Rayman is,with SuperMario and Crash, the most important charachter of platforms. After a good game,”Rayman”,he returns with a new episode,”Rayman The Great Escape”.Fantastic! An incredible story, probably the best for a platform, not just for kids.Ray must defeat pirates and free every creature of his world.C’mon.Like Redman said,Time 4 sum aksion! This time our hero can swim, drive missiles, fly…he can boost his powers, praticate water skiing… an incredible evolution if we see “Rayman”.Other force ponts of “The Great Escape” are certanly the musics, very suggestive and with a secret, strange flavor. For temples, for marshes…there are often good sounds created just for the atmosphere. The control is very easy,Rayman’s movements can be ontrolled with the anaolgic joystick (L3) and with the good old arrows. Why haven’t I give 5 stars to “overall”?It’s simply. For the graphic.very good for a PS1’s product, but if you want taste real “Great Escape”‘s flava you better buy “Rayman Revolution”,the same game for PS2.The graphic is fantastic and there are a lot of minigames. But we better remain on PS1.”Rayman The Great Escape” is a really good game. The player can’t be bored, action freedom is huge.Places are infinite,so how could you say “It’s too easy”?There are a lot of levels, everyone has got a particularity.Every game’s charachter has got an own personality, and there are lots of enemies and friends!Amazing. To all the players.
everything was great
I only played the ps1 version of this game so I won’t make comparisons to the N64 and Dreamcast versions. But this game was awesome! Loved every minute of it, I can’t believe Rayman games aren’t popular, they’re all so great. I guess it’s a good thing because you can pick up the games super cheap, I got this for $10 and it was one of the best $10 I ever spent. It’s like Crash games in the sense that when you first play a level you’re not very good and it and completing it is a challenge. Then you’ll want to replay the level in order to earn all of the Lums and find all hidden cages, and by then you’ll have mastered the level. Definitely get this game!
A pleasant platform experience from the best of your dreams…Plot:Pirate robots have invaded Rayman’s rain forest world, and destroyed its core. It is your job to gather the fragments of that core and restore it. All of the villains and most of the locales are pirate-themed.Graphics:This game was released on both the N64 & PSX. The N64 version supported the expansion pack, so the graphics looked much smoother and better quality than on PSX. The severely polygonal, retrograde graphics in the PSX version are terribly disappointing.Otherwise, the graphics are something you might make up in one of your fondest dreams, and there is extreme attention to detail, in lighting and shadowing, like little fire flies flitting about and what-have-you. The water even looks nice and ripply, like you can see every ripple.Machines are depicted in all of their smoke-spewing, oil-dripping horror, every grate made to look like a set of prison bars…of course, it is all supposed to be from a rain forest inhabitant’s perspective.Sound:Dreamy and foreboding environments are backed with appropriate music. Most of the music is ambient, battle themes are reasonably upbeat, and they squeeze some chillin’ jazz in there, too.Voiceovers are done in whatever selection you make, English, French, or German. The French voice-overs are the best, and as a matter of fact, they are backed by English subtitles on the N64 version, by default.Again, the sound quality is MUCH better on the N64 version than on the PS.
pretty cool game, I like it maybe easy but also complex so maybe just right, kind of forgot but seemed special and enjoyable to play and great great graphics and such so I liked it
i love it
A nice sequel to the original. It takes the series to 3D for the first time and gives a whole array of possibilities that the original just couldn’t. Excellent sequel
The jewel case was pretty messed up, but the game itself plays great.
First off, let me tell you that I own the N64 version of this game. I have no idea how different it is from the Playstation version, but you will need a Memory card to save your data. With that aside, the first thing you will notice from watching the story is that the game has excellent graphics(I was using an N64 Expansion Pak so I don’t know what it looks like without it). The first level isn’t challenging because there is not much to collect, and the level is just there to teach you some tricks. The next level, the Fairy Glade, is where things start packing on. The levels get very challenging, and are very long. You will also get in fights with some Pirates which can be very difficult, especially if you have little life. Soon enough, you will meet up with friends like Clark, the giant muscled friend of yours, but he is very sick after a battle, and you must go back to a part of a pervious level to save him. You will also get to free Globox who freed you and got separated with in the story. Another cool thing about the game is that outside of the text, you will notice the characters don’t speak English, or any language for that matter. The gibberish does sound pretty funny though, and it makes the game more realistic. The only true problem I have with this game is the save system, because you have to exit a level to save. This can be especially annoying if you are in the middle of a level and have to turn the N64 off. All in all, the game is a blast, and a game your kids wi.
The levels were toned down, but I still had a blast playing it. A must have for your nostalgia pleasure.
