If you look up "genuinely good PlayStation 2 games" in any modern dictionary, there will not be a written definition. Just a photo of the box art for SSX 3. The game is unbelievably re-playable and fun beyond belief. If you ever have the chance to get your hands on this masterpiece, I suggest you do it without hesitation. I’m not kidding, this game is literally worth buying a brand new PS2 for. Just do it already! 25/10
I am not saying that this game is bad but it gets sorta boring after a while. I rented it for a weekend then its started getting boring. I was about to buy this game but I wanted to rent it first. Then I realized that it was ok.The game is very short, there are only three peaks. There is a lodge that you start off in “Conquer the Mountain” where you can change hairstyles or change or buy clothes, and buy boards. Thats pretty neat. The stages are just wild! Thats what I like of SSX games. This one is a lot better than the previous ones.Definetely rent this game if you can. I am not telling you to not buy it but I recommend you not to.Have fun with the game!
Whoa, that about sums up my feelings on SSX3. If you thought SSX Tricky had sweet moves you haven’t seen half of it. SSX3 takes the sensation of tricks to a whole new level, with mind-numbing graphics and controls that will make you feel like your there on the mountain freezing your butt off because your only wearing a t-shirt and boxers. When I first picked up this game I was leery to compare it to the o-so-great SSX Tricky. It turns out that I couldn’t compare it to Tricky at all because this game is in a league of its own. At the start of the game, they dropped me of at the peak and I snaked my way down this huge mountain, constantly wondering if I have chosen a wrong path. There are so many directions one can chose it is incredible. There is no limit to fresh powder and great views either. If you don’t want to race competitively you can scout the course and find tons of hidden features and shortcuts or you can race competitively and earn mad cash. The freestyle options in this game are fun and improved. Do stunts in a half pipe or on a kick ass street course with tons of jumps and rails. Now with two tiers of uber tricks one can pull off awesome combos including handstands, board presses, and uber rail slides. The biggest problem with this game is trying to grind. Once one gets on those rails its no problem but getting on is the real challenge. Just one small miscalculation and you lose tons of turbo and kill any combo points. One other small problem is that whe.
Great game
I know that this game is going to be good. I have seen some videos of it, and the graphics are very good, and the mountain, and the courses are so beutiful! In this game there is only one moutain, and 3 different stages, you have to beat missions to get money or somthing like that, to like buy new boards, or gear, or a lift ticket to the next stage, ect. Also for the PS2 owners only it will be online. From what I have heard when you play it online it will only be 1 on 1…But it is still going to be a great add on. You will need a Network Adaptor though, but I can tell you this…With Socom 2, Tony Hawk’s Underground, and this game comming out…its going to BE WELL WORTH getting the Network Adaptor!
I still consider this to be the pinnacle of Winter Sports games currently in existence. A lot of the newer (Shaun White, Amped) games are a little more polished (and damn, they should be, they are on next-gen systems!) but frankly, not a whole lot more than this game was on the PS2.Graphically, its strong. While not photorealistic, the imagery serves the purpose, representing the over-the-top world that the Mountain is. The frame rate is fast, and you are moving down the mountain at blistering pace. The controls are easy to master, but challenging enough that pulling off that multi-combo trick is still a feat. The world is large enough that exploring it all takes quite a while, and the individual parts (terrain parks, pipes, avalanche-prone backcountry) keep it interesting and varied. The weather changes, the atomosphere creates a sense of fun or urgency, and the cities built on the slopes are cool, cool, cool.Lastly, the music still ranks, in my mind, as the best overall soundtrack in a videogame. Indie music, rare remixes, and multi-genre tracks make this game as cool and outsider as the sport itself used to be.This is a rare game that I think trumps most releases I can think of in the past decade in terms of overall playability and repeat play value. Really, I can’t say enough good things about it – if you ski/board, I’m pretty confident this game will STILL be one the best investments you can make.
The only word that really comes to mind after playing this game all night long is WOW!!! Finally, after a couple of years of mastering SSX Tricky, I get my hands on this absolutely perfect new addition to the SSX series. I have to admit that I thought that I would be able to step up to this game and be tearing it up just as hard as I do on Tricky, however I was put in my place very quickly. Although your skills at Tricky will help out at the start of playing this game, you will also find that there is still much to learn. I look forward to mastering this masterpiece.I gave SSX 3 5 Stars for the absolutely breathtaking graphics, the awesome layout of the mountain, and overall gameplay and fun factors. SSX 3 will serve for many upon many hours of enjoyment for the SSX fan in all of us! I highly recommend purchasing this game if you are a fan of the series, or just need a new game that is sure NOT TO DISAPPOINT!
Still just as good as when I was a kid, good graphics, customizable characters , fun even for people who don’t normally like sportsy games
Great game & arrived quick!
This game is even better than SSX Tricky. The Mountain Design is great, there are even more insane tricks, and there is an awsome music sound track. Plus you can play online! The only problem of this game is only two players can play and sometimes you will think you see a clear shortcut and it says off course.
