I won’t mince words here: Spec Ops: The Line is a terrific game, with plenty of white-knuckle action blended with spot-on accurate controls, spiced with a good supply of eye-opening visuals as you journey deep into this world of sand, wind, brutality, and devastation. With sharp graphics, rousing Apocalypse-Now-era music, and character dialogue that is lively but never silly, this game immerses you right away in a journey to a Middle Eastern Heart of Darkness. The story is serviceable enough, but it’s the smooth transitions from a calm moment of exploration to pulse-pounding gunplay that make the experience here shine. I won’t give too much away, but in the chapter called The Pit you will be suddenly, abruptly, and violently thrown into a situation where you will be on the edge of your chair trying to keep your soldier from being stabbed, tackled, and shot from just about every direction imaginable. The firefight that ensues is as frenetic as warfare can get, but at the same time you will marvel at the enemy AI and how well the whole scene plays out. Simply put, I didn’t want this game to end. With so many games on the market sporting wonky controls, bad mouse sensitivity, and frustrating save-game points, Spec Ops:The Line is one game that does it right.
Game’s story really turns the standard shooter plot on its head, but the FPS gameplay is a little weak compared to the more cookiecutter ones.

Spec Ops: The Line is a third person cover shooter that takes place in Dubai after a sand storm has wreaked havoc among the city and its inhabitants. If you liked the movie Apocalypse Now then you’ll love this game. Apocalypse Now is a movie that takes place during a war but is about the heart and souls of man. This game is just like that. This review will be solely about the single player portion. The graphics, graphic effects, environments, models, skins, sounds, all of it are done with amazing quality. The game is often just stunning to look at. The shooter-play is somewhat like Gears of War, but not quite as refined or smooth. I will admit that the cover system has a few quirks, but the check point system is forgiving. The gun variety is immense, the battlefields feel very three dimensional, and there is just a hint of tactical shooter — but nothing overwhelming for those who aren’t into that. The variety in shooting galleries, combat scenarios, and high stress situations is enough to keep most of the game play fresh without being too wishy-washy.The real gem of this game, the real strength, the real depth is in the story. The progression of the characters, and the story are incredible. There are many points through out the game where you will — wittingly and unwittingly — make choices that affect the rest of the game. Things are not always what they seem, and you never really know where the line between good and evil lays at any one time. The game play is.
Feels Ops : The Feel
Haven’t played it yet because my PC is in the shop, but I looked good on the "Steam" web site.
I love this game, but keep getting shoot etc. a lot. Sure it’s my fault.
This game is really good, but as a single player person, they should come out with $29 games in single player mode only. I do not play online games and never will. Got luck and grabbed this one for only $38, but that is still too much for 12 hours of entertainment. That said, the game is fun, especially after playing Max Payne 3. LOL. I played the demo and liked it, but going forward, I will not be paying $50 for pc games. I will wait until they come down to under $30. Grab the demo first and see if you like it before you buy it.
Spec Ops: The Line is a gritty look at military shooters. Sure, it has some of the over the top set pieces similar to other, more popular military shooters, but none divulge this deep into the psyche of a soldier than Spec ops.The main theme of Spec Ops, is surprising apt given the title. When have you crossed a line that never should have been crossed? What do you do after? By the time you finish the game, you’ll have the answer to both those questions, in shocking fashion.I HIGHLY recommend this game for anyone who is looking for a fun third person, cover based shooter with an excellent gripping story.
Good graphics! Tight control! Lots of action! I want more games like this (anybody knows any game similar to this?)!
