Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem is a video game base on the Hanna-Barbera/Warner Bros. cartoon Scooby-Doo. The game was develop by Artificial Mind and Movement and publish by THQ in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. It was later release for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox in 2004.
Plot
When Scooby and the gang discover someone has release thousands of real ghosts and monsters from a magic book called The Tome of Doom. They race to solve mysteries and put the monsters back.
Gameplay
However, the player controls two characters, Shaggy Rogers and Scooby-Doo, as they progress through five levels. Solving mysteries for Mystery Inc. Shaggy and Scooby get to switch places when the player wants to play either as Shaggy or Scooby, find a clue then report it to Velma Dinkley. And can defeat certain monsters, using the Tome of Doom. Each character has a different ability. Also certain levels feature only one playable character.
Moreover, the Tome of Doom can be charge up using magical wisps which the player can collect along their way. When the Tome of Doom is either low on magic or runs out. Also, the player characters have a ‘cool meter’, which when empty, causes the player to lose control of the character. And the player can refill this meter by consuming Scooby Snacks or other foods found in the level. However, certain food items are count as collectibles and unlock bonuses if the player finds all of them within a particular level.

The game froze a lot. I don’t think that it should have been sold.
I bought this game for my 4 1/2 year old son who loves Scooby. He loves it and can play it by himself. This game is perfect for kids his age and ability level.

I bought this as an Easter present for my 4 year old son, who loves Scooby Doo. He absolutely loves this game! A few parts are a little hard, problem solving and running back and forth to unlock doors and what-not; but with a little help he moves along just fine. It’s much easier than the other Gamecube Scooby games, and he is definitely getting plenty of gameplay out of it. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because sometimes the problem solving parts are pretty hard, and I can’t even help him. But that being said, I would highly recommend this game!

We just got a GameCube. This game is sooooo much easy than “Scooby Doo and 100 Frights”. You save more often and our 6 yr old can do most of the stuff. We actually got to the end of the game. wow! There are some difficult parts where the kid will throw the control at you and say, “You do it!” I would recommend this to any young gaming newcomer.

I bought my son a gamecube for Christmas and Scooby Doo Night of 1000 Frights. He loves the game but some of the levels are extremely hard for someone of his age. When he saw the commercial for the Mystery Mayhem game he of course really wanted it. Given the difficulty level of the first game, I was at first reluctant to purchase (my son is 5 and relatively new to the video game scene). However, after caving in and getting it, I am really glad I did. The levels are much easier for him to manuever and he really loves being able to play as Scooby or Shaggy. If he gets stuck I can usually help him through (in the Night of 1000 Frights some of the levels were too difficult for me!) Anyway, he really loves the game and the fact that is seems to be geared more toward younger players is a major plus. Overall I would say a big hit for the younger players, older more experienced gamers might find it a little too easy. Hope this is helpful.
