too generic. I understand it is the “Wii blank” brand of game so it features Miis but I wish they had included some Nintendo characters. On another note, I do not recommend this game if you are going to play it by yourself, as the real fun comes from playing with friends.Overall grea.
