SpyHunter
SpyHunter is a vehicular combat game. It is a remake and sequel of the 1983 arcade game of the same name first release for PlayStation 2 in 2001. It has since been port to GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance. In the game, the player drives the G-6155 Interceptor, an advance, weaponize spy vehicle. Unlike the original’s top-down view, the remake is play with a chase camera, similar to a racing game.
Plot
The plot deals with Alec Sects, an F-15 pilot who was train by the FBI, as he tries to take down Nostra. An Israeli-base international company that produces food products, bio-chemicals, genetics, e-commerce and children’s software. Daemon Curry, a man who believes himself to be the figure mention in several religions. For example: the second christ/antichrist and believes in the prophecies of Nostradamus is the founder and leader. To deal with him, the IES create a team Spyhunter. Curry has reason to believe that it is the same person who stop him in 1983 (Spy Hunter). When he was trying to launch his plan, he sends all he has after him.
EMP Weapons
However, Curry’s plan is to use four EMP weapons mount on satellites, dub the Four Horsemen. To stop all electricity in the world, then plans to rule. Originally Alec does light missions, mostly destruction of Nostra property (like a vehicle create from Nostra and stolen IES technology). However, Nostra hijacks the “Weapons Van” and an Interceptor, and Alec is force to destroy it. Eventually, the G-6155 Interceptor receives an upgrade (and a change of paint) to the G-6155 Interceptor II, complete with an EMP Launcher, Scanner, and a shorter Turbo lag time. Nostra’s schemes become more dangerous. And Alec finds himself returning to most of the previous Nostra bases for more intense missions such as destroying weapons of mass destruction.
Later, He finds the headquarters where the Four Horsemen are base in Petra. After a hard-fought battle, the Four Horsemen are defuse and explode, while Alec escapes on the Interceptor II. Following a parachute dive from the cliff-side base and landing safely on the ground. He heads toward Russia, setting the stage for SpyHunter 2. Curry’s fate is never shown, but he is most likely kill in the explosion as he is not mention among the Nostra ringleaders in the sequel.

This is a good game for people who like blowing stuff up. You start the game doing missions against NOSTRA (bad guy’s) in the G-6155 Interceptor (nice car). Before every mission you are told what to do, but sometimes it’s difficult to figure out how to do it. After completing a mission you get another weapon or a better weapon!. The controls are a bit difficult at first, but if you don’t give up easy, this games for you.
Spyhunter is an awesome game! I played this with my nephew, and we enjoyed unlocking level after level. We managed to beat the game which was very exciting. Even after beating the game, this is fun to play in 2 player mode.
This game is cool. If you want mission style games, shooting games and driving games, this is the game that you want. The graphics are cool, the weapons and you can be transformed into a speedboat or a motorcycle. This game will…..HUNT you!!!
A pretty interesting game with good graphics and challenging gameplay. A must have for fans of midway’s games.
This is a great game for any gamer, beginner, intermediate, or expert. If any of you know of the Spy Hunter they made for the Atari 2600(r.) this is quite a step into the future. The Car (G-Interceptor) can morph into a Motorcycle when shields are low, when hitting water a Power Boat or Jet Ski. The Car can have A rack of hood mounted missiles, Dual forward machine guns, Black Smoke that comes out the bumper for enemeys to get lost in, and a variety of other weapons. One of the biggest feats I believe Midway overcame was the real time video. There are no video-breaks, tweaks, anything like that it is just fast streaming video. That is excellent with the pixel rate it is running at for the PS2 console. If you?re into anything like racing, 3PS (3rd person shooter), or just action/adv. games this is the game for you. Doesn?t matter where you buy it its going to be 50.00 that?s the penalty of the PS2 console. You can sometimes find it used on eBay(r.) for anywhere between 20-35$. I often have games for sale but not currently check under shop Vipero22. I highly recommend this game to anyone!
It’s a fun game, but way too difficult. It’s great to see an update to an older game like Spyhunter that allows people like myself to relive some of the fun I had with the original as a kid. There are some nice weapons to use, as well as seeing that your car can convert into a speedboat and a motorcycle as well. One of the pitfalls of the game is it’s difficulty. Even the training mission caused problems for me at first because I didn’t understand what I was supposed to do with certain parts such as the boat sequence. That could have been explained a little better. Also, the controls are good, but I think it’s not as realistic as something like Grand Turismo 3.Overall, it’s a great game that can be fun, but I wouldn’t buy it for someone who isn’t an expert gamer.
I always thought people who played video games were loosers. Then I bought a Playstation2/Spy Hunter for my kids. Now I can’t switch the game off. My kids hate me and my marriage is in ruins. BRILLIANT! Spy Hunter is for all right thinking adults out there. Kids…go and play on your bikes!
This game is everything the James Bond series isn’t. You know those two or three driving missions in all the Bond games? The ones where you get to drive something hot like an Aston Martin with rockets and guided missiles? I always enjoy them, but there are so few that I play them to death and quickly tire of them. SpyHunter (now a few years old) is still the epitome of arcade, shoot-em-up racing. Your car, the Interceptor, has all the Bond-esque features you love (like smoke screens and machine guns) with the added bonus of MORE THAN TWO MISSIONS!! Fourteen missions still isn’t much, but who’s counting if the gameplay is good? (esp. if you add in the unlockable movies, multiplayer games and cheats)…P.S. The first level can seem daunting at first, since there’s no Tutorial. But you must pass it! You must! Pass it, I say!
Spy Hunter for the PS2 is just excellent! The game has been completely made over from its 1982 origins. The controls are excellent, and easily mastered, and offer a wide assortment of weapons, and defensive options. The missions are challenging, but not to the point of being frustratingly difficult. Hey I have a life!!!! With a little practice, and then some more practice. The game can be completed in a relatively short amount of time. The settings are fun, and well rendered, and the car’s exit scenes in each mission just kept getting better until the end of mission 14 (the final mission). I had been hoping for more of a dramatic ending, and was a little disappointed that a classic Bond-Style ending was lacking. The only reason i could come up for this was that Spy Hunter 3 must be on someone’s ‘To Do’ list. For the most part excellent game, and hope that you enjoy it!!
