Summoner 2
Summoner 2 is an action role-playing game develop by Volition and publish by THQ as the sequel to Summoner. It was originally release for PlayStation 2 in 2002. And was re-release for the GameCube in 2003 with some visual changes as Summoner: A Goddess Reborn. However, the game features improve visuals and a more real-time, action-orient combat system from the original.
Instead of Joseph, the player now takes on the role of Maia, Queen of Halassar, who is the goddess Laharah reborn. And can transform herself into a variety of “summonable” creatures. So, Maia must heal the legendary Tree of Eleh, the source of Aosi, the language of creation. But along the way, she meets a host of characters, including Yago from the original Summoner game.
Gameplay
Similar to its predecessor, combat is in real time, with spells cast over time depending on the complexity of the spell. And the chain attack system from the first game was remove in favor of a more traditional button combo and guard system. Moreover, skills are increase as the characters level up, and equipment got collect, including skills that are specific for AI control characters. It means the player can focus playing a specific character if desire. Some enemies will respawn over time.
However, unlike the first game, which was play with an unchangeable 5 member party (except for the summon). Summoner 2 only allows up to 3 characters to be in the party at once. Although these characters are pick from a group of 7. Also some sections of the game have a fixed character set-up, and most sections require Maia to be in the party. Also unlike the first game, overworld travel is did point to point, with no random encounters during travel. In addition to forwarding the main plot, Maia can also directly influence the development of the kingdom. She can donate gold which she collect from her adventures to improve the health services, education, and military of her realm, and also issue judgements on a variety of political issues. The decisions made will have repercussions later in the game.
I had a blast with this game. The battles are fast, furious, and best of all, fun! The story is engrossing and won’t let go of you until the last movie has played, the credits have rolled, and even then there’s more in store for you! This game is easily recommendable to almost anybody.
This is one of my favorite games. I LOVE IT. Very underrated.
this game will slap u with how hard it is at first. then it laughs at u cause it just gets steadily worse. the bosses are horrendus, but it is seriously fun. i highlly reccommend it.hellraven
UNDOUBTEDLY THE BEST ADVENTURE/QUEST/KICK BUTT GAME I’VE PLAYEDGOOD FOR MATES TO PLAY I FIGHT THEN MY GIRLFRIEND FINDS EVERYTHINGAND THERE IS ALOT TO FIND. OVER 100 SIDE QUESTS MAKE TOTAL COMPLETION TIME 40+ HOURS ENJOY! BRYAN
This game definitely continues the original Summoner, but not in the conventional way. Its complete opposite look from the original is nice, and an interesting twist. For gamers out there who like to play sequels and spin-offs, go for this. And by the way, once you arrive to a city, you’ll feel the nostalgia of the first. Happy gaming!
Ill be honest with you this is the reason why I re bought a Gamecube. Fun game with a great story. Anybody that likes RPGS has to buy this.
A great GameCube game that is actually Summoner 2 under a different name. The graphics look a little better than the PS2 version
I am a fan of RPG’s, and have played lots of them; on Gameboy, SNES, N64, and Gamecube. Summoner 2 is a fun game with amazing graphics and a very interesting story. However; this game can be really hard at times, especially during the boss battles. You are thrown into a very difficult battle from the very begining of the game, and it just gets harder from there. It also takes an excruciatingly long time to build your characters levels after the first 10 or so. Bottom line, get this game if you want a fun RPG with great graphics and story; but be prepaired to spend hours upon hours building your characters levels if you expect to complete it.
