Highly addictive gameplay. Very challenging and always fun. The first true platform game for a console that paved the way for all that was to come, but this is still the best platformer ever.
I loved playing this game years ago and once again it has brought a lotof happy memories back , it did make me laugh as I found it quite hard as I couldn’t remember how to play it
Nothing like getting a game with the box and instruction in like new condition!
When I gained back my Atari 2600 i knew i need to have pitfall, so i bought it and it was in perfect condition and it was pretty fun, I love it
It didn’t work at first but started to work after we cleaned it. It is my wife’s favorite!
Pitfall for the atari 2600..what a classic! released in the early 80s(best decade ever !)..you play Pitfall harry…an adventurer that loves swinging on vines searching for fortune and glory ..while encountering the occasional perils thrown in for good measure… sounds familiar? well it should .. since this one was released around when the indiana jones films were first coming out in theaters and for me i always imagined harry as indy :) im sure i wasnt alone…the graphics on this were decent(atari 2600 keep in mind) the colors bright and vivid..and lets not forget the sound effects such as the jumps..and the famous “swing” sound…it always brings a smile to my face… activision always made great titles for atari..and this one is no exception..there was a sequel made and other ports /reboots for systems over the years….but the original was and still is the best…if your a classic gamer Pitfall is a no brainer to own. watch out for those crocs ! because they still are a pain..
Got game and after a little cleaning it worked, brought back some childhood memories and bored the kids to death lol
Works great, thank you!
In Pitfall, you control Pitfall Harry as he explores the jungle for treasures. You’ll avoid rolling logs, dangerous wildlife, and quicksand as you progress from screen to screen. One of the best features in Pitfall is the underground. This lets crafty players skip large portions of the game and take shortcuts. Beware, however, because you can miss treasures this way unless you know where you’re going. When the game was new, I made a map to track which shortcuts to take and which to avoid. Also note that the jungle can be explored both left and right. Since upon death Harry always appears on the left side of the screen, you can bypass some dangers by playing the game travelling in the other direction. Playing the game this way also gives harder screens more quickly than travelling to the right, so I wouldn’t suggest it for newer players. The scoring system is unique in that non-lethal mistakes carry a point penalty. Even collecting all the treasure in the game, your final score may be different depending on how many mistakes were made.Pitfall is a very fun game that offers good exploration options when using shortcuts. I can recommend this game to anyone with a 2600.
This is perhaps the greatest game on the Atari 2600. It had a good gameplay, pretty challenging and very good graphics for Atari 2600 standards. This game pushed the CPU and GPU limits of the Atari 2600 and what you get is a true masterpiece. This is not only perhaps the greatest Atari 2600 game, it’s also one of the greatest third party video games of all time. Made by Activision, this game made Atari jealous that they didn’t own the rights to this game. Pitfall is a great classic and shouldn’t be missed by any retro gamer.
