If you like real basketball instead of arcade basketball, you should get this game. I love this gameplay, but it could be better. The new hop step button is great, but if you step up to take a charge, the defender slides backwards. It also takes to long for the shoter to recover after a missed layup. And they have to many missed layups in the game. You should have to push a button for your player to protect the ball, they turn there back to the basket as soon as you cross half court. The defence is the best in any basketball game I’ve played. The Dynasty mode is OK. They should have money instead of points. And since it’s a longer season that football, they should have more from game to game to keep you ocupide, like food, jerseys ,ticket prices, changing coaches and signing bonuses, like Madden 2004. As for play calling, I liked it better when you had to push select and another button for the play you want call. It gives you more plays, not just 4 with the D-pad. You have to play and practice this game for awhile to realy get into it, it is the most realistic basketball game that I’ve ever played. NBA Live is heading in the right direction, they don’t have to change much, just twek it a bit for 2005.
NBA Live 2004 is the best game on the market. I love all EA games they really do there homework when its come to improving from year to year. I will always be a fan!!!
NBA live 2004 is the shiznit. With the new pro-hop, the dunk/layup and shot button, post battles, and a more realistic computer makes this game great. NBA Live 2004 is worth every penny, i cant stop playing it..
The game is really good
Awesome! Brand new! It was delivered in 4 or 5 days.
Live 2004 is addictive, fun, realistic, and challenging. The graphics get an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. some features could be added or twirked. Like rebounding. it seems to take a while for your controlled team, offense or defense to automatically rebound, and that sometimes can cost you the game. the dynasty mode is a cool feature. playing online seem to lag a bit in every game, but overall fun. would like to bring back the team practice and not just the individual practive, and this should be accesiable in dynasty and season mode. one one is cool, should have more playing locations. my nba store, where you can buy items [with points/just make it real money] is cool, should be able to add more shoes or better things to purchase. but this can all be worked out with 2005. overall very satisfied! like basketball, want some real action than pick up Live 2004!
Hi,I’ve played basketball over the years but the only NBA Live games I’ve played was NBA Live ’95 on the PC and NBA Live 98 in the Nintendo 64 (my friends and I wore that one out). I got NBA Live 2002 for the PS2 for a brief time as well and played it but shelved it in favor of NBA 2k2.So, it was a pleasant surprise when my friend got me NBA Live 2004. It took me a while to adjust to the game but NBA Live 2004 is quite nice. The graphics are fairly realistic and the freestyle controls are fun to try to use. The season and dynasty modes are great…allowing you to play shorter seasons so you don’t have to get stuck playing a 82 game season. Dynasty allows you to manage the roster, trade players, sign new players, etc. Still in the midst of the first season but seems to work ok.As far as game play goes, no real big complaints. But some minor things i have noticed: Rebounding seems to have made most of the reviewers happy. I have noticed though that many times, when I play, my teammates (when they are computer controlled) will just stand around let the ball drop to the floor and refuse to go after it. Very frustrating because the other team will usually get to the ball.Running the "set offenses" that is offered is also frustrating. If you call for a set offense ("Utah", "Stagger", etc, etc) and don’t start it properly, everyone just "stands" around. I know the moving diagrams are helpful, but maybe would have been nice to have.
I don’t know what game some people wrote their reviews about, but it certainly wasn’t this game. The graphics are really nice, and the gameplay is accurate. I don’t know why people complain about how fast the game pace is, but you can slow it down. Anyway, I like basketball better when it’s fast-paced. I did find the fact that the point gurad will usually back his defender down to be annoying a little, but at least the ball is protected. I only rented the game, so I didn’t try Dynasty and Season mode, but the regular games are great. The freestyle control is awesome; a crossover won’t get you to the hoop with ease. It takes a croosover or two to get some seperation from your defender to get off a shot, and I found it refreshing that not every shot goes in like some games I play. I also LOVE the quick plays. It’s awesome to be able to call for someone to set a pick or cut to the basket, or maybe post-up their man or run a nother play. You also get a TON of defenses to choose from. You can use a 2-3 zone, 3-2 zone, shifting zones, a 1-3-1, half, 3/4, or full court man, and its great to be able to change what button is what play. Rebounding is nice and realistic, too. I get a lot more defensive boards than I do offensive boards. I also like how easy it is to clear the ball outfrom under the hoop and start the fast-break, because I love to run the floor. There is one problem there, however; the guy’s stop and catch the ball instead of taking the pass in stride, wh.
NBA Live 2004 is the best basketball game that has ever been made since NBA2K for Dreamcast. The authenic gameplay is really amazing. There are so many things you can do,you can do a hop-drop step, you can change your shot from a dunk to a lay-up, and there are soooo many other moves you can do with the “FREESTYLE” stick. Not only on the offensive end but also on the defensive end you can use the “FREESTYLE” stick. But the best part of this game is the Dynasty mode. On this you can take your team in training camp to get them ready for the tough season that’s ahead of them. You can win points for sneakers, socks, headbands, teamshirts and more. I can’t tell you the rest but I’ll say this, when you get it you won’t be dissapointed.
You know, you can adjust things like blocks, passing, steals, etc. The game can be tailor-made to your liking. And don’t believe about Peja being lousy at 3s, I just scored 62 in a 5 minute game, hitting 12 3s on the highest level. This is far and away the best basketball game out there, and I recommend you buy it twice just so EA is encouraged about themselves. Just remember you can change anything you want about the gameplay. Even the ratings are changable!!!!!! You can make Kirk Hinrich better than Jordan, if you want. So, no whining, just learn to play and enjoy.
