Great!
Overall, a great battle game. And, different from other WWII games, this one succeeds in most parts in getting you into a genuine WWII battlefield atmosphere. The intro, when you are arriving to Stalingrad’s devastated docks, is simply dramatic. Music, during the first two missions is awesome, incredibly emotive, specially when triggering the assault to the top of the german bunkers where you have to neutralize a couple of pillbox with machine guns nests inside of them, at barely the beginning of the game.More in detail:Graphs: Were OK. Not exactly what we can call “breathtaking”, but far enough to recreate an atmosphere that will leave you but few doubts on what was a battleground in WWII.Sound: Astounding. One of the best achieved features in this game. The effect produced by the sound of a nearby explosion, suffered by the protagonist, is quite original.Action: Thrilling. The action sequence is very good, and highly succeeds in engaging you into the game atmosphere. Activision games are particularly good in such regard.Story: There are 5 main characters throughout the game: 3 Russians, 2 Americans and a British. Their actions and deeds (which in fact are your actions and deeds) are developed through 3 stages, divided into missions. I particularly enjoyed the first stage, at the eastern frontline, where you incarnate the 3 russians: a juvenile volunteer, a female sniper, and an experienced tank commander. I particularly found this stage the most exciting and challenging one.
I see a lot of reviews from 2004, makes me think this game is forgotten about. Anyways I decided to review it the best I can. I’ve played Call Of Duty 3 all the way to Call Of Duty Ghosts but never the first game in the series made for console. With that said I’m so used to playing the Call Of Duty games that are much better because graphics and gameplay. Again I own all the games in the series from 3 to ghosts, so I wanted to add Call Of Duty Finiest Hour and Big Red One to my collection. I must to say finest hour has its ups and downs, I won’t complain though because its an older game. The things I don’t like is that the game brightness is rather dark and unadjustable, the controls are a little different and uneasy to control, their isn’t checkpoints/save points in missions so if you die you restart the whole mission. It can be really hard at times. The story line isn’t much, could be more detailed but its not unfortunately. Okay, now the things I do like about it, its really fun in my opinion because I like some of the older games. I like that in this Call Of Duty game you don’t have health regeneration, you have to find health packs or kits to heal, its different so it catches my eye. The gun selection is common for WWII games but still cool. The graphics are rather impressive for its time in my opinion (except the darkness). I can’t say much more other than its a fun game if you don’t mind the few flaws, I recommend it to people who like the older games. If you like Call.
Historic war games are hard to come by for console systems such as the PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube. On PC they are a dime a dozen. The Medal of Honor games have been the norm for historic war FPS on consoles, but finally there is something else. Not only is Call of Duty: Finest Hour a great game, it’s better than MoH: Frontline and MoH: Rising Sun. Don’t get me wrong, the MoH series is great, but we all know MoH: Rising Sun was a huge dissappointment, even with it’s online play.CoD: FH is the first World War 2 game that doesn’t just focus on one of the soldiers points of view. When the game starts your playing as a Russian infantry man, then a Russian female sniper, then a Russian tank commander. That just shows the variety of people you get to play as right there. Then the game continues and you play as a British soldier/demolitions specialist. After that, the game moves on and you play the game from the American view.CoD: FH is a game that manages to get almost everything right. I think anyone who has played this game can agree there should have been like 5 more British missions. A lot of people complain about the save system, I can agree with that as well. The game should of had a quick save system where you could save the game at any moment. There are some minor rare technical glitches sometimes such as floating guns, enemies spawning out of thin air, and some minor AI issues. Most of the people playing this game may never even notice the small technical blemishes. The game s.
My teenagers love this game. Not surprizing as it is all about war games. Be warned this is for more mature audiences
