Let me first start off by saying that The Last of Us is a beautiful game, graphically it’s arguably the best you can get on ps3. Scenery is intricate and detailed, filled with collectible items that add depth to the storyline and make it that more meaningful when you reach the game’s conclusion. The only criticism I can find to offer is that The Last of Us is a game of patience, now for my playing style I found this perfectly fine, it adds a crucial tension to the game as a whole (a majority of the game is played much like Splinter Cell or Monaco, it’s stealth based) but for some it may come off as being too “slow” where a game like Uncharted is fast paced and action packed. With that in mind, the story is not the only great thing about the game. The multiplayer is absolutely addictive, it’s organized so that team players are rewarded much more than “lone wolf’s” are and winning matches are not a priority. I would recommend this game to anyone, especially those eager to test the extent of the Playstation 3’s potential.
Man, this game is INTENSE. Lighting, Animation, Sound, Graphics and Story all amazing. Haven’t been this freaked out in a game since Resident Evil’s 1 and 2.The pacing of the game is great as well. Never felt repetitive. The game starts and just continues to build. Each level as fresh and new as the last. It was an amazing adventure and I didn’t even have to leave my couch.Took me 20 hours to play through it and that was with a lot of exploring.Loved it and would recommend it to any gamer or horror suspense fan.
There are a few games that I consider true masterpieces. Such games excel in both storytelling and gameplay. Two games that for me reach that level of perfection are The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Uncharted 2. The Last of Us earned a spot right up there with these two. From beginning to end, I greatly enjoyed the journey Naughty Dog masterfully crafted for me. The game is beautiful to look at. It’s so realistic and detailed that if you are like me it might take it you up to 20 hours to play through it all just because there’s so much to explore and discover, and did I mention it’s so freaking pretty to look at?! You will want to stop and stare at every set piece. There are so many stories hidden for you to find. From notes detailing a survivor’s quest, to the heart breaking room in the sewers that is the last resting place of a family. It all contributes to creating an environment that is bursting with with life yet depicts the bleak reality of this wasteland. But at the heart of all these amazing production values it is Joel and Ellie’s story what steals the show. The bond that develops between them as they make their way through this post apocalyptic version of America makes you care about the characters. I specially love how much they stand apart from your typical pop culture heroes. These guys are there to survive, not to save the day and I love them for that. Ellie’s character is so endearing and funny. Joel’s ruthlessness and seemingly lack of emotion are just.
Gamers are generally a very entitled lot and the more hardcore they are the more likely to nitpick every last detail and nuance that doesn’t cater to their personal preference or loftiest desire.I’ve been playing computer and video games since I was a wee lad, so I have a healthy gamer streak in me. I know of what I speak. So, quickly, the things you will find a bit off-putting about The Last of Us; AI partners that wander around in full view of the enemy, sometimes brushing up past them, and the enemy remains blissfully unaware of their presence.Actually, I think that’s really about it. And even that is only noticeable the first few times it happens. In every other way, The Last of Us is a major leap forward and a total masterpiece of gaming. The unprecedented emotional connection that the game manages to forge with the player is astounding and when the characters were supposed to feel sadness, I felt sadness. When the characters were supposed to feel rage, I felt rage. I have never teared-up as much while playing a video game and The Last of Us hits such melancholy and bittersweet emotional highs and lows that at times it feels all too real. The gameplay itself is visceral and profoundly satisfying, alternately exhilarating and downright horrifying. Moments emerge naturally from the gameplay that will have you on the edge of your seat. The presentation is beyond anything I’ve ever seen, with environments and character models that clearly push the PS3’s hardware to its a.
I’ve only put in around 2 solid hours of the game.. I can honestly say this is one of the most amazing games I have ever played. This game is a mixture of a post apocalyptic blockbuster movie, button clicker, stealth game, and a fps… sort of. I’m here to show my support and amazement at what Naughty Dog has accomplished. This game is stellar and now I am going to continue playing after a short break. Just buy it, I promise you will not regret it. PS: I hope you have a dimly lit room, 1080p HD 55-80 inch or bigger TV with audiophile grade speakers & sub-woofer. You will reach gaming Nirvana.
This game is a brilliant character drama set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse. Early in the game regarding the zombie-like Infected, one character states “You know, as bad as those things are, at least they’re predictable. It’s the normal people that scare me.” I thought this statement was an exaggeration because the Infected unnerved me and fighting them was difficult. But as the game progressed, this statement became truer and truer. The Infected became simple obstacles that I could overcome easily. Conversely, the humans in the game became significantly more complex and dangerous. The Infected might want to rip you to shreds, but the humans have scarier motivations. I became emotionally invested in the protagonists and the travails they experienced left me feeling gutted now and then. If any game deserves to be developed into a movie, it is this one. The voice acting is superb. The animators did a great job of capturing the characters’ emotions. It’s a great game. I highly recommend it for adults. The language is extremely coarse. The violence is graphic. If you aren’t a fan of shooters, don’t worry — it’s not my genre either but I eventually became a pretty good shot.
If you’ve played Uncharted, then you are already sort of familiar with the third person perspective and controls. This game adds some nuances such as the hearing-based enemy location. As for the gameplay, this is different from Uncharted in that it’s slower paced, more methodical and less actiony/run and gun. Be prepared to be immersed in the story as you listen to the conversations between the characters. This game is really hauntingly beautiful.
I’ve played approximately 80 games on my PS3. This is arguably one of the best games ever created. This is the kind of game that stays with you for days, if not weeks. Very thought-provoking story with very interesting characters in a very well realized game world. Even non-gamers could enjoy just watching someone play this game. Other games in my top list would be Red Dead Redemption, GTA5, Skyrim, Dead Space series, Uncharted series, Mass Effect series.
This game is brilliant, I believe the key to this game is both the story and online. The story is about 10-12 hours plus the Left behind DLC about 2 hours its a total of 12-14 hours of gameplay. The graphics are beautiful and voice acting is simply amazing even the quotes on some of the characters will never be forgotten. So is it worth buying that DLC? My answer is if you get really into the main story and you want to find out on Ellie’s past about her being bit and between where Joel gets stabbed and Ellie is taking care of him, its worth the DLC. It still leaves you wondering after the DLC and the main story. Perhaps a sequel? Because it was a cliffhanger ending on both sides. It was a little disappointing but leaves you wanting more. In the end this is a game that shouldve been game of the year when it came out and for the ps4. I know GTA V was released around the time this came out so I guess both games are pretty darn good. The city ruins is designed amazingly. Also the control scheme is pretty neat and basic, youll quicjly adjust to it there is no problems there neither. The characters do feel alive (Obviously since they were modeled by the actors themselves) lets hope there is a sequel.
I play a lot of games and I don’t think I have ever said this before: this was the best game I’ve ever played. Yes, you get to kill zombies, but that’s not what the game is about. The game is about the struggles of Joel and Ellie, both physically and emotionally as they try to survive as they travel across a land that has been destroyed by this outbreak of infection. It has been a long time since I really connected in such an emotional way to a video game story. That’s not to say that the gameplay was lackluster and the story was the only thing done well. Everything about the game was top-notch. Naughty Dog really hit this one out of the park.
