This high rating may seem insane, since critics did not like this game at all. I however, found a lot of enjoyment in this game. Rodea the Sky Soldier is a fast-paced action adventure game with an emphasis on flight and exploration. The gameplay in this game is certainly interesting. It features 3d levels that have a goal as each story segment occurs. These goals keep the player from getting lost. While that sounds silly since the game seems linear, it actually is very helpful. More on that later. One thing I liked about this game was the excellent and fun level design. The levels in this game are built so that two playstyles and be used to approach them. These are speed and exploration. If one wants to simply fly through the main story, these levels can be played at a blazing fast pace, rivaling Sonic Unleashed’s speed at times. This is because the game has many light-dash segments and a boost attack. This boost attack is meant for attacking enemies, however it can also be used to fly through levels at a very fast pace. This speed makes the game a lot of fun, especially since levels can be replayed for speed runs. The other playstyle for this game is exploration. Remember when I talked about the goal points that are always on display? I believe these are here so that the player does not get lost. While the game can seem linear, there are items and secret medals that are hidden in every level. The items collected are very useful because they go towards the upgrade system. More o.
If you like involving stories, characters whose personalities develop as you progress, and spontaneous comical dialogue, this game is for you!Be it known to the reader that I bought the 3DS version of the game before the Wii U version, unaware of the game’s background. I had no preconceived ideas about the game, its characters, its story, or its intended platform. Also, be warned that there are "spoilers" of a sort in this review, but only to share those parts of the player input which I feel to be important in determining which version of the game to purchase (you should absolutely get this game). The first point of which the reader must be aware is that this game is NOT to be compared with any other. Being called "Rodea the Sky Soldier", it should come as no surprise that the game revolves around the character’s ability to fly – but this is featured as a central element, and is by no means a gimmick. The game is a completely fresh experience, exploring new abilities and concepts ignored by most action games. Many entirely original ideas were implemented in both the action and the completely optional upgrade system (which makes the game much easier), blazing a fresh new trail left flagrantly unexplored by this era’s complicated role-playing games and even by the disappearing true action/adventure category. In terms of goal, Rodea the Sky Soldier is fairly straightforward – just follow the direction indicator to the checkpoint, smashing enemies, collecting item.
This is the first time I’ve play Rodea anything so bare with me… I’ve been playing for three days now and I love the story, thus far and the graphics (while not perfect) are expected for 3DS. (Aka nice) but my one complaint is the flight controls. I have shown improvement so it could simply be user error, and a simple need to practice. The ting is his flight controls are super sensitive, so it is difficult to not overshoot your target and go flying off a cliff. I do Not recommend this game for small children as I have found the controls complex. Also there Isn’t a vertical camera movement you can only rotate horizontally. Something to keep in mind if you need to back up to view a target above you. Other than that I’ve had a lot of fun playing this game and am still interested enough to hammer through the flight controls.
I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews for this game and at first I thought this was a bad game as well. I kept at it due to a lack of new 3d platformers for my 3ds. Once you get the hang of it, this game is awesome. It feels like a Dreamcast game. A couple of tips to help you out if you play. If you hold down the L button the camera will stay behind your character and in the first big boss fight there are rocks that can be smashed to give you a boost to fight the massive thing.
The game is awesome, and has a captivating story. It’s a little harder to play than the original Wii version, but definitely worth a try.
