I know this is blasphemy, but when I compare Splinter Cell to MSG2, I would have to take Splinter Cell. The lighting effects are awesome. Furthermore, I really enjoy not having to rely on a radar which just isn’t realistic. Most importantly, I haven’t spent half of the game watching a movie. I will take gameplay over story any day. Besides, the MSG2 story didn’t make any sense. Some people complain about the combat system. Splinter Cell isn’t about combat. It is about the super cool ways to get around the guards. It is quite a hard game. You will spend most of the first level trying to get the moves down. However, once I figured it out, I couldn’t wait to hit the next situation. I guess the difficulty is the only reason for giving it four stars. There are times when I don’t want to replay an entire section because I [fouled] up once….
This has to be the best stealth action game in the world! I am only on the second level of the game but holy cow it is fun. Warning this game is not a game for kids who are under 10 or 11. Im 13 and I think its a pretty freaky game. You may be wondering why I think its freaky, well because mostly how it is really dark in the game and in the first misson you find to dead people with blood all over. But it has a great suspense to it and has a big adrenaline rush type of game. Also if you are not a patient type of person do not get it. This game requires knowledge and skill. you have to be very stealthy in order accomplish your objectives. Now dont get me wrong this game has alot of action to. you start out with a 9mm pistol that is scilenced. Later on in the game I think you get a sniper rifle that has a bunch of attachments. So when you have a gun you have th choice to either kill the guard that is in front of you, try to sneek past nerver being seen by the guard, or you can get up close and either grab him by the kneck and interrogate him or just knock out the guy. But when ever you kill or knock out a guy you must hide the body. So it is your choice. So onto the graphics. The graphics are…….. Amazing!! I was shocked when I started playing I thought man the graphics are beutiful. The lighting of the game is what makes the graphics so unique. I mean they look like Xbox 360 graphics, and this is on the ps2!! so the graphics are great. The sound…… Amazing every step you.
This game deserves 5 stars, but I wish it developed into a multiplayer type of game so you could keep on playing it.Played the game on the hardest setting the first time and made it through although you have to be sneaky to get past the hard parts. Had to get a game book to help me when I got stuck…trying to find the next path to get you through the level. The announcer’s voice get’s tiring, “My God, have you gone insane?” when you shoot the bad guys when your not supposed to ;-) Some missions require that NO ONE get’s killed so you spend a lot of time knocking out the bad guys with your pistol–or you can let them have it with a right-cross which is fun when you see them stagger around from the first punch…then knock them to the ground with a second punch.
Thank you
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is by far, the best spy/stealth game ever made! The Graphics are smooth, the sound is superb, gameplay is five-stars, and AI is perfect. The thermal and night vision goggles assist in your pitch-black missions, along with well animated moves such as ziplining, repelling, rolling, wall-splits, and dives. The missions are complex, yet fun andsuspenseful.Overall, I rate this a must-buy for EVERYONE!
Welcome to the world of covert ops! This game is extremely realistic, except you cant knock on walls like in MGS2, but thats ok, because all the high tech gadgets make up for that. I love this game so much, that i’ve bbeaten it and I still go through the levels! Guarenteed to please if you are into stealth games! This does require a lot of patience, But HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
As the title may suggest, the game is very good. It’s intense action scenes, heart pounding stealth and VERY limited amount of ammo make for a GREAT GAME. Its exciting all the way through. ANyone, not just a stealth gamer fan, will enjoy this game. The biggest problem with these game is it’s relative shortness. While it is sizably longer than the X-box version it is still beatable in I’d say under 12 hours. A good weekend or two at most could take down this game. I do strongly recomend this game, but you may want to take it one check point at a time.
This game is definately better than MGS in my opinion, for one simple reason. You get to play it. MGS is so inundated with cut scenes it ruins the whole game. I want to play the game not watch an hour of cut scenes every 15 minutes. That said, the graphics are awesome, the controls really aren’t that difficult, the sound is awesome, and the enemy AI is great. I rank this game just ahead of Medal of Honor as far as action games go for the PS2. It’s a great game, very fun and addicting. Remember, stealth is always the best strategy in this game. Buy this game, I’m sure you’ll like it.
Having long envied my Xbox-owning friends for having this game, I’ve finally gotten a chance to play it myself on the PS2, and, I’m happy to say, while it doesn’t live up to the hype — what *does* these days, except maybe GTA? — it CERTAINLY didn’t disappoint me. Splinter Cell does not suffer from the clunkiness that so many "stealth" games have (although it isn’t as fluid in gameplay as Metal Gear Solid 2). It really IS fun. It’s true, your gadgets are sparse, but the gameplay is fluid, it’s easy to jump into (especially for a Clancy game), and it’s *just* not frustrating enough to be fun for all, so to speak. That being said, it’s no Metal Gear Solid, but it ranks up there with Hitman 2 as one of the most fun stealth-oriented games I’ve ever played. Let me put it this way: It won’t disappoint you like SOCOM may have, but it also won’t quite blow you away like MGS2 did. On a scale of 1-10 (I grade easily), graphics get a 7.5, gameplay gets an 8, plot and cutscenes get a 10, ease of play gets a 9, and…well, I’ll tell you about replayability later, I have to get back to the game. :p (But I’d *guess* around a 6.5)
Back in my former life as an avid PC gamer, one of my favorite games was Thief (the original, not the 2004 release that I am unable to try out). Since those days, I’ve longed for a game that rewarded pure stealth and strategy over blazing guns and quick trigger fingers. I found partial relief in Metal Gear Solid 2, but it was definitely not the same. Now, at last, my thirst has been quenched by /Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell/.Pros: * Immersive gameplay with a heavy emphasis on staying in the shadows and keeping quiet. * Nice gadgets to play with. You’ve got just enough tech to make your missions possible, but not so much that you are overwhelmingly superior. Spy on conversations, peek under doors, see in the dark. Cool toys, and all very useful. * Great graphics for the PS2, with impressive lighting and atmospheric effects. Fabrics billow in the wind and swirl around objects, lanterns sway in the breeze, etc. * Excellent voice acting and sound effects. The pre-rendered cut scenes are very nice, although not exactly movie quality. The DVD style “extras” are rather cool, also. * VERY tight control scheme. It may not be 100% intuitive, but it feels a lot better than MGS2 (which, to me, seems a little sluggish).Cons: * Not all lights can be shot out to make shadows to hide in. This is probably a limitation imposed by the PS2’s dynamic lighting capabilities. It does limit your creativity at certain points in the game, though. * Frequent breaks in the action to load new areas (on the.
