Worked great, no scratches.
Despite the original reviews of the game, The Room is one of the scariest SH titles and is greatly underappreciated. I enjoyed the new direction they were taking, and yes – it was always planned to be a SH title. If you haven’t played it, try it and form your own opinion.
..So, don’t listen to the hardcore fanboys/girls who are trashing this game simply because it strays from the original SH formula. First off, this game scared the out of me. Floating ghosts, creepy two-headed baby monsters, and those hairless ape things are the stuff nightmares are made of. Oh, and the water prison..O_o..yeah, disturbing. Secondly, the graphics are awesome. You can tell a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into the making of this game. As you explore you’ll notice the little details that tell you that the people who worked on this game were really trying to pull out all the stops. The character design is wonderfully detailed and realistic (especially for a PS2). The characters themselves are likeable. You sympathize with them and you want to protect them. As a long time SH fan I was at first hesitant to play SH4 because of all the bad things I’d been hearing about it. “It wasn’t even originally meant to be a SH game!” *Le GASP* I’m glad that I decided to give it a try, because if I hadn’t I’d have been depriving myself of an awesome experience. From the beginning SH4 in. The story was so engrossing that the hours flew by. SH4 is now one of my all time favorite games (I even went and bought the soundtrack). I’ve beaten it several times, and I’ll probably play it again in the future. So, don’t let the fanboy hissy-fits turn you off. If you enjoy uber disturbing horror survival games then SH4 is well worth your time.
My favorite game of all time. The black sheep of the series, a well deserving title. Black is the best color!
Like many reviewers I kept asking myself throughout the game: why the hell can’t he just break out of his own apartment? But also like them, I had to succumb to the machinations of the creators of Silent Hill 4 and finish the game.
Thanks
I’ve read about the Silent Hill series of games for years and tried Silent Hill 2 for PC, but did not care for it. I abandoned it before ever finishing it.Silent Hill 4 is an impressive game, overall. Very complex and a strong storyline. This is why I give it 4 stars. Here’s why I cannot give it 5:There are some definite scares, but they tend to wear thin after awhile. Going back and forth, over and over, to the room and the same terrain got old. Also, one thing I’m really not a fan of is the grunge/blood/rust/gritty look of every single scene. I think the areas that were ghastly and gritty would have had more of an impact on my senses if Henry’s apartment, when it was normal, didn’t look like it hadn’t been painted or cleaned for several years. Henry’s apartment is supposed to get worse as the story deepens, but because the room is already in such a dull state, I really didn’t notice it.With such detailed graphics and attention toward drawing you into a horrific experience, I think the artists missed the boat on cleaning up the more normal areas.Despite my opinion, this IS an excellent game and I have no regrets in buying it.
I like this Story.. I just like the type of horror games with the stories that you can imagine yourself in the situation and how creepy it is. Im up for Silent Hill 5 for ps3
amazing! bought it used, but it looked brand new! no scratches, no issues with the disk. the box was in perfect condition, too! would buy again.
Solid game, good and fun gameplay with some unfortunate tedious aspects foreign to its series predecessors. Remarkably through all the changes still holds the unique Silent Hill quality. Worth purchasing. However, I should note that this game is most likely in a “hate it or love it” scenario. If you are a fan of the genre or series, chances are you’ll love it.Cons:- Quest items go into your inventory with the rest of the other items, taking up the very limited space you already have and in some instances forcing the player to return back to the storage box to leave survival supplies in order to carry a quest item for a relatively short duration.- The Megaman effect: In this game, the player will have to repeat situations multiple times with different objectives with little change to the environment.- At times, unclear objectives or lack of explanation on certain key elements/quests.- Simple, uninventive boss sequence.- Some enemies seem out of place for the Silent Hill series and enemy encounters are sometimes crafted in an unoriginal fashion. Example: Increased quantity of enemies rather than increased quality.- Ambience is not used as effectively as it was in the predecessors of the series. Sometimes ambient noises seem misplaced or irrelevant, creating a more sort of Resident Evil “jump out and scare you for the heck of it” theme park ride feel.Pros:+ The new feature of the room the player returns to to fulfill quest objective, heal, and resupply or store ite.
