SEGA GAME GEAR – FEATURES
The Sega Game Gear was a revolutionary system for its time. Technologically superior to its competition, the console packed quite a punch, and was regarded as one of the most powerful handheld systems of its time. It also was one of the first systems to look at ergonomics: its rounded edges and longer length make playing it far more comfortable than other ...handhelds.
A POWERHOUSE OF THE 4th GENERATION
The Game Gear comes with impressive specifications for a handheld console, using most of the MasterSystem’s hardware, allowing it to play complex games and display beautiful graphics and high-quality sound. Its screen featured a 160×144 resolution and its advanced chipset grant it a palette of 4096 colours, of which 32 can be displayed on-screen at a time!FULL-COLOUR BLACKLIT SCREEN
With the Game Gear, you don’t have to worry about nighttime or too much sunlight anymore. The system features a fully backlit screen, allowing you to play your favorite titles in all lighting conditions. It’s also full colour, so you don’t have to compromise on those beautiful graphical details when you game on the go!SEGA GAME GEAR – THE GAMES
With a library of over 300 own titles, as well as compatibility with the Sega Master System, the Game Gear boasts an impressive list of games, guaranteeing you’ll always find something to play on the go.COLUMNS
This highly addictive puzzle game will have you attempt to match three symbols of the same type by arranging falling columns. You can move the columns left and right, as well as cycle the position of the gems inside it. Aim for that high score or try to reach the game’s limit of 99,999,999 points for endless fun!ECCO THE DOLPHIN
Take on the role of the beloved Ecco, a bottle-nosed dolphin looking to defeat the evil alien race known as the Vortex in order to rescue his friends. The game’s unique theme is reflected in the gameplay, as you will be using Ecco’s natural abilities to overcome obstacles and defeat your foes, ramming, swimming and using your echolocation, for a truly unique experience!SONIC THE HEDGEHOG
Take the role of the beloved Sonic in this all-acclaimed, fast-paced platformer. Embark on a quest to defeat Dr. Robotnik, a scientist who has imprisoned animals in robots and stolen the powerful Chaos Emeralds. The gameplay involves collecting those iconic rings as a form of health, and an easy to learn but hard to master control scheme, with jumping and attacking controlled by a single button..MORTAL KOMBAT
A port of the original arcade title, this version features all the action you love about the series. Choose from the now-iconic characters: Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, Raiden, Scorpion, Sonya, Sub-Zero and take on your opponents in the Mortal Kombat tournament in order to save Earthrealm. Just like the Genesis version, this port features a blood code, allowing you to enjoy the game as it was meant to be played!STREETS OF RAGE 2
This side-scrolling beat-up up almost needs no introduction. Taking the role of Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding or the all-new Eddie “Skate” Hunter, you will once again take on Mr. X and his Syndicate using an arsenal of weapons, combos, and the now-iconic Blitz Attacks.DISNEY’S ALADDIN
Disney’s Aladdin is a 2D side-scrolling video game in which the player controls Aladdin and his monkey Abu through several stages taking place throughout the city of Agrabah. game gear is cool because it has back liting you can make the screan briter or darker. the sonic compard to game boy advance is much better than game boy advanced.
The Sega Game Gear is a great portable system with tons of power and great graphics. Yes, the Gameboy’s grahpics are better, but this system was released over a decade ago. The screen is backlit, which is an awesome feature, especially for travelling. It is a little on the large side, but it’s well worth the size/weight. The system does eat batteries, but buying an adapter is cheap, so [the cost] is nothing to worry about. The games are great, and all around, this system is worth the price!
I love it
Okay, just so that you know, I am an avid video gamer who owns over 17 systems, including a slew of handhelds–Gameboy Advanced, Gameboy Color, Atari Lynx, Wonderswan Color, Game Gear, Sega Nomad and Neo Geo Pocket. Even though my GBA and Nomad (since it plays Genesis games) has more of the types of games I enjoy, puzzlers and RPGs, the Game Gear is the best possible handheld you can get FOR UNDER FOURTY DOLLARS(with a game). For UNDER the price of ONE Gameboy Advanced game you get:GREAT STURDY MACHINE–I can’t begin to count the number of times I have dropped my GG and it still worked. It’s way heavy though, especially with attachments like the battery pack and magnifer, so it isn’t a portable in the pocket Gameboy sense, more like a large VCR tape, but it’s still small enough for backpacks and the like. Plus the screen doesn’t seem to scratch up as easily as my gameboy’s, though screen ‘fuzzies’ plague this machine more than the GB.GREAT SOUND–in order just to hear the main sounds on a GBA game I have to use headphones and jack the sound up way high. Not with my GG, sound is crisp and even faint sounds can be heard at medium volume setting.BACKLIGHT–I can’t stress enough how much this feature is a plus beyond compare. No more light attachments or expensive warranty-voiding light modifications. It’s nice to be able to play in the dark without going blind.BIG SCREEN–also a great plus, playing fast games like Sonic titles isn’t compromised by lack of view space to see what you are doing.MANY ACCESSORIES–great add ons like a battery pack, the collector’s item the TV Tuner which I still enjoy using (though my GBC does have a nifty radio turner, but hey that doesn’t beat watching the Simpsons on the GG), a screen magnifer (though it’s hideous), ac adapter, and car attachment.GREAT GAMES–despite only having like one or two US RPG releases on the Game Gear, a big minus to me, there are still a host of good games for this system. I have 30 for it, and though ebay and.
I have to say, from the looks of this Game Gear, I thought it wasn’t going to turn on using the on off switch. But like magic, Installed 6 AA Batteries in the compartment, stuck in the used Mortal Kombat cartridge game, and away I went to playing with no problems. however, after a few days of owning the Sega Game Gear, the screen would appear all glitchy with bars all over the screen. To my successful shakin’ and touching around the screen, the MK menu appeared on the screen of my Game Gear. Either it’s the Mortal Kombat game that is giving me this problem, or it might be the batteries. After all, lots of people say the Game Gear is known for draining up the batteries fairly quickly. Nevertheless, I feel confident playing on my Sega Game Gear. It may not be brand new, but it’s perfect to me.. Honnestly, I think it’s the used game that’s giving me this issue with my Sega Game Gear.
This is the greatest system hands down! I’ve owned all the others and have gotten rid of all but one of them but will never part with my Sega Game Gear. I got my 1st one 9 years ago, and I just ordered my 4th one. Not that they wear out, my first one is still going strong! I have one in my room, one for travel, one to take to work (don’t tell my boss) :)The games are great and you can play in the dark, no need for clumsy clip on lights. And with the right model, you can watch TV on it! What more could you ask?
Where has this game been all my life?? A 4 game boy family, I bought 2 Game Gear this year. Only because it was cheap! Games cheap as well… My 4 kids are constantly playing these, as well as fighting over them. I am going to buy 2 more. I will be selling the game boys. GB has nothing on GG. The picture is large, you can see the detail and play in the dark! (Quiter car rides) It is very much like real arcade games. The only complaint is they take 6 batteries each and only last about a day. I will be finding electric adapters for them! This is a great deal!! My kids ages are 14, 10, 8 and 5, they ALL love it.
I like the game gear(I found one at a yardsale for cheap) it plays like a charm if you think that paying 1 to 200 dollars just for the system is stupid/crazy just buy one of these portable systems to take along with you! The only downside is that they use 4 batteries, but, they dont use much unless you have the screen white and the volume all the WAY UP!!! The game gear is grate if you were thinking of buying them you should by them now before there isnt any more!!!
Nostalgia trip! Thumbs up!
