Viewtiful Joe
Viewtiful Joe is a side scrolling beat ’em up video game develop by Team Viewtiful for the GameCube. It was originally release in 2003 as a part of the Capcom Five, under director Hideki Kamiya and producer Atsushi Inaba. But the game was later port to the PlayStation 2 by the same design team under the name Clover Studio. And subtitle in Japan Aratanaru Kibō (Japanese: 新たなる希望, lit. “A New Hope”).
But the game’s story concerns Joe, an avid movie-goer whose girlfriend Silvia kidnap during a film starring Joe’s favorite superhero, Captain Blue. Also Joe is shortly thereafter thrust into Movieland, where Silvia is taken by the villainous group known as Jadow. But after accepting a special V-Watch from Captain Blue, Joe transforms into the tokusatsu-style persona “Viewtiful Joe” and sets out to rescue her.
Moreover, the gameplay of Viewtiful Joe features traditional 2D platform side-scrolling intermix with 3D cel-shade graphics. And abilities known as “VFX Powers” grant the player special actions for combat and puzzle-solving, such as slowing down or speeding up time. But Viewtiful Joe was critically acclaim for its unique visual style and gameplay, earning itself a number of awards from various media publications. And a minor commercial success, the game spawn a few sequels with releases seen on other consoles such as the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and Nintendo DS. An anime adaption of the game and a manga series were also produce.

Just when you worry that game developers no longer are going to make great 2D games, along comes Capwith Viewtiful Joe. One of the most stylish, great looking, exciting, pure fun games in a long long time. From the visuals looking like a live action comic book to the ability to slow down (your moves become more powerful) and speed up time (you appear to be multiple people and attack everyone on screen) or even zoom in to get a nicer view of the action (do extra damage and hit both of your enemies if they try to gang up on you on both sides). It’s just a great new take on the sidescrolling 2D (or as this game is 2.5D (backgrounds are 3D) action genre. NnyCW for CapCity

I bought this game because I used to plat it a lot when I was younger. The game works perfectly and I have no complaints.
Games like Viewtiful Joe are sadly hard to come by these days. With all the modern technology of the consoles we are now afforded, most developers have completely forgotten their “roots”. 2D gaming is a lost-passion, but thankfully every now and then a company like Capcom comes along and changes all the rules. Enter Viewtiful Joe.What we have here is a super hero story of wonderful proportions. The game takes place on a 2d plane featuring gorgeously animated 3d characters. The style is truly unmatched and sets Viewtiful Joe aside when compared to other titles. The beatem-up action is heightened by the use of super powers. You can slow down or speed up the action, as well as zoom in. The idea is to use your power to fight “beautifully” … or “viewtifully”. Get it now? Be careful though, if you use your powers too much, you can actually lose them!Viewtiful Joe is sure to be a hit this fall. It’s available exclusively on Nintendo Gamecube. Viewtiful Joe is a great game with stylish graphics. If you like side scrolling action games with good braincracking puzzles then you must buy (or pre-order) this game.Joe has some special moves that can help him to beat his enemies much better but the special moves are also the key to unlock the puzzles. The screenshots that you find on the net are cool but in real life the game is a little bitter nicer and beter.Also a good import game because every character speaks English and there are only subtitles in the language of the land of the rising sun.The kind of games are very good but also rare. You will fall in love when you see this game and i can recommend the game to almost everybody. There are also different difficult levels for Adults and Childeren.
Viewtiful Joe is one of the best and most creative games out on the market today. It stars an average Joe sucked into a movie world and given powers to control time, among other things. Joe can slow and speed up time, which are both effects done much bettter than in the mediocre Enter the Matrix game. He can also zoom in the camera to make Joe more powerful. The game serves up a challenge that really is not offered much these days, which could be a good or bad thing depending on what you think. The levels are very well designed, and the bosses are awesome. A must buy.
