My favorite ncaa football game!!! This gave is great, mindblowing, durable, & it was a collectible for NCAA FOOTBALL GAMERS everywhere!!!
I’m obsessed with playing this game online, but you have to watch out for tons of cheaters online. The biggest BS play on the game is the unrealistic HB direct which gurantees you at least 15 yards. The only way to stop it is by sending a heavy outside blitz every play, and believe me there are knuckle heads that do it every play online. Also in online play people have mastered glitching the game which slows down the connection in pivotol moments to make you play like crap. Also some dorks figured out how to snap the ball to the WR for at least 30 yard gains on every play. But that is just on the online mode, outstide of the online mode it is a very fun game to play on the dynasty mode. I’m very happy with this game, and I can’t wait til next years game comes out.
EA has the best gameplay for sports games ever, PERIOD!! But why does EA do this every year? They grab our attention and money with these hot new gimmicks, but they forget about the little things that make sports something more that just a game. When you are playing in the National Championship you want it to feel that way. In this game it feels like another regular season game. EA needs to start creating post season atmosphere for their games. Show both teams in the locker room getting taped up before game, show highlights of both teams in action during the regular season and the teams getting off the bus or something. I just feel like they could do more. Maybe what EA does is enough for the casual gamer, but for die hard college football fans we need these things. Make the postseason feel like the postseason.
It’s been a long time since I really looked at sports games. Back on my N64 and Playstation, I was always looking for Blitz, Madden, NCAA…you name it, I’d try it out. But for a while, sports were out of my mind. But now that I’m actually playing football for my H.S. squad, why not try some new games? Well, I made the right choice here.Pros:-All the teams are present from all across the country.-The announcer voice is actually quite nice, but you can turn it off and just hear the P.A. do the play by play.-Create-A-School returns! Create your own school down to the field design.-There is actually a quest mode (so to speak). The “Race For The Heismann” allows you to make your way through four full college seasons and get drafted to the pros. You choose your name, number, position, appearance, and everything else.Cons:-There are no real player rosters, but given that the players only have 4 years to be on their teams, it’s not a great surprise.-Honestly speaking, the PS2 version’s graphics aren’t too hot, especially when compared to the XBOX version. The movement is kind of jerky, and the players look choppy.-The commentary gets kind of repetitive on occasion.-The field grunts and tackle crunching sounds aren’t too realistic. This game is a nice choice for hardcore college football fans. Can’t say I am one, but I’ve rediscovered the sport of football, and I can’t help but recommend this game.
Having been a fan of NCAA Football since its conversion to PS2 I keep hoping that EA will fix a major flaw in its dynasty mode, but they haven’t. The game’s standard has always been 5 minute quarters. Playing with 5 minute quarters in the dynasty mode will yield the top defense in the nation with an offense that is ranked 100. You just don’t have time to rack up the huge offensive numbers, while the lack of time keeps you defensive numbers high. When the computer models the nation’s offense and defense stats they are based more in reality not the 5 minute quarter paradigm of a video game. The quarter length issue also plagues the new Heisman mode. If you are playing as a QB, HB, WR just adjust the quarter length and you will rack up the highest stats in the nation the first year. EA needs to adjust the Dynasty/Heisman mode to reflect the chosen quarter length not reality.
Again, I must add the disclaimer that I am NOT an advid PS2 game player. Never have been and never will.I began to play though only on last year’s 2005 edition and became hooked on this game specifically. The 2006 edition, especially those who have a passing interest in a bit of diversion, proves worth every red cent. This is an excellent update. While I am still unable to consistently beat my 13 year old son, I have, playing as Nebraska against the CPU, won the National Title three times. With superb graphics and 5.1 sound along with easy to manipulate controls (not to mention humorous commentary from Nessler, Herbstreet and the Dick Vitale of college football-Lee Corso)the 2006 edition throbs and vibrates almost as much as a live game.Again, I love EA’s detail in terms of playbooks. It is truly challenging to use strategy in picking defenses and offenses based upon the ebb and flow of the game. It has helped me understand the real game so very much more. While I will never use all of the bells and whistles the new edition offers (that is something for my son), I have enjoyed the “create a player” mode. It’s to create 7 foot recievers and defensive backs with lightning speed. If only recruiting like this was possible in real life.Appropriate for all ages, I cannot reccomend this excellent game enough. It may sound cliched but it is true, NCAA 2006 does provide endless hours of entertainment. The BEST team sports related game I have yet seen.
Great product that came at great timing!
EA Sports has much improved from the 2005 edition of NCAA Football. Although some of the controls are a bit tricky to get a hold of (such as usng the right analog stick to juke and changing your people with the o button)once you play the game a few times you get a feel for the controls. One of the nice new features is taking a high school blue-chipper and tprogressing through the college ranks. One complaint is that the summer training camp only includes one station to evaluate your skill. Say you choose to be a running back, you are then taken to a “mini-game”. You are forced to try and score as many touchdowns in ten tries without going out-side of a boundry line. To me it seems as though a few more stations should be neeeded to evaluate your skill. As far as game play goes this is one of the most realistic and fluid football games out there. The passing is now more realistic, wiith devensive backs making athletic plays to swat down the ball, and the recivers now seem to reflect their cathing stat more realisicly. they have tweaked the running game with the use of the right analog stick for jukes.Overall this is a game worth your money and has a high entertainment and replay factor. use the dynasty mode ot keep the hours of fun going.
If you are reading this review you are probably already familiar with the EA Sports Madden series and the EA Sports NCAA series of football games. In 2005 there was also the 2K Sports series of NFL games like NFL 2K5. I will not give all the details about the new features or improved aspects of this year’s NCAA ’06 football game compared to the NCAA Football 2005 version since you can read about that information on any video game site on the internet but instead I will be simple and to the point in regard to my opinion of this year’s NCAA Football game.PROS: This is the best college football video game released to date. It integrates nicely with the NFL Madden series of football video games. It has tons of features and challenges including the newest “Race for the Heisman mode”. It is fun, easy to play, difficult to master, and has many different game modes and features. For those who own multiple gaming systems the graphics are quite good for the PS2 and although the XBox load times are a little faster there is not much graphical difference between the two versions. Both the PS2 and XBox versions of NCAA Football ’06 support online internet game play.CONS: The price is a hefty $50 which is steep compared to last year’s $30 price for the EA football games and $20 for the bargain priced 2K sports football games. EA has to pay for those exclusive licences somehow. Although the game play, graphics and depth are somewhat improved over last years NCAA game it still lacks the.
There are some negatives and postives for this game. The Race to the Hiesman mode is ok but it starts to quick. You do one drill and then you get a scholarship, go to a team and play the first game. You are automatically teh starter. So it is kind of dumb that you dont have to prove anything. Many good things w/ this game are the depth of the game. There are so many game modes, teams, players and detail involved, Hats off the stadium designers as well.I enjoy the features of Dynasty mode. I still feel this is a better option than Race to the Hiesman. In Dynasty you control your school from recruits, the depth chart, disipline and anythign else you can think of. Sports Illustrated is very involved havign covers, and differnet features w/ the game.My RatingsGraphics- 9.5- The graphics on teh player models are very good and there isnt much room for improvement.Presentation- 8.5- The commentary of Corso, Nessler and herbstrett are very good. The pre game show is completely repetive. It goes on what they think and then you see Corso put on a hat, helmet or mascot head of what team he thinks will win.Game Modes- 9.5- There are new mini games. Incredible Dynasty mode. Race to the Hiesman. Mascot Games, College Rivalries and a good online mode.Sound- 9- The commentary and crowd noises are top notch. You can hear the tackles well. The music on teh menus is a Punk-Rock kind of vibe.Game Play- 8.5- The Game Play is good but it could be better. There is no on the fly controls liek madden..
